Update: I did cut my hair using this video! It turned out awesome, and even got approval from a hairdresser acquaintance (after being chastised for not letting HER get the satisfaction of cutting off that length haha!) Totally recommend!

I just did this to mine using your instructions and it looks AWESOME! No one would be able to tell I did it myself! Cut off about 4.5” (I had to have my husband help remove the “point” in the back so it was all straight). I never want to pay for a haircut again! Thank you!!

My hair was to the back of my knees. It had never been cut aside from my split ends for all of my life, which was 1998-2016. She used to tell me I wasnt allowed to because it was her hair because she gave birth to me. I eventually just chopped it all off myself because I'm 5'11, so my hair was LONG! I ended up chopping it all off because I was tired if it. My mom didn't talk to me for a whole ass week. My hair is all the way down to my mif back now and I'm going to be cutting it again.
My hair gonna mad at me if i cut my hair too short but I really want it. Hehehe, but it will going to grow slower.

I did this today and come out so nice! 85% Professional cut ✂ No one would even know I cut it my shelf. Sh... Dont say anything. But thank you so much! I needed this ;)
Tips: The back will look longer so ask an adult to cut it, just thr back part. With scissors cutting up.. Vertical. And blend blend blend.. Until you get a both sides the same length.

I decided to try your tutorial. And I love it! My hair has had a grown out bob for about a year and a half now. I followed along with you and I cut maybe a half inch shorter than yours because my back layer wasn’t as long. I showed it to my husband and he was really impressed with how I did. This is the first time I have EVER cut my hair and I am 37 years old. But you did a great job making this video and making it easy to see and understand.

This is so awesome!! My hair came out amazing. I've been cutting my own hair for years using the pony tail under the chin technique, but this came out so much better. This is my go to.

Followed this video during social isolation and my hair came out beautifully!
Had to tweak it a bit more and got some help from my boyfriend making the back straighter. Definitely needed the confidence boost with everything going on in the world. Most importantly I’m grateful with life for our health and praying for everyone else’s wellbeing.

Okay I have tried it. I really underestimated how long it took. It took me about 1.5 hour!
In the beginning it was really hard to cut while looking in the mirror because I am not used to mirror my movements, take this into account! Also the back is the hardest part.
I cut my hair above my shoulder, so it is really short now and I am still not 100% happy with it, although I expected worse when I was a few minutes into it. So actually it turned out quite okay I think.
Oh and one tip, use a water spray or some other water based spray to make your hair straighter, this really helped for me!

This method works well I would just recommend cutting below the ponytail holder. Helps get a more uniform cut the first time. Great job!

I was pretty nervous but it turned out really well! My boyfriend needed to tidy up the middle bits that looked a bit 'pointy' but overall I was surprised at how nice my hair looks, and it looks so much healthier.

Also this is a better idea because I once had a hair dresser get nervous about me telling her what length I wanted my hair. She look at my husband & was nervous. So glad the last lady that did my hair had no fear & just cut my hair the length I wanted. Yeah my husband gave me a hard time about it, but I was happy & comfortable with my short hair. I just did this and it worked. My two cents: cut LESS than what you are going for. I took two inches off and it looks good. I wish i could have cut a tiny bit less but Im sure Itll grow back to the length i was going for within a couple of months.

OMG! I followed your tutorial and I love, love, love the result! I was so scared, and ended up cutting over 12 inches off, but I'm so happy :D Thank you so much for showing and explaining how to cut your own hair.
So i think your hair ended up looking pretty good in the end, but there are better ways to cut your hair that COULD be a little more difficult but still possible if you have a couple mirrors. I just finished my first semester in Cosmetology at trade school and i learned that the best way to cut hair is to do the back then sides(if you are doing a normal horizontal cut). So youd part ypur hair from right behind your ears to the top of your head and that will be your sides. Then the rest of the hair is the back, so put up the side parts and cut the back to your desired length. Then take the sides down and do the same. The reason thats probably the best way to do it is because when u direct all of the hair forward you naturally get a weird reverse diagonal cut(a diagonal cut is short to long, so a reverse is long to short) so some of the hair mostly in the back is angled weird and longer than in the front. I'm not good at explaining with typing so if it didnt make sense im sorry 😂 but you would probably get the best results by sectioning and cutting your hair like i just explained.

I did this a couple of days ago but I was worried because I already had a short fringe and long hair. But I followed this and got rid of the point at the back then added layers (following the other YT video you did) and it came out really well even with my short fringe! Even my Mum was impressed :) TY!!
