Barry calls Andy as younger twin. If Andy didn't die in 1988, he would have joined into his brothers' group as Fourth Bee Gee. Andy did joined them at some of their concert stops. I think that was the plan to make trio into a quartet. Sadly, Andy was battling his demons of addiction.

Barry is the oldest Maurice (now passed) and Robin (now passed) were twins. Andy their youngest brother died of heart infection at the age of 30 in 1988. Only Barry left now out of the 4 of them.
Their impact on music was and is massive.
Barry changed his way of singing when he found out the higher ranges were easier for him. That opened up a huge gap in the market.
    The rest is history.
The singers they have wrote songs for is huge.

These three Musical Geniuses (who never had any formal training in musical instruments or vocals, and never learned to read musical notes, or knew about the musical scale...) brought us close to 50 years of Pure Magic!
    💖💖💖
Upon its release, the brothers donated this track to UNICEF, to help children in need, around the world. At the time, it brought in $7+ million.
Years later, they also donated their song "BLUE ISLAND", to assist children in (at the time...) wartorn Bosnia.
These three had the tightest harmonies in the music industry - and the extraordinary ability to adapt to each musical decade that they entered into, together.

Barry was able to bring vibrato into his falsetto, you don't often hear that. They wrote their own songs and arranged them as well. They had been singing together since they were very young, in their first professional appearance Barry was 11 and Robin and Maurice were 8 or 9.

Their songwriting process was unique. They composed music for the entire song first & added the lyrics later (sometimes immediately, sometimes up to 2 or 3 days later), without making any changes to the original music. In an interview, Barry said this process felt completely natural to them. Maurice/Mo was the musical/harmonic genius of the group; it was his unnecessary death in 2003 that ended the BeeGees' 40+ year career.

Awesome! You have a very LONG ride ahead! The BeeGees wrote over 100 top ten hits across nearly ALL genres of music!
One of my favorites is Nights On Broadway, but I LOVE ALL their stuff!
I don’t know if you remember, I asked you to react to Steelheart a bit back; if you like Barry’s falsetto you will truly be blown away by “Mike” Miljenko Matejevic’s astounding range and emotion. He hits notes that are on the top register for trained Soprano females, then brings it back down to tenor and even Baritone range....especially in “She’s Gone”!

Guy in the middle is Barry Gibb. Together, BeeGees were kings of disco in late 70s. Examples are Stayin' Alive, Night Fever., and More Than a Woman. Barry Gibb even recorded with the great Barbara Streisand, writing the song Guilty for their duet.
I was not a big fan of disco and overlooked BeeGees back in the day. But listening to them now, I hear rhythm and blues in their sound along with disco, particularly on this song. They remind me of a group I liked from early 70s called Stylistics. They had a guy who did the high falsetto which can be heard on a song like Betcha By Golly Wow

These artists excel beyond anything imaginable in today’s world of manufactured, automated, auto tuned vocals and over “electrifried” instrumentation. No one trick pony are they as their high harmonies here are just a part of their singing talents which cover R&B, pop, rock, ballads, disco …everything in falsetto AND regular vocals. Add their song writing masterpieces and you have a once in a mega generation type of talent.

Barry Gibb formed a group called the Bee Gees with his brothers Maurice and Robin. The trio had their first hit in 1967. They became even more famous in the 1970s with their stirring ballads and catchy dance songs. Gibb also worked with other artists, including Kenny Rogers and Barbra Streisand.

We were just high school kids back then ... The jokes flew very low ... On subject this time.
