Bee Gees are three brothers, Barry in the middle, Robin left, long hair no beard, Maurice right, shorter hair, beard. They are known for their fabulous harmonies both in falsetto as in Too Much Heaven released in 1979 to their 1967 TO LOVE SOMEBODY singing in their natural chest voices. It’s not only the beauty of their voices, they also wrote all their own music, over 1000+ songs for themselves and other top artists. If you love songs of love and heartbreak with the most movingly beautiful lyrics, Bee Gees are the masters. Very refreshing to hear a young member of the next generation reacting to such a great song. This song is for all generations and your reaction is very genuine. You mentioned that this is live and no studio mixing or auto tune. Notice that they are all singing into one microphone instedd of three. Love it Ashley. Keep it up the reactions.
Being brothers they have sung together their entire lives up until recently & now only Barry's left alive sadly. They were & still are Icons of the 1970's music, dominating the charts like no others.
Those of you who aren't aware of the Bee Gees, need to realize that all 3 brothers could sing the same an hiit the same notes, which is obvious how they can Harmonize so perfectly, those of us who were blessed to grow up listening to them and their pure talent along with all the other really talented musicians of 70's, we were truly Fortunate
PLease note: Three singers and one mike. Autotune wasn't around, and you can't edit the harmony you're hearing. That is pure talent. And as another suggestion since you like orchestras; give Moody Blues', Nights in White Satin (live version) a try.
Why were 3 people sharing 1 microphone when obviously they could have easily each had their own? The answer hearkens back to the times of the early 50's and 60's when performers such as Bob Dylan, the Beatles, the BeeGees etc. were in the early days of their careers and had not yet achieved their later financial successes and fame. In those early years, each microphone represented a significant financial cost to them. To reduce the number of microphones that were needed, musicians would often pair up on one microphone particularly those musicians providing vocal harmonies (in some cases 3 voices would converge on 1 microphone - The 3 BeeGee brothers - Robyn, Maurice and Barry did do this quite often and are a perfect example of this ... there is a video recording of a live performance of them doing this on their song "Too Much Heaven" ... a masterful use of 1 microphone shared by 3 people and with stunning result!). But to use one microphone effectively in this way required practice wherein the needed skill and coordination of the performers would be acquired. The closeness or proximity of each performer to the single microphone would determine the needed dynamics of each voice, moment by moment, throughout the performance and in itself represented an act of choreography. To conclude, it was a practice primarily from the 60's when musicians had a significantly lesser amount of capital available for the acquisition of musical equipment that was needed. But, it was an approach that actually worked very well and because of that, performers from that era, still employ it often as a preference and are not quick to abandon it. FYI.
Of course this isn't autotuned, but it is certainly edited and overdubbed in the studio. This is not a live performance. There are more than 3 voices included here and there are times when Barry's vocals carry on with the chorus while he is doing other vocals.
They used many many layers of different versions of their harmonizing to create this sound. I believe the final count is that we’re hearing 27 voices (all Bee Gees) in this production. And of course this is not a live performance. I’m a Bee Gees fan and this is a wonderful song, but they’re great enough without inaccurately suggesting they weren’t heavily produced.
@@DangerRussDayZ6533 Who cares its still their vocals, quit trying to make them sound like a studio band! They can blow anyone away in music vocally, nevertheless!
I am continually thrilled to watch the amazement of your generation when hearing the fantastic music from the 70’s. The Bee Gee’s are a jewel in the music world. Love them forever!
Oh my goodness - you are adorable! I’m sure your Grandma knows about The Bee Gees especially if she was a teenager during the 1970s. Sometimes it’s better when you discover it yourself. We were so blessed to have so many talented artists in the 70s. The Bee Gees were so exceptional because they were brothers which helped with the harmonies. Not to mention, they wrote music for themselves as well as for other artists. Wow! The memories come flooding back in….❤
This song was the three brothers contribution for the music of UNISEF charity for the UNISEF concert in 1979 they donated the proceeds to the charity, Bee Gees first and foremost considered themselves songwriters before being vocalist, they had 6 consecutive No1 hits in a row between 1977 - 1978,they have hits over 6 decades, they have written for many other artists, Barbara Streisand, Olivia Newton John, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, Frankie Valli, Dionne Warwick,Yvonne Elliman, Destiny’s Child,Celine Dion, and they have written songs for films (Grease) and (Saturday Night Fever) Bees Gees have sold over 250 million records worldwide, they have so many amazing songs, Bee Gees born on the Isle of Man 🇮🇲 of the coast of United Kingdom 🇬🇧, great reaction thanks 🙏
Wow, that was amazing. I don't know anyone who is more informative about the BeeGees other than myself. I was blessed to be a pre-teen when the BeeGees first came on the air. I had a HUGE crush on Barry, the eldest of the brothers Gibb. I played their music daily just to hear Barry's vocals on Words, To Love Somebody, World and my favorite, the First of May. I do have to give props to Robin and his unique voice on Massachusetts, I Started a Joke, and many more. However, my favorites always have all harmonizing and contribution to New York Mining Disaster (1941), Too Much Heaven, Fanny Be Tender with my Love and the endless songs they all wrote. The Celine Dion's song "Immortality". I still listen to the BeeGees today and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. The Greatest band of ALL time!
The Bee Gees had hits covering 50 years and to date have sales of over 220 million. All profits from this record went to UNICEF and has raised over 10 million.
At that point, Ashley wished that it wasn't tea in that cup. She needed a double shot and a tissue. I love how Ashley played "conductor" The fact that is hearing a song, that most of us here heard 45 years ago. That's close to twice her age. I love that she love our music. We had the best music. Even though music is cyclical, it's difficult or near impossible to duplicate raw talent, like the BeeGees. May Maurice and his twin brother, Robin, continue to sing for the angels above.
Your reaction is priceless. I used to work for someone who absolutely did not like the Bee Gees. I never could figure out why. You will be very shocked to hear other artists from this era as well. The 60's and 70's and even the 80's gave to us some of the greatest music ever to be recorded from some of the best talent you hardly see and hear anymore.
I remember reading an article that Maurice said some thing along these lines, “one of us is ok. Two of us is pretty good. Three of us is absolutely amazing.” The harmony they get with all three of them in front of ONE microphone is so special and spectacular.
I love it that no matter what generation, no matter what nationality, no matter what ethnicity - everyone who listens to the Bee Gees says the same thing. "Pure Talent!" Music brings people together.
Yes, truly unbelievable. No other group can produce this sound. They are in their own league. And yes, we we're basically blessed to be experiencing this music during our youth.
I love watching the young people appreciating great artists. It’s funny, because we know it’s going to get better and Ashley is impressed in the beginning. I forgot to say in case no one said it, they are all brothers and there was a much younger brother too who was also a great singer. Sadly only the oldest brother, Barry the lead singer is still alive.
Hearing Barry’s voice again after over 45 years it still brings chills to my skin!! 1978 prom dancing with my man!! So awesome! Men and women both loved this group. My boyfriend bought me the 8 track.
The 70's and 80's were the decades with the hottest music of all time, in all Genre's. I graduated high school in 85. If you graduated during this time, I know you agree. My daughter is 19 and a music Artist but trust me she listens to all the music I grew up with.
Ashley as a mother I am proud that you want to learn more about the music, you are going on a fun ride. You are beautiful and charismatic and you are going to achieve great things. Bring your grandmother on for a reaction. The Bee Gees are amazing, great vocals, so many great hits. There is nothing better than real voices and real musicians. That is why this music last for decades. Keep having fun.
Any of their 1000 songs are amazing. They wrote and produced their own music and had incredible harmonies and vocal range. These brothers are musical geniuses. Have a listen to Fanny be tender by them. Next level.
and this just them singing, they wrote so many song for other people that also become hits, such as Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton's island in the stream
The Bee Gee’s is for the BG’s which stands for the brothers Gibb. They are three brothers and left to right in the video. They are Robin, Barry, and Maurice. They have 1 million hit songs you should definitely listen to. You should be dancing, tragedy, staying alive, and Fanny be tender with my heart.
I grew up listening and dancing to the BeeGees. I hear you loud & clear when you say, "it's the harmonies" because THAT is what speaks universally with no borders. Angelic vocals is spot on -- the right depiction.

Just when you think you've heard their best song ever, the next track is even better. These boys could flat out belt it. I feel so blessed to have grown up to their music. I was 8 when I saw the Saturday Night Fever movie and was introduced to their music. I'm still feeling the emotion in their songs 46 years later!!! Almost all of my friends are blown away when they hear them for the first time. Thank you for posting and appreciating what a class act this group was. Only 1 brother left, Barry. The other 2 (plus Andy who passed in his 20's) were not on this planet long enough IMO. The brothers shall reunite in heaven and even God will be blown away at the talent of the Brothers Gibb!!!
Miss Ashley I will make a formal request for some more current neo soul artists: Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Bruno Mars/Silk Sonic, Jazmine Sullivan. Lots of talent in those folks
They are brothers & they had been singing & harmonizing since they were teens. The Frontman is Barry Gibb. The other 2 are fraternal Twins Maurice and Robin.
Just think by the time they recorded this song we'd already had 20 plus years of great songs from the Bee Gees and they gave us over five decades of this magic.
Absolutely love your reaction. Please take a deep dive. They have given us over five decades of the best song writing and singing. They will not disappoint you. Fanny Be Tender. Nights On Broadway. Love So Right. Love You Inside Out.
They HAD a baby brother. He was the first to die (heart issues due to drug use), then Maurice (heart attack on the OR table to fix a twisted bowel), then Mo's twin, Robin (cancer). Barry is the eldest & the only brother left.
The Bee Gees were HUGE in the late 70s. Some of their other hits: "Stayin' Alive", "Night Fever", "You Should Be Dancin'", "How Deep Is Your Love", "Jive Talkin'", "Nights on Broadway", "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?", "More Than a Woman", "Tragedy" and more... all bangers.
Its nice to see young people enjoying the music of the BeeGees and learning what us folks who have been around a while already knew. The perfect harmony, and the crystal clear wording, that can only be accomplished threw years playing together. Its why they are my favorite group of all time.
Their harmony is on point! 💖So sharp! When he was about 18 months old, Barry's mom said he reached up on the table and hot tea poured over his chest and arms. You can see the shine on his chest. She said he did not talk for about 2 years. They didn't have skin grafts back then. He almost died too. He was on a talk show, and he showed the scars on his arm. He said he does not remember it happening.
I am 70 we had REAL musicians and the most beautiful music, most uplifting ever!!! Dump today's music, want to really live??? Not be depressed? This is my favorite song ever!!!! Other than church music that is!!!
Here is the reason that the Bee Gees harmony was one of the best ever and probably will never be recreated in our time. Brothers/siblings most times have very similar vocal tone and to make it even better, the outer two brothers are twins, so that makes it even more closer to a perfect matching vocal tone, yet the twins tones are not totally the same, but the blend of all 3 is what makes the perfection. Bee Gees style!!!!! Their younger brother Andy that passed away also had a like sound.
Great reaction girl! You need to check these brothers other masterpieces “Fanny Be Tender With My Love”, “Love You Inside Out”, “How Deep Is Your Love”, “Nights On Broadway” and so many more. They wrote and produced all their songs and many for other artist. ENJOY!

I’m a Bee Gees fan and this is a wonderful song, but they’re great enough without inaccurately suggesting they
weren’t heavily produced.
@@DangerRussDayZ6533 Who cares its still their vocals, quit trying to make them sound like a studio band! They can blow anyone away in music vocally, nevertheless!
Barry has a control on his voice unlike a lot of singers today.
I am continually thrilled to watch the amazement of your generation when hearing the fantastic music from the 70’s. The Bee Gee’s are a jewel in the music world. Love them forever!
This type music in the 70's had a live studio. Real expert and master musicians and singers. . This way we felt the music.
Thank you words spoken the whole truth
And proceeds still going to UNICEF ❤
I am CRYING laughing at Ashley in this reaction! It was at 10:30 she reached a breaking point!😂😂😂😂
These guys are pure class there back catalogue is amazing and have written songs for other artists as well …. Great review
Loved your Reaction!! I’m an aging Baby Boomer too 😊. Dig deeper. Bee Gees are amazing! This song too BEAUTIFUL FOR WORDS 😊❤️🙏
Nobody's laughing- glad you discovered them, and are enjoying their music. They had the same effect on us in the 70's! ♥
Is a shame that we lost so soon, Andy the unofficial Bee Gee, Maurice and Robin,
Love your heartfelt genuine reactions to these Real artists of yesterday year
Hearing Barry’s voice again after over 45 years it still brings chills to my skin!!
And all written, performed, and donated to charity,Ashley. It’s made millions for Unicef.
And there was no retakes and no audio adjustments. Just pure talent. You dint see that today.
Barry Gibb is so captivating that it's intoxicating
Beautiful song. Thanks for reacting Ashley!🎉
It's this music that brought me to be an old man. You are listening to REAL music.
I love watching and hearing younger Generations getting exposed to magnificent music such as this. No auto-tune, no computers, just pure talent recorded live in front of a gorgeous Orchestra...THIS is music ❤
Welcome in the Univers of the Bee Gees. They had so many Songs. And every Song is a surprice. I grow up with the best Group ever. Amazing Voices Amazing Song Amazing Bee Gees. 🕺🥰👍
My generation had the best music.
Love your reaction and that you instantly caught the first high "toooo" by Robin and Maurice and that you actually played it back! Love that part too. Great reaction!
Tickled she caught that part. Not many reactors notice that change in the 2nd half of the song. It is one of my favorite parts of this song.
@@LuckyDawgProductionsModerator Kudos to you, you obviously appreciate the talent needed to put out a beautiful song like this. 👋😇
@renep2220 I fell for the BeeGees when I was 13 and still love them today. I will be 69 in a month and listen to them every single day.
@@LuckyDawgProductionsModerator I'm 67yrs old and still getting my groove on with the awesome BeeGees! 😁
@renep2220 That's awesome! They are the best!
The Bee Gees are hands down the greatest band of all time! Nobody has the beautiful sounding voices of these 3 brothers!
Great fun to see the younger generation listen to the songs we grew up with...until she mentioned her Grandma!!!😂Now I feel ancient!😅
You are so right, todays artists couldn't do this. You're in for a great ride discovering all the great singers of the past.
The Harmony is godsent.❤
Just think by the time they recorded this song we'd already had 20 plus years of great songs from the Bee Gees and they gave us over five decades of this magic.
Absolutely love your reaction. Please take a deep dive. They have given us over five decades of the best song writing and singing. They will not disappoint you.
Fanny Be Tender. Nights On Broadway.
Love So Right.
Love You Inside Out.
I have been listening to the Bee Gees for 50 years and I still love them! They have a baby brother Andy Gibb and he can sing to!!
They HAD a baby brother. He was the first to die (heart issues due to drug use), then Maurice (heart attack on the OR table to fix a twisted bowel), then Mo's twin, Robin (cancer). Barry is the eldest & the only brother left.
Andy GIBB was so talented and likeable what a shame the music business and fleeting success left him a casuality.
They HAD (as in past tense..dude passed away in the late 80's) a baby brother.
These are true musicians that actually played instruments and sang the songs with their real voices. This took practice practice practice.
Master vocalists & songwriters! Untouchable.
They sound on point, in sync!! The MASTERS at work!
Makes me feel good that the younger generations are finding our beautiful music. Enjoy your journey❤🎶❤😊
As Bob Seger sang, today's music ain't got the same soul.
I love your reaction Ashley. I love to watch you appreciate what we had in music back in the day. Bee-Gees were everything.
Only Bruno Mars with Leave the Door Open has come close to reaching an old school vibe. Truth!❤
I could TELL this one 🔥⚡GOTCHA GOTCHA⚡🔥GOOD‼️
I am 70 we had REAL musicians and the most beautiful music, most uplifting ever!!!
ENJOY!
The late Quincy Jones called "Fannie be tender with my love" the best R&B
songs he Ever heard. As a legendary Producer , he heard alot of songs. Love your reaction, new Sub! 😇😁
I've watched several reaction videos of this song, and I love the way the new listener is ALWAYS blown away by the beauty of the musicianship, melody, harmony, and solos. No different here. And the thing is, this was just another song on the radio back in the day. So many were this excellent, and I didn't appreciate them enough at the time. Of course, no one back them had any idea of the CRAP that was coming our way. Much love to Ashley and to the beauty of The Bee Gees.
We had the BEST music !!!!!
You have just been BeeGee'd!
You know it's a good song with great singers when you have literally heard the song hundreds of times & it still gives you chills when you hear it.
Facts!
theres no band which can sound like theses angels theses days....real music
Excellent reaction!!! I had the same reaction, back when this first came out. I couldn't believe how great it was/is. All three brothers can hit the high falsettos. Women loved Barry Gibb, and Men wanted to be him. Incredible song.
bee gees how deep is your love
So glad you found them. They have been having hits forever. Barry Gibb is the only brother left now sadly
The baby boomers were blessed to hear and witness the best decades of music!! The Bee Gees were the icing on the cake!!!
Great reaction! Really up front and honest. A true, pure musical reaction and a very intelligent understanding of the song. 🎶 You know the real for from the garbage
Barry Gibbs and Phillip Bailey could raise the roof!
