      Spearmint Tea - reduces androgens thus helping to regulate hormones. Generally helps with adult acne and many cystic acne. 1 or 2 bags a throughout the day. BE CAREFUL of how much you drink, because it is tough on your kidneys. Highly recommend you research this before drinking too much.

    Key Takeaways:
    00:00 - Focus on improving internal health to address acne root causes, including minimizing inflammation and hormonal imbalance through diet, sleep, and stress management.
    05:01 - Avoid high glycemic foods, dairy, and processed snacks; opt for fruits, vegetables, and natural, unprocessed foods. Consider making smoothies for convenience and nutrition.
    08:12 - Incorporate green tea into your daily routine for its rich antioxidants, which can promote healthier skin and reduce oxidative stress.
    09:37 - Consider vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) supplements as a potential acne treatment, as it aids in skin moisture retention, barrier repair, and toxin prevention.
    11:27 - Manage stress and prioritize sleep to regulate hormone levels, reduce inflammation, and support overall skin health.
    13:17 - Maintain skin hygiene by keeping tools clean, showering before bed, and minimizing face touching to prevent bacteria transfer and skin irritation.
    14:22 - Reduce makeup usage, especially during acne flare-ups, and take advantage of hormonal cycles to transition to wearing less makeup.
    16:41 - Avoid popping zits, but if necessary, only pop ripe ones using sterilized tools and cover with spot patches to aid healing and prevent infection.

      Hey guys, I want to add one more according to my experience. Gut health! Gut health is the key as well, if you experience constipation for such a long time, watch out, it can also cause your acne breakout due to toxic residual. And facial environment is another thing, do not wash your face with too high or too low pH cleansers, and cleansing oil is highly recommended as it can wash off almost all of the dirts and excessive oil on your face while still moisturizing your skin. My skin used to have an ideal environment for Pacnes to live hence I struggled a lot, and even changing skincare routine will not help. If you experience same thing as mine, please use antibiotic to kill P acnes and then slowly adapt to a better skincare routine, I’m sure it will be a game changer

    Stopping dairy and refined carbs was a game changer for me. I used to get painful cystic acne; people underestimate the power of diet. Stress mitigation is harder for me because it just appears all the time at school, I feel like I can’t anticipate it or reduce it from happening.

    • @kyucumber6319
      @kyucumber6319  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      Yeah I 100% agree it's hard to maintain good balance for all of these things (stress, food, skincare, etc) especially if you have important priorities like school and work in your life. So maybe try to optimize other things you can control as much as you can and hopefully that will also positively affect your energy level and stress!

    I completely agree with your video. Many people often resort to harsh skincare products or harmful drugs to deal with acne, when they should focus their fundamentals first. In order to have healthy skin, I believe there are 5 main pillars of concern to address; from the most important going down:
    1. Diet/Gut health
    2. Sleep
    3. Daily bowel movements
    4. Manage stress levels
    5. Hygiene

    • @kyucumber6319
      @kyucumber6319  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +169

      I definitely agree with all the benefits of Tretinoin which I actually tried 2 times.
      I saw a great result in the first round but after a year, my acne started to come back despite of continued usage, so I decided to stop using it.
      The 2nd time I was on, it just didn't seem to work on reducing my acne while the purge and extreme dryness / irritation continued for several months.
      So I think it can also just come down to your internal health issues. Instead of using prescribed Tret, I now occasionally use L'Oreal 0.3% Pure Retinol Night Serum, which still has high potency of Retinol but with other soothing ingredients, it didn't cause any purge and I find it much easier on my skin. Plus, it's an over the counter product which I find much easier to access.

    The most informative video I ever watch for a girl like me who suffer severe acne since I'm 12 years old😔

  • @dian277
    @dian277 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +21

    i've had pretty bad acne from puberty, ~11yo, to adulthood, ~30. I almost never wore make up, i didn't start drinking only half a cup of milk daily until ~25. I never regularly ate fast food, but I eat sweets that also contain milk regularly, was stressed and didn't get at least 8hrs of sleep per night most of the time throughout my academic years (middle school to grad school), didn't drink enough water, didn't clean linens regularly and used to pop my acne and touch my face with my fingers.
    I haven't really tried any medication until recent years. I have tried reducing sugar, dairy sweets and caffine intake and drinking more water. I'm washing my linens regularly now and not touching my face. I can't do anything about stress or sleep because of school and work. I have tried retinoid topicals and oral antibiotic which didn't make a significant difference. I'm using the OTC Differin gel and oral birth control now. I have to say, reducing sugar and dairy sweets didn't do anything significant, but avoiding caffeine did, which is why i'm hesitant to drink tea. I now mostly drink decaffeinated coffee with half a cup of milk only once a day. Also didn't notice any significant difference from washing linen, not touching my face or mornings after i get enough sleep.
    The only thing that significantly helped with my acne were reducing caffeine, Differin gel and oral birth control, and with no side effects that i'm aware of. Differin is made of adapalene, which is an alternative form of retinoid. The oral birth control reduces testosterone, which is a major hormone that causes acne. Spironolactone is another medication that reduces testosterone and is often used for severe cystic acne. I still have white/black heads and sebaceous filaments, but very few red comedones or cycsts. I have started wearing make up more frequently, ~2 times per week, and haven't noticed my acne getting any worse.
    Reducing sugar, and eating more fresh vegetables and fruits have major benefits in health overall, so i'm still doing that regardless of how little effect they have on my acne.
    My conclusion is that, good diet, hygiene, sleep and destress are great and should be done for the overall health, but when it comes to reducing acne, it varies by person. Same with medication, because everyone's cause of acne is different, they should use medication that treats the cause and not just any medication. Everyone also tolerates the side effects of medication differently, so you do have to try around before finding one that works best for you.

    I love these tips! I admit I have the worst diet and I also work night shifts, and I believe it's the culprit for my adult acne! I'd just seen a dietitian who provided me meal plans to help lose weight and I'm currently on a Mediterranean/DASH diet which focuses a lot on whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and lesser sodium. I can't wait to see the effects on my skin. I hope it improves. My acne inflammation goes away easily but the dark spots are so difficult to remove. They just stay on my cheeks for like forever. My skin at the moment is like your skin last year. Hope it goes away with proper diet and exercise.

    Thank you for this video. I have a very similar story to your acne journey. I have taken accutane twice, and by round 2 I felt terrible. While it did clear my acne, I felt anxious and less motivated in life. I decided to stop taking it near the end of the second round. I instantly felt better, but my skin was returning to it’s original state of acne. Although it wasn’t cystic acne like before it was still acne. Hello! Just came across your video on the morning of my derm appointment (what are the odds haha) and I can't thank you enough! I've been on accutane before with thankfully minimal side effects at the time but since then, my acne (and subsequent scarring/hyperpigmentation has gotten so bad it's really been affecting my confidence). I was determined to ask my dermatologist for a second round but after watching your video, I realised how much I can be doing without jumping back into the accutane rabbit hole. I mean, what's the point of clearing the acne up for a while only for it to come back with a vengeance lol...

    Omg! Thank you so much for validating everyone, but I FEEL SO SEEN bc when I did take accutane I also felt a mood swings (severely) and I did start to have massive depression and thoughts.
    I also made my research online, but when I brought it up to my doctor he said the exact same thing as yours.
    I try it for a second time, and it was still bad. I finished the treatment but it didn’t really help out my skin that much

    I do agree healthy foods do improve our skin a lot. Other than benefiting the skin, something i do notice after consistently eating healthy well balanced meals is my overall health and mental health improved tremendously. I am quite shocked at how positive my emotions were the whole month i ate healthily (i usually was quite depressed like 10 days before my period starts due to hormonal change). And also, my period usually has a lot of dark big blood clots but that month, my period was like pure fresh bloods. Period pain was also lessened by a lot. I am truly impressed how well balanced meals impact my body. I don't take any suppliment that whole month too other than vitamin c which i started taking many years ago everyday.

    My acne improved 80% when I just stopped using my neutrogena cleanser and cetaphil moisturizer. I “detoxed” by using nothing for months, and now it’s waaay better. They were either too strong or too oily (even the oily skin one). My skin also looks better when I’m in the sun and moving. Maybe it’s from the sweat clearing out pores and drinking more water. Now I’ve reintroduced the tiniest amount of Burt’s Bees gentle cleanser to remove dirt etc, but I don’t leave it on. I also will put on a very weak retinol on nights when I have a breakout so it can mostly dry out by morning. I’m going to try a low sugar/carb diet for a while to see if it’ll help get rid of the last bit of acne. Maybe I’ll add in the green tea and vitamin B5 as well. Could just try to get more of that through food.

    I am an 18 year old teenager currently suffering from acne. I have suffered from acne for a long time and honestly it affects my confidence so much that i started wearing mask because of it. Now i can't even live without a mask and if someone tells me to take it off, i hesitate a lot and end up not taking it off. I tried so many skincare products which potentially are well known for acne treatments but they just reduce the acne for a few days until it all comes rushing in again. So i end up dropping the usage of those treatments. At the end of the day acnes appear all over again and i fall into this cycle of acne➤stress➤acne. But now i m trying to focus on the internal health issues like my diet, sleep cycle, hydration. And your video helped me to think differently. Thank you for the tips that doesn't require you to go through harsh medicines or treatments to get rid of acne.

    I can attest that pantothenic acid helps the skin to fight off acne. I had even considered it as holy grail. It is, however, not safe for my liver. I have developed a non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) by taking a high dose of Vit b5 (mind you that I only took 6 caps of which a day for 3 mons). Bcoz of the NAFL, it coz my skin to be very itchy as well. Now im taking meds to get rid of the NAFL, and im also breaking out anew.

    • @jahgsdjashdu

      I had no liver issues before taking it. My SGPT/ALT was within the normal range. I do not smoke (obviously I dont drink alcohol as well as softdrinks) and Ive been very conscious to what i eat bcoz of hyperacidity. Hepa screening results are non-reactive as well. My Physician told me that it cud be due to high dose of Vit B5, but there is no direct correlation. I searched it online then I saw that one side effect of it is increased ALT. That convinced me to stop taking it.

    • @mkblitzgameplay4605
      @mkblitzgameplay4605 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All those times I thought that Vit B5 can counter the formation of fatty liver, but in some cases it can cause adverse effect like in my case. BTW, Ill undergo another Blood Chem and Abdominal Ultrasound in the last week of April. I might take VitB5 again but under strict monitoring and only if my SGPT/ALT falls within the normal range again. If it wasnt for acne fighting effect of VitB5, Ill wud not consider taking it anew.

    I definately had acne the worst from 15-17 im talking papules 24/7 that would turn into terrible PIE, and lotts of closed comedones on my forehead.. I knew I never wanted to go on accutane because I prefer a more holstic approach than traditional western skincare, no shade to it. After a while of stressing out over what is the best posible thing I can use for not just my acne, but my overal hormonal health. After all the over exfoliating with salicylic acid and not enough sunscreen.. I finally discovered Korean skincare!! and really dove into that, I started focusing more on hydration and anti-inflammatory ingredients and BOY did that make a difference.. I only started seeing real results at the end of 2023.. but after a year of gradually focusing on hydrating and moisturizing over exfoliation I have seen AMAZING results. I barely break out now and when I do they are small, and I also found that proper hydration really helps with my PIE!!!

    Okay taking shower every night is kinda not convenient for many people I agree with the rest of the info. When my hair are contributing in breakouts it usually break outs the side buns or the forehead. I changed so many shampoos until I found the one that doesnot breaks my skin out. I would say that herbal ones are the best. Avoid chemical shampoos as much as possible. Also still not letting your hair touch your face as a preventative measure wouldn’t be bad. Also sleeping straight and not touching the bed or comforter is the best!

    I gave tretinoin 2 full years, i was like 16 when i started it..... it worked great in the start but my acne came back after few months, i decided to be patient and gave it an other year but it was worst then before..... i had literally breakdowns cuz i cant be wasting these memorable years of my life with a face like that. anyways i decided to change my dermatologist, and told him that tretinoin didn't work, he gave me 2% clindamycin topical solution and a salicylic acid gel. it has been a year and i don't get that bad acne anymore, i do get some pimples from time to time when my internal health is really bad but its still not the same acne i used to get back then. Also my skin was at its peak literally glowing when i cut down sugars for a month, but then school air infected me after summer break lmfao. anyways at that time i realized acne is no longer my problem, i had learned how to fix it, now i mostly have clear skin and even if i get some pimples, i don't stress over it. all i have to do is eat good and keep my skin clean..... (p.s. before tretinoin i gave benzoyl peroxide a chance too and it didn't work.... so really everyone DO have different skins, its really a trial and error method to find out what works for you)

    Reducing diary helped me a lot to clear my acne! I went on this self diet avoiding sugar COMPLETELY but consuming about 2 big glass of fullfat milk daily. Little did i know that i was gonna be bombarded with the painful cystic acne all my cheeks. Worse than that i decided to continue the diet for 2 weeks, the acne got worse and worse. Knowing diary consumption was the root cause, i stopped it completely. And my skin cleared up pretty much though I've some dark spots left, but it's slowly fading away too. Note that i did not eat any kind of sugar or processed foods during the period. It was diary all along!

    In 2021 I have had acne since September , then I took Isotretinoin as per the doctor's prescription, then in December 2022, acne would come again, then in October 2023, acne would come again, then I took medicine, in April 2024, acne came again, then I took medicine
    Now in September 2024, acne is happening again
    For the last 3 years all this has been making me feel like hell 😭

    I really wanted to change my diet but its really hard since im so skinny and desperate to get bigger. What could i eat if i wanted to put more weight? What im currently doing is im avoiding dairy products but as asian in still eating rice twice a day. Im also taking the pantothenic acid which i think is the real game changer, i also take zinc picolinate and turmeric shots with probiotics. Im still dealing with hyperpigmentation and dark spots now though hopefully my korean skin care will help me especially that im getting married after two months. Its really frustrating.

      Congratulations for your upcoming marriage! 💍✨ Sounds like you're taking great supplements and food for your skin! But can I ask why you are desperate to get bigger? Haven't seen you in person so not sure how skinny you are 🤔 I'll make a video about my skin care routine and post-acne care so stay tuned!

    im gonna try this but im somewhat struggling with the diet aspect of it.. what i mean is what am i supposed to eat? i dont think ill end up eating a salad for lunch and dinner everyday so the diet part is kinda conflicting me. is there anything else other than fruits and salads that you would recommend for people to eat?

      I personally don’t eat fruits and salads only. I still eat carbs and occasionally eat fast food when I really crave them but usually after my skin has improved. But I’m extra careful with my diet when my skin flares up with new acne and develops sensitivity. The point is not to be always super strict, it’s more to gradually improve my overall lifestyle.

    Hi! Would pimples return or pop on the face if we would stop using the Pantothenic Acid B Complex Vitamin? Or does it retain the healed skin as a result of taking the vitamin?

      Hey! I can’t tell if your pimples will return once you stop taking Pantothenic acid but they may come out as much as they used to before consuming it. I still get some pimples occasionally even while taking it so honestly it really depends on your condition.
