Damian, so happy you are making these types of videos again! Great tips as usual! Often the manuals and other videos explain how to do this and that, but what's often missing is the odd challenging bolt or the detailed instructions on how to remove a plug for eg. Never the same way huh... That's why I love your videos, you always provide very useful tips. Your detailed descriptions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Alexander, thanks for your support and encouragement. Interestingly, we have got the workshop manual out and are following the steps. Agree the manual isn’t very helpful other than defining the sequence of doing things. Especially lacking any advice to help with poor access and the best tools to use. For me that is the unique selling point of ‘how to ‘TH-cam videos in general. Thats what I’m aiming to do. Thanks for your appreciation of that, I know it’s not time wasted, regards Damian
You might want to drain a couple of litres out if the radiator first. And also the reservoir in the wheel well. BTW, thanks for pointing out the location of the reservoir.
George, need to remove the tank and then sensor from the bottom. Possibly the sensor seal has failed and needs renewing. Hope that helps, regards Damian
@@ODRModurol thank you i have a low coolant light on now and its most likely the sensor in the tank and the shop is backed up for 3 weeks,i dont like to work on my cars lol.
Hello & tho long winded. Helpful tho on my 1998 tank. The two 9.8mm pipes that come off to Pressurise the system. 1 is missing & 1 goes to the Diaphragm thing / you said 1 was blanked off ?? = DO I put a 10mm bit of blanking plug over tank pipe outlet. Or fit a pipe that goes to somewhere that's Missing on mine & on everyone else's filling tank ;-) Google/ Haynes manual to see where your 2nd rubber pipe goes to down the head of engine to left hand wing somewhere?? While other goes to that Diaphragm device in middle of engine. = if its supposed to be pressurised system. Having an open pipe hole isn't good for my car ?? WHAT TO DO before it's to late tho she's not over heated yet ;-)
Damian, thank you your feedback. The additional pipe originally went to the top of the radiator to assist with removing air traps. New header tanks come with one of the pipes already blocked. Early cars need this drilled out to provide this connection. There is more explanation in another linguistics winded video see link at the bottom. Hope that helps, regards Damian😉 Jaguar XK8 Usual expansion tank problem, differences and low coolant messages V153 XKR/X100 th-cam.com/video/-nlm3bALBhg/w-d-xo.html
@ODRModurol Thankyou. That's one thing I never checked for = to see if the other pipe connector (without pipe like yours on) To see if its not drilled out , tho I now think not or with movement of fluid & stuff. I think the engine bay would be coverd in coolent being lower than fill level. Tho definitely going to check once rain goes ,-) Thankyou & will watch your Cam tensioner guide replacement video soon ;-)
Thanks for the video - very useful - was able to replace my tank in the XKR yesterday and no more leak :)
Darren, glad it worked out for you and thank you for the feedback, regards Damian
@@ODRModurol now I just have the rust to tackle! And apply for a mortgage for the fuel...

Hello, thank you for video. What to do is sensor below is leaking?

Can the level sensor clip be lost? Thanks
David, yes it can be flicked off by mistake and lost. I know as still looking for mine, regards Damian
@@ODRModurol will it still work with the clip lost? Thank you.
@davidewell7427, yes it will still work. It is the plug remaining clip, without the wire plug might vibrate loose, regards Damian
