    Another outstanding haul Tom! Nothing beats estate sales for the best buys. Especially on the last day! That jig saw is double insulated so there is no need for a 3 prong cord, they worked great and lasted forever! $50 was a ton of money back then! Great stuff!!!!!!!!

    Nice haul Tom, definitely got your money’s worth. Some nice stuff in there, but I agree with you, my favorite item is that tack puller. The tote is cool also. Never seen one of those before. Now you just have to make room and find homes for it all in your shop. Slim pickins around here for any sales. Can’t wait till spring when they fire back up. Good video thanks

    Just a tip for the torpedo level. Try to find a plastic case that contains it well and securely. Because they are magnetic, if you leave them in your toolbox, they pick up all kinds of little grindings that are virtually impossible to clean off of the magnet. These obviously throw off the level. If you keep it in a case and carefully wipe it down before and after use, they are much more reliable

    Nice haul on some great American made tools. I've got a pair of linesman pliers with a similar nick in the blade and I use that part of the blade for stripping wire. Works good. 😄 That rotary rasp works really well on wood. Use min when installing locks. Love those Craftsman tools! Great video Tom!

    I have owned this exact jigsaw. It is an excellent design, being able to steer with the tip and not just the body of the tool is very useful particularly for tight turns. I have to warn you though, the little lever switch that locks out that handle? It fails quite often and usually in the middle of use. It seems to want to stay loose and steerable which can be a difficult pain when you are cutting something out relatively square. I had some luck replacing the little bent steel portion behind the switch with a heavier piece of steel. It happens much less often, but it still happens

    Hi Tom
    I can remember when I first started using tools my dad had one of them saber saws with the wheel on top. When I used it I found that it was just easier moving your wrist going around curves than to turn the knob. With a good blade you shouldn't have any trouble going through 3/4 inch plywood.
    You definitely got more than $20 worth that's for sure.
    Have a Jesus filled day everyone

    I was just thinking about this, almost all of us bemoan The loss of Great American tool companies to China. Many of us also Revere Craftsman tools for their quality. But Craftsman never made anything, only put their names on other people's products. So wasn't Sears Craftsman essentially the first outsourcing tool manufacturer? Why do we revere this company? They were the absolute first to start sending work overseas. Their business model was the basis for all of these Chinese tools with great American names. It really speaks to the power of their propaganda, most of us revere craftsmen as a great company. In their time, they were very similar to Amazon. They had a functional monopoly and copied many manufacturers inventions under their own name. They also used powerful lawyers to defend these unethical practices. So why do we all love craftsmen? They started the race to the bottom

    • @TomGunnTools
      @TomGunnTools  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jean-Paul, the last 10-15 years they basically outsourced everything oversees which lead to their vendors/U.S. tool manufacturers to lose big contracts putting a lot of them out of business. I agree for that we should despise them for that. On the flip side for 100 years they contracted U.S. companies and rebranded some quality stuff and displayed it in a magical tool departments and catalogs that we seen our grandfathers and fathers use. For that, it holds a sentimental place in our hearts for many of us. Always appreciate you! You bring so much to the comment section!
