We had restricted performance come up on our XKR that turned out to be a dud coil pack on number 3. We replaced just the number 3 coil pack & all was well until a couple of weeks later when the restricted performance came back. No mucking about this time; we replaced all the coil packs & plugs as they were all the same age as the number 3 coil pack & we anticipated they would all start playing up in due course. No further problems since doing the coil packs & plugs.
That's great that you found the cause of your issue, and a great shout to replace all the coil packs and plugs. We love little wins that are so effective 😍
Here's an idea for you and all the diy guys out there, find a cup cake baking pan with 6-12 slots, use that to keep the nuts and bolts in, it will help everything tidy and not rolling everywhere, also to organize/group them together, it will make it easier for you.
Hi John, I really appreciate you getting in touch buddy. What a great idea, I have never thought about using something like that. I have since bought some magnetic trays, but I love that idea as it gives you separate compartments to store it in 👍 Thanks again for your input buddy 👌
@@projectsinthebarn I find it very helpful if you have to change out a starter in a Toyota sequoia, many steps at different levels before you get down in there, so the tray helps organize where things go along the way.
I picked mine up from the South Coast to Solihull and within a few miles the same thing happened. That said it was reaching speed limit (ho hum), but wouldn't go over 3000 revs. Mine was No7 cylinder. I bought a couple more as spares as I think mine were the original ones as well. Touchbwood, no problems since. In got side swipped parked outside my Dad's a couple of weeks ago and they took the wing mirror off. That was a nice little bill!!!
Hi buddy, firstly, gutted for your jag getting hit whilst it was parked up, hope its been fixed up OK? I have just come back from its test run and its all good, runs sweet as a nut, so fingers crossed we have sorted the problem. I do think the battery may be on its way out also, I had it in charge for an age and its still not at full capacity. At least that gives me something else to do on it 👍
Yeah parked up. Luckily the independent Jag garage not far from me was taking one in as scrap the week after I called. So they took that one off and sprayed the cover to match. Glad yours is all.sorted :-)
Simon, always loved your channel...Big thanks for this latest one. My XKR had the same thing last week and its been a bit overwhelming on where to start, but after watching your vid, you have eased my stress brilliantly 😊 and I will do the same thing. Thanks again😉👍
They like to throw up a challenge or two don't they, fingers crossed your's turns out to be a simple fix too. It's just nuts and bolts, so nothing to get too stressed with 😃
Hi buddy, thanks for your kind comments. Those top mounts have been slowly deteriorating since I've owned the old girl, it's definitely on my to do list 👍
Hi David, good to hear from you mate. I know exactly where you're coming from, I have had a whole brace of jags and have ticked all the boxes you mention 😉 with my latest project XKR I'm dealing with the rust at the moment. But I guess it's all down to what takes your fancy 😀👍
Hi udo, good to hear from you and happy easter to you too. I seem to have cracked the problem as two test drives in the fault has not reappeared, so fingers crossed its all sorted 👍
The ignition coil was burned by a short circuit. A little tip from me: please use a brass brush for cleaning. The spark plugs. And carefully clean the air mass meter sensor mit cotton swab.before installation.😅
Totally agree with the brass brush, I never had one to hand 🫢 I will take on board your advice with the air meter, and will do that when I service the car over the next few weeks 👍
Hi buddy, I'm glad you got your issues fixed. It looks like I'm having issues with my XKR project that indicates a faulty MAF sensor. Fingers crossed, I can get to the bottom of that 🙏
@Eddie-h3q hi Eddie, it's good to hear from you, buddy. To be honest, i have tried the brand new after-market coil packs, and also second-hand ge yine jaguar coil packs. If I had to choose again, I would definitely go for genuine jaguar ones, which are manufactured by denso. If you identify which is your problem coil pack, then check the part number on top of that, and also check if it is a 2 pin or a 4 pin plug, which is simple the amount of pins the electrical connector has that goes into each coil pack. Auto reserve jaguar is always a good source for genuine used parts. If not, Berkshire Jag components are a great source for brand new parts for genuine and after-market. I hope this helps. If you have anything else, please just let me know. Cheers. Simon.

Hi John, thanks for your kind comments. Initial early tests are positive, I have just driven it into work 9 miles and all is well 👍
Great video. Also noticed your strut mount top is on the way out :-)
