In the first book alone, Peeta finishes off a girl for the Careers while he's pretending to team up with them, tries to kill Cato with a spear, accidentally poisons Foxface, and stabs at least one ex/part-human mutt to death. The guy may not be a born warrior, but he pulls his weight.
Yeah, he FAILED to kill Cato, but he SUCCEEDED in preventing him from killing Katniss, which was his real goal. Also, he walks, runs, strategizes, and ultimately fights for the rest of his first Games after sustaining a nearly fatal injury. Then, at the end, he gets his leg shredded so badly it has to be amputated later, and still keeps his wits about him and supports Katniss for the win. Katniss is the better fighter of the two, but Peeta is no weakling and she'd have been killed several times over without his help.
Any body else find it weird that Foxface was from district five, got rated a five by game makers, got fifth place, that’s three fives, 5x3=15, she was fifteen years old.....yeah
Notice how Clove uncontiously saved Katniss twice, first by killing the dude who was about to kill Katniss on day one then saved her by mentioning Rue before Thresh came to kill them both at the feast

They are mainly a food asset, and are usually killed off towards the end of the games
District 4 Tributes realistically are godlike survivalists. Mags was able to make a fishing hook from damn near anything, Annie won her games by just being able to swim, and Finnick's trident skills had him spearing tributes like fish.

im telling you, foxface's death was 100% a suicide. she was by far the smartest in that arena, for despite her lack of physical advantages the survived into the top 5 with the cleverest tactic and presentation of it. as the end of the games neared, she realized that sooner or later she would be forced into physical battle if she lived any longer, knew she could not win that, and decided to take the more "honorable" way out of the games. we know she posesses a profound knowledge of plants, we see how she regognizes each of them in the training room, and the edibility of berries would be something that you learn first about plants, given that they provide a reasonable source of food. so there is no way that the lethality of the nightlock went dismissed by foxface; she simply saw no better way out of the games, spied on katniss and peeta, and when no one was watching, stole some of the berries and knowingly poisoned herself to death.
Maybe she saw Peeta and Katniss collecting poisonous berries and want to warn them but couldn't say it bcuz Capitol watching every move of her and her only way to warn them is eat berries?

Why would she save two people that she didn't even know? Even if she wanted them to live long enough to kill Cato for her but then why would she kill herself in the first goddamn place? I think the suicide idea is plausible, but why not just stay in hiding with some berries in her pocket until/unless someone found her? My brain hurts.

Watched the movie yesterday and today the bloodbath in slow mo.. It is the District 3 Female that gets her left leg cut off, and then someone else slashes her with some bladed weapon. The scenes are inverted, though; first the killer move, then the amputation.
i think rue also had a high chance of winning, no one could catch her and the rest would die of natural causes, if only she hadent been caught in the net 😭

I read up something on the girl of district 3. She was actually the smartest in that arena she faked her death so no one would kill her. She also learned how to stop her heart for a few seconds then make it start again. Then she got carried up in that thing when they were cleaning the arena and she escaped from the back. Her district new but said nothing about it.

So many memorable characters. Lucky we got each of their in-depth backstories and an emotional attachment before they died to make it even more tragic.

i come to this video like once every few years, i used to be so obsessed with hunger games back in the simple days and this video is very nostalgic to me

Thresh wasn’t killed by mutts in the movie, he was killed by Cato. Katniss clarifies in one of the mockingjay films when one of the District 2 workers asks her why he shouldn’t just kill her and she says something like “ no reason, make snow happy, the same reason I killed Cato and he killed Thresh and he killed Clove, and who wins? Always Snow”
omg yes I remembered reading that in the books and was like-wait, hold up, I thought thresh was killed by cato since he was one of the mutts. It mentions it in the book somewhere
@@Hello_everyone170Cato wasn't a mutt. Basically the fallen tributes wer mutts and this happened after thresh dies. We q know that Thresh killed Clove however, what someone people don't know is that Cato got revenge and killed Thresh. Thresh wa on of the Mutts and Helped kill Cato.
I think the saddest death was Cato's ( ik just let me explain) 1) his death scene was the most brutal and the most depressing. Think about it, the speech he gave before he died. " im dead anyway, just one more kill, its all I know. Bring pride to my district, not that it matters ." 2) he was as much a victim as the others. Maybe more because he was brain washing into thinking that it's his life goal. 3) How he realized that he was just a pawn In their games. Because no matter how much bravado he has, he's still a 18 year old kid.
yeah and he was shot twice and eaten alive. But Glimmer's death and the guy who got his legs cut off were pretty bad as well. Oh, screw this. All deaths were gruesome. I guess that's the point lol
And, in the books, he was torturing all the night before he died (by the mutts). He was full of blood and he literally begged Katniss to kill him. I feel sorry for him:(
Just a theory: Didnt Foxface learn how to stop her heart beating? It is likely she knew she couldn't win, so she pretended that she died by nightlock when the camera wasn't around her. This might mean that she was sent back to district 5 and outsmarted the whole of Panem!

I actually did a musical with the girl from District 10. She was pretty cool, and was quite proud of being in the movie. Considering I played the villain in the musical we did, i had to crack jokes that it seemed she had a penchant for playing characters that died
Dang, the District 4 Female is more badbutt than I thought. She survived an impressive amount of time for an unnamed tribute and AMPUTATED SOMEONE'S LEGS. massive slay.
Yeah this vid has a bunch of made up stuff. In the behind the scenes clips of them choreographing the fight you can see that the district 6 dude does this : He first gets beaten up by cato and left for dead, then he loses a fight over a backpack against the district 10 boy, he strangles the D5 boy but gets his head smashed into a crate, then he grabs a sword and attempts to kill glimmer and finally gets stabbed by cato inside the cornucopia.
@@imwinningthisone7613they used some stunt doubles and stand ins to reach the 24 tribute number. That boy you mentioned probably showed up a lot throughout the movie if he was a stunt double.
@@ruthcaperchione4103 It's the same actor for that exact character, the scene where he dies was just cut from the movie. They had a person for each tribute, the only characters that had stunt doubles were main characters.
There’s actually a theory that FoxFace ate those berries on purpose to kill herself. In the books, it mentions several times that she’s incredibly intelligent, and aces all of the poisonous plants and berries tests. In the movies, it also shows her knowledge with plants and berries. It was down to her, Katniss, Peeta, and Cato. Although she was smart, and fast, Cato was bigger and stronger. With both Katniss and Peeta working together, she knew she didn’t stand a chance. So, she stole the Nightlock from Peeta and ate it, knowing that it would kill her.
the boy at 1:45 had a lot of screen time for such a minor character that dies so quick, i think he would have had a very significant role if he had lived.

Yeah and Annie Thurman is a great actress too! I would loved for her to have teamed up with District 8 girl (seeing as she was only 13 and yet somehow had the same odds as Clove) and they could face off the others together!
MARGUERITE GORMAN yeah but she was clever, knowing there were land mines, she knew she was going to die so she just killed herself with the berries which was a quick and painless way. If Cato was to kill her, it would be painful and a really slow death.
Like another comment above says, Katniss says she doesn’t recognize the berries from training but remembers them from her father teaching her. It was Peetas arrogance that made her think she was out smarting them by stealing. I think it was just timing of Peeta collecting them and her thinking she’s smarter than all the other tributes

Her death wasn't a suicide. Why would she do that when she was so far ahead. She believed the berries were safe because Peeta did and she was emaciated, so probably fuzzy from hunger and not thinking clearly.
Jamie Roberts It was suicide because if you watch the training scene, she is playing a memory game about which berries are safe and which are not. It is kind of obvious that she knew they would kill her, and she knew she couldn’t win, but if it had looked like she purposefully killed herself, Snow would have punished her family, so she made it look like an accident.

brenda vega the book is better they switched the deaths in the book someone killed thresh and in the movie the mutts killed him and in the book katniss never finished cato!
Dani _ actually Katniss does mercy kill Cato in the book it just takes way longer. They’re listening to him for hours before she uses her last arrow to shoot him in the head out of pity. Also Cato was the one who killed thresh in the book, and this list is wrong because Marvel was shot in the chest not neck

I read up something on the girl of district 3. She was actually the smartest in that arena she faked her death so no one would kill her. She also learned how to stop her heart for a few seconds then make it start again. Then she got carried up in that thing when they were cleaning the arena and she escaped from the back.
