I used to think India couldn't be that bad. Then I saw this streetview challenge where you have to find a place in ALL OF INDIA on google streetview that doesn't have trash or construction debris in the photo. I tried for 30+ minutes and gave up. In the middle of nowhere India just random piles of trash.

There is less opportunity, but the main problem is with the people civics sense.I am from the hilly regions of India and it is still better than the main parts of India. I am planning to leave the country for better opportunities, but it was just a vibe to sit with friends and enjoy the mountain view. It's not that bad if you're a dude traveling with your friends, there are fairly decent locations in India for tourists. Like, yeah sure it's fitlhy as fuck but you're not gonna live there. As someone who grew up in Salzburg, Austria (not a 5 star hotel obviously) I've travelled to India twice and there are many beautiful parts of the country. Especially in the South, the Kerala backwaters and beaches, Kochin, Hampi, the highlands of Tamil Nadu with villages like Ooty... friendly people, fascinating culture and stunning landscapes. In contrast, Delhi and Mumbai are hellholes. Bangalore is cleaner and more organized but I think all the big cities are incredibly hectic.

Travel to work used to be a fight to the death. We've only got Metros in the last five years. People have no civic sense here. They treat streets like an open garbage dump. As someone who grew up in Salzburg, Austria (not a 5 star hotel obviously) I've travelled to India twice and there are many beautiful parts of the country.
Especially in the South, the Kerala backwaters and beaches, Kochin, Hampi, the highlands of Tamil Nadu with villages like Ooty... friendly people, fascinating culture and stunning landscapes. In contrast, Delhi and Mumbai are hellholes. Bangalore is cleaner and more organized but I think all the big cities are incredibly hectic.

Accurate. I've been living in Mumbai for 35 years. Went to Istanbul for 3 years and realised that I've been living in a slum city called Mumbai. Here we have to fight for the most basic amenities. Travel to work used to be a fight to the death. We've only got Metros in the last five years. People have no civic sense here. They treat streets like an open garbage dump. Because Mumbai is the financial capital, every immigrant from failed states like UP and Bihar come here. They've turned Mumbai red with their shitty betel leaf chewing habit. I can't wait to get out of here.

Even places like Gurugram and Noida City are decades away from being as advanced as Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam or Kuala Lumpar in Malaysia. It wasn't always like this, not back in Columbus's day. India's issue is basically failed modernization, they got it halfway done, stopped, and the scaled that bad system x1000 all the way saying that fixing things would be too difficult. Truth is it was never too difficult, and still isn't, they just don't have enough support in the population to make it happen. If the people knew how much better they could have it, you'd have it sorted out rapidly.
