    Great project Damian 👍
    I genuinely think you have done the hardest part of the removal process. Those Cats 😟 scare me!
    Bad access and massively heat cycled fixings .
    I’ve been asked before if I worry about my cats getting stolen when I street park for work gigs. I always say no. If they can get them off at the side of the road even with a disc cutter, I would video it😂
    I’ve done most jobs on most cars but have never been inside an auto box.
    I watched some of the time while a transmission expert did my drum replacement in PJ. And he said the trick is
    A) remember where everything comes from
    B) work super clean
    Good luck mate I will watch with interest👍

      John, cheers thanks for the comment. I would agree the CATs are pretty tricky to removed and impossible to remove quickly as tucked up into the engine compartment out of the way. Not sure I am going inside the gearbox either as probably needs an A drum and all the clutch plates. I think I going to leave that to the experts but will decide once it’s out. Would love try fitting the manual s-type gearbox but that might be too expensive a project. Got to get it off first. Thanks for the encouragement, regards Damian.

    Hi Damien Will look forward to seeing this series. Your chain and tensioner series was instrumental in me doing the job on my own Xk8 so thank you 👍

    Damian, I'm also preparing to pull out the transmission and torque converter on my X100, so I'm familiar with Weekend Warrior's video. Between his video, and your videos on removing the exhaust and cats, I think I'll be fine. I removed and replaced my cats 3 years ago without any issues, so I think I'll be fine removing them again. My only concern is the 100 Kilos that the transmission weighs, as I'll be doing it by myself, with the car elevated off the ground, and on my back. I plan on using my 2-ton motorcycle jack and adapting a transmission cradle to it. Using a motorcycle jack, rather than a trolly-type jack, will have much more stability.

      Warren, I have watched weekend Warriors very informative videos too.
      My concern was also the weight and support of gearbox. I have seen lots of examples using very simple jack setups without any issues. Personally I wanted to get something secure and adjustable making using it a bit safer and easier to use. Only got my 3 ton trolly jack. Found a secondhand transmission jack CT2422 for reasonable money. Interested to hear more about your project, regards Damian

      @@ODRModurol Damian, I should be pulling the transmission in about 30-60 days using my motorcycle jack. Then I plan to drive it from Florida to Connecticut for repair by ZF's partner, Eriksson Transmissions. Have a great day, Warren

      Warren, good luck with your gearbox rebuild, not the cheapest thing to do on an XK8 but hopefully will not need doing again, regards Damian

      Steven, Much appreciate the support and advice. Definately, easier and probably overall less costly just to give to an Automotive Gearbox specialist. Just want to learnt a bit more about the car and see if I can do it. Plus chance to do a few little jobs whilst the gearbox is out. It is going to be a bit of journey, fingers crossed it goes OK, regards Damian

    Good luck with that mate, you are a braver man than me, are you going to rebuild it yourself or send it to ZF?

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Jonathan, cheers. Probably send it away to the experts. I think it needs a complete reconditioning from someone who knows what’s OK and what’s not. Would hate to complete a DIY fix only to miss something and have to do it again plus more expense. A few more obstacles to go before need to make that decision. Thanks for the interest, regards Damian

    Hey Sir a question: If I bought new Head Bolts torqued them and have a water leak. Do I need to buy new head bolts to start over? Have not started Car yet and Heads have been milled.

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Vincent, thank you for your question. Sorry, to hear you are having problems with a water leak. I have never done any head work on my cars but I know the head bolts stretch when torqued up correctly. If you start again you will need to use new bolts. Not sure why it would be leaking would be interested to when you find out. (Bad gasket, machining or torque sequence?). Good luck regards Damian
