    The Bee Gees were a family band from Australia. Barry Gibb (the guy in the middle) was recently awarded a Kennedy Center Honor for his contributions to the music industry. He's written songs for other singers as well as their group. Sadly the other two brothers have passed away. Barry has been married to his wife for over 50 years. As you can tell, I'm a long time Bee Gees fan!!!

      The Bee Gees wrote over 1,000 songs. At one point , they outsold the Beatles..there were 4 brothers , who grew up in poverty, but they had talent , ambition and each other. Barry's signature falsetto was discovered quite by accident, and led much to the group's success. Robin had a great voice too, and Maurice was fantastic with multiple instruments. One of the greatest groups in history.

    Kathy here. Three brothers, one mic and no auto-tune. Music that will never be duplicated ever. This group has always been "one of a kind", and others have tried, some come close, but none can ever be like the Bee Gees. Sadly Barry, the lead singer, is the only brother left. If you want to hear a song they wrote and recorded, there was a tribute to the Bee Gees years ago, and Keith Urban, a country legend performed one of theirs called To Love Somebody, with Barry sitting in the audience with his wife of over 50 years. Actually, this song was a long song to Barry's wife. Thanks for your reaction. I know it was a while ago, but I just found it. Have a blessed day.

    These Bee Gees are from my era, as I’m 79 and a white woman. The astonishing thing about them is that they never studied music. They wrote all these awesome songs without even knowing how to write the music. They’re just incredibly creative and heart centered. Staying alive is one of my favorite songs that they’ve done. Because they wrote the music for Grease, and for Saturday night fever.

    • @oregonchick76
      @oregonchick76 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      You almost can't pick a BAD BeeGees song because they're guaranteed to have good melodies and harmonies regardless. I recently learned that "Jive Talkin'" was a comeback hit for them -- disco had become all the rage and people wanted dance music more that the tender ballads they were known for. They were trying to come up with a new album and maybe a new sound or style while in Miami. They kept driving across Biscayne Bay on the I-95 bridge, and somebody noticed the car made a strange rhythmic sound and joked, "That's just our drive talkin'." They turned that sound into the rhythm and bass line of the song. They retooled the lyrics and wound up with their first #1 hit since "More Than a Woman," and it gave them a push into their disco sound, where they obviously thrived.

Second place is another Brit, Elton John. When I'm depressed, just listening to the Bee Gees takes all of my worries away. Disco. More precisely, 1970s disco. When I tell people what my favorite music is they sometimes roll their eyes and ask, "wait, really"? LOL. No, Andy wasn't at the height of his career when he died. He was struggling to make a come back when he died. Andy's career height was when he was 18-22 years old. He died at 30, broke, living in Robin's house.

    They were amazing. The harmony was so tight that you could not ignore them. They were always pleasing to the ear. I could never understand how their falsetto was so natural and enduring. They were a major part of the soundtrack of my life. A flame slowly dying, Barry is the last man standing.

    The Bee Gees dominated the disco era in the late 70's and early 80's. Barry Gibb has the best falsetto voice of all time. These brothers are remarkable. Barry, and twins Robin and Maurice. They sound a little like the Stylistics.

    If you want to know why they sound so good together, just look to their name Bee Gee's stands for Brothers Gibb. They were actual family and sang together since they could make noise. Sibling harmony is not duplicatable.

    The Gibb Brothers formed the Bee Gees in their teens. They are English born and raised in Australia in the same town I grew up in. They found massive international fame in the 70s. Their brother Andy also had a solo career. Barry is the only one still living. I love them.

      The family is English, but their mum and dad moved to the Isle of Man for a while and that's where they were born before coming back to Manchester in England. They later moved to Australia for a while, when Barry, the eldest was 12 in 1958, and then came home to England as their careers took off in 1967 when Barry was 21. In 1975 they moves to the US to work on an album in Miami. They then years later took US citizenship, but retaining UK citizenship and keeping homes in both the USA and UK.

    I do believe that the brothers were singing falsetto in the pure 432 tone. When they hit the highest note, specifically Barry, it automatically chokes me up and brings me to tears. That is the power of the 432, many state it is the 'God frequency'.

    I’m 53 and grew up listening to the BeeGees. Their vocals and harmonization are unmatched. If you look into their discography, you’ll be amazed at the songs they wrote, not only for themselves, but for many other hit makers too. You asked what happened to them… sadly, twins Robin (left) and Maurice (right) have passed away. Barry (center) is still alive and writing music. They had a younger brother, Andy, who was a solo singer; he had several hits of his own. Tragically, Andy died at the age of 30 in ‘88. You have a lot of great discovery ahead of you!

    No auto tune....no synthesized music....this is from a time when music included strings, horns...the whole gambit....no one today can compete with the harmonizing (without effort) that these three routinely achieved...although I didn't care for the disco error (which some of their songs delved into), no one can deny the pure sound they delivered
