GM has taken a solid, proven and reliable engine and turned it into a over engineered, unreliable disaster. My 2002 6L LS went to 400,000 miles without any major engine problems and the only reason why I had to scrap the truck was because the frame rotted.’

Long story short but in 2 years, 27,000 miles i went threw 2 complete engines and one transmission. Transmission went was the last failure. I had it towed to the nearst dealer, gave them all my case numbers and demanded GM buy the truck back at market price. 2 hours later i walked out with a fat check in my pocket and walked across the street to the toyota dealer and have never been happier.

Back in February I tore down and rebuilt my brother's 5.3 in his 2010 GMC Sierra 1500. The engine had almost 400k prior to me doing my magic. The AFM lifters had been replaced sometime in its life due to the wear marks on certain fasteners. I only discovered one stock normal roller lifter that was at the beginning stage of wiping out the lobe. I installed Texas Speed DOD delete kit and adjusted the mapping of the engine to maximize the efficiency and drivability, my brother didn't want to use the Texas Speed cam, so I chose the BTR Truck Norris cam and that bump stick really done excellent.

WOW...10 LARGE to fix this problem. No wonder a shop told me that GM's remedy was a complete engine replacement. I have an '07 Avalanche with the 5.3 engine. I started getting error messages including traction control errors. Eventually, we got our hands on a good code reader and discovered my #7 cylinder wasn't firing properly. The DOD or AFM uses those special lifters in cylinders #1, #4, #6, and #7, two of which are deactivated at a time so you are running on 4, 6, or 8 cylinders. I did some research and discovered which parts would be needed as well as where to get my ECM reflashed. In all, the parts were about $ 500 and the reflash was $ 50. I needed a new cam and lifters, and a new valley pan. Of course, new top end bolts and gaskets. I used the same pushrods and all other intake components. This was the first LS I had taken apart. I have heard you can get the lifters out without removing the heads, but didn't know that when I worked on mine. I would recommend simply removing the entire front end: fenders, inner fenders, radiator and support, grille and bumper before diving in head first, it will save your back and make accessing some bolts much easier. I also heard that Summit Racing has a kit for this cam/lifter replacement. So less than a Grand to replace the defective parts plus my time involved. I replaced all 16 lifters and used a cam for a 4.8 litre LS. I have over 40K miles on the truck after the fix and it runs fine, perhaps even better than before. You'll need regular hand tools, wrenches, sockets, etc, and a torque wrench that does foot pounds then degrees. Don't use your old head bolts, they are one-use bolts and the stretch is a factor in properly torquing them down. It might be a good time to have your radiator flushed and to replace your belt idlers.

Thanks for addressing their issue. We have a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali with the 6.2 L86 engine. At about 68k miles had a lifter failure and was fixed under warranty (100k). Just about 70k miles later that exact lifter started making noise again. Now not under warranty I took the engine apart myself and found the roller on the end of the lifter had been ground flat, the cam lobe and push rod damaged. I also found the lifter tray cracked which either allowed the lifter to turn or the failing lifter caused it to turn cracking the tray. The price/labor of doing a cam swap on a now 150k+ mile engine really isn't worth it (half of a lifter roller somewhere in the engine, lots of metal shavings, and a damaged lifter bore) and for a while now a new 6.2 L86 long block isn't available. So I'm kind of screwed on how to fix it. I did just buy an engine from engine swap supply with the DOD delete. ($8400)

This has been an issue since GM introduced AFM in late 2007. I had to replace all the lifters in my buddy's 07 sierra because one got stuck in the collapsed position (he was terrible with preventative maintenance though lol). It's Pretty sad that BRAND NEW GM/Chevy trucks are still experiencing this issue. I currently own an 08 sierra with the 5.3, the previous owner was religious with oil changes and maintenance. Still I decided to shut the AFM off with a superchips programmer and have not had any issues thus far (just rolled over 167,000 miles). Hey Guys, 2015 Denali Crew 6.2l. I purchased new last day of 2015. It has been a terrible experience in both vehicle and dealership. FYI, GM did have known problems and a TSB on a variety of New models that they asked dealership to repair before being sold.
I experienced transmission problems within the first 10k miles. When brought in for repair I was told they were aware of some issues but there was no repair available and my transmission was not considered defective enough to qualify for replacement. Have you ever had a bad torque Cinverter? Where it locks up and shutters real bad? It was bad.
With just under 50k the engine had lifter fail. Different dealership replaced cam and lifters as well as transmission.
At about 85k the transmission started acting up again. It was Covid and I couldn't be without a truck. 95k the engine started running rough again. The 2015 models had factory 5/100 mile warranty. By the time I was able to get to the dealership the truck had 99,521 miles and it was 12/27/20.
I expressed to the service writer that the truck really needed the engine replaced.
They called and had found a collapsed lifter #8 cylinder. They were only going to do a cam and lifters.
When I picked up the truck I again expressed I was concerned about future issues and that now my warranty would be expired. I was told since this was a new repair if there were any issues within 12/12k miles it was warranted.
3 months and 2k miles later. I hear a bang, then tapping running rough a Christmas tree of lights. I had the truck towed to the dealership. I get the call. Sir, your truck dropped a valve. The engine needs to be replaced. I said okay when will you have it done? It is under warranty right? Silence......
I was told he needed to speak with the service director he'd call me back. I said that was fine and asked what cylinder the valve had drop. Yep #8.
Of course the next day I was told that this would not be covered under warranty. (I have been around, raced, worked at a machine shop building motors and been in just about every aspect of the car business. I know a little.).
I ask why isn't it covered? You told me when I picked the truck up it was warranted.
Sir, the valve dropping has nothing to do with the initial repair. They are 2 totally different things that are not related to each other. Speechless......
    The estimate was $11k.
I finally spoke with the service director that went no where.
In the mean time Covid and the lockdowns caused my businesses to go belly up. I lost everything.5 foreclosure in 2 years.
The truck sat at the dealership for nearly a year. We brought a car trailer and picked it up the other day. I got it home and pulled the head. There is no visible damage to the cylinder or head. I did find a small cup with the valve, valve keepers and a broken spring.
I was relieved that it may be an affordable repair. But I woke up the next day and now I'm thinking why would they tell me it needed an engine?
I feel they were not being ethical.
    Sorry for the rant.
    .

Same thing happened to me but it was for my 2013 yukon denali. I had a lifter failed took it to the dealership and before doing a diagnostic a service manager said it was the transmission . I knew it wasn't the transmission. How are you going to say its the transmission if they hadn't done a diagnostic. They were charging $1,500 just to open the motor and see which lifter had failed. Wanted 6,500 for a new transmission not including labor because they said transmission fluid smelled burnt, the truck had 110,000 miles of course the fluid wasn't going to be the cleanest. And 4,500 for a new engine. I was really disappointed because I had just purchased the truck for a month. I took the truck to a local transmission and engine mechanic told me the transmission was good, only thing needed to be done was new camshaft and lifters total cost was $3500. I did a full dod delete, truck has been running perfect. NEVER again am I going to a dealership.

If you have a broken valve spring dont just put a new spring and put it back together, or it will happen again. The broken spring is caused by a bad lifter. The clip that holds the "cup" inside the body of the lifter comes loose and then gets caught, not allowing the hydraulic part of the lifter to collapse, which in turn over extends the valve spring and breaks it. I'm not going to say what I do for a living because that wouldn't be a good idea on a video like this, but trust me you have a bad lifter. It's not just a broken spring.

2014 Silverado 5.3 - First thing I would like to mention, I disabled afm via Range Finder at 55k and around 75k I started getting lifter tick, I switched to Royal Purple 0w 20 and after 10k miles an 2nd oil change the tick went away. Now I have been running nothing but Royal Purple an at 122k miles my engine purrs as it should and I havnt heard anymore ticks (knock on wood)
My List of issues and a couple other recommendations based on my experience of owning the truck for 122k Miles
    Ac issue replaced condenser
    3rd brake light leak
Shut truck off one day and rad fans were 100% with keys out, changed at the same time coolant sensor and thermostat (tstat was running engine cooler then usual around 175 180 degrees, in my
truck its supposed to be 207 degrees noticed 1 MPG improvement after replacement and got my Hot Heat back for them cold days... Issue resolved
Tc failed needed entire transmission, new lines and did rear main seal since why not easy to do at that point and 2nd new condenser as part of the trans job
Noticing braking issue now at 122k so booster next
Getting Random Stabilitrak service warnings more often now at 122k
Paint ripped off on roof at car wash in front of shark fin antenna
Sway bar links snapped (stupid plastic cover on them holds salt)
Highly Highly recommend Pedal Commander and set it to Sport -3 or -4 for a MUCH more enjoyable pedal feel. Really makes a difference. Has a user learning curve to it though so be aware.
K&N cold air intake Helps with a .5 - 1 MPG improvement and sounds really nice like no really it wakes the engine up for sound, slight throttle response improvement noted
I like to Seafoam the Intake every 10-20k tail pipe blows out a crap ton of smoke when I do and its some peace of mind. Im no expert but I believe that would help clean the valves
Diffs Fluid changed out once and transfer case fluid changed twice

I had a '09 Silverado with the 5.3 and recently gave my son the truck with 133,000 miles on it. Lifters started making noise at around 130,000 miles, so my son and I did a DOD delete on it before it self destructed. Parts were about $1000 and we did the work. The oil pressure issue also came up with the truck, so the pan was dropped and it was discovered that the pressure relief valve in the oil pan had failed. Oil and filter changes were done religiously over the life of the truck. The LS is basically a very good engine, but it has some serious problems.

Well I got you all beat, my chevy nightmare started in July of 2022 when my wife and I were almost killed in a bad truck crash involving a flat bed stalled out in the dead of night with no lights on I was in big Red as I affectionately referred to my 05 Tank of a Super Ford Expedition xlt wich by the way had over 360k miles on her withe the original engine still kicking butt! But then a few months later and alot of surgery and rehabilitation I was in need of a replacement vehicle for my totaled Ford with by the way was still running after the crash, and I went to Harbin Ford chevy on Scottsboro Alabama they sold me a used 2010 chevy tahoe lt 5.3 with 190k miles for little over 13k and I was unaware of limp mode ( cause who in the he'll comes up with a dilliberate programed sabotage malfunction like that over in my case to malfunctions that are not even vital to the main continued operation of the vehicle and have nerve to name it a fitting name but still Limp Mode) at least they were honest with the chosen name when they came up with the idea. But then two months after paying full amount 13k when i bought it , it shuts down in fast lane on my way to a work related meeting, and this is November not even two full months after I bought it I had replaced plugs plug wires sensors and I did a fresh oil change and filed my recipes. Then in January took it to Integrity Chevrolet in Chattanooga TN and a slimy criminal named Eric began the nightmare of a con by calling asking about the details of the issues with my truck as I had above average knowledge of the problem since I had tried several things to fix it come to find out he most likely was trying to come up with his fabricated list of repaire he and the service department manager Lance would scam me and my Mother who offered to put the bill on her credit card until I was back on my feat and working again and then I would pay her back. So he called back a little later and says we put it on diagnostic and that will be $160 to this point, and it needed a new harness and my oil I just changed was supposedly contaminated so that would need to be done and a couple other repairs that would fix it if I was willing to shell out 1400 dollars later that afternoon when the vehicle would be ready for pick up so I talked it over with the wife and decided to get it fixed. So I meet my dear Mother down at and I shit you not this is a certified dealership named themselves Integrity and again heads up Chattanooga Tennessee buyers be very aware, and we were thinking we were just picking it up after it was fixed. Well this Dude Eric heard me talking about the harness I had already visually inspected when I replaced the camshaft positioning sensor, and the Ac Delco filter withe part number still on it to match the receipt records I had kept on repair and work I had already executed on the vehicle pryer to this regrettable experience, and the blugs and spark plug wires I had just installed the week before this very day I even left the empty ac Delco plug wire box in the damn truck so they would at least have clue they weren't dealing with a mechanically ignorant customer and all though I told him I replaced the one malfunctioning parking sensor but haven't reset it yet he completely ignored me because every thing they listed with exception to the unlikely diagnostic they charged on the itemized list I had replaced and all documented receipts to prove it and since they no more changed my oil or put a new filter on or plugs or plug wires or camshaft harness or camshaft positioning sensor or parking sensor I was able to pull all parts with matching part numbers from my vehicle as proof in there very office of said service department manager Lance as I lay out my to giant insulated shopping bags of part match previously dated receipts and this is after 20 calls and more than 10 different trips to try and track Lance down and or anyone else of authority that would Un screw me after being literally robbed by a dealership named integrity and FYI you know what Lance did to rectify the crime against me.... he put $700 back on the card we had payed with just half after proving with his agnoligment that we had in fact been charged for work that none of what they changed us for had been done. Folks I can't make this shit up and to boot they gave us the vehicle exactly like we dropped it off except it was close wobbling were one of there service tards hit a parking concrete barrier marker and almost knocked the front driverside wheel of the upper control arm wich they attempted to rig up the issue after we pointed it out apon Puck up. I am very aware of the rip offs that can happen at some backwoods or chain cut throat repair facilities out there but I hadn't the slightest idea certified nationwide automobile brand name dealerships were just as cruked and after a little investigating in a couple chevy forums seems like this sort of shit might very well be very wide spread intentional practices for Gmc Chevrolet dealers all over . Wich now looking back it makes sense WY chevy make more malfunctioning products per capita than any other major American made car company and also makes more money as a business model intentionally designed to make money the most important part of there operation even at the heartless deceitful loss for there customers I nean victims! I have a 2015 Silverado LT 4X4 with the L83 5.3L. I bought it with 21K miles in '17. A lease return from a dealer. One of the first things I did (yeah, I know, warranty) was have the AFM removed via tune and I change the oil at no more than 4K miles, I use premium grade filters.
Truck is now 95K miles and running good. Between the AFM lifters and the torque converter issues these trucks have, I'm crossing my fingers. I also welded a drain plug bung into the transmission pan to do frequent (every other oil change) drain & fills which replaces about half the fluid.

This is great information that you guys shared. If I had know about GMC dirty little secrets I would had stuck with Ford. I purchased a 2021 GMC Sierra Denali last year. The vehicle currently have less than 16000 miles and is currently in GMC service department for lifter replacement in banks 4 and 5. During JAN'23 the service engine light came on and stayed on for a few days. I contacted the dealership which I was told that it would be over four weeks before they could diagnose the problem. After a few days the engine light returned to normal. I never took it in for the issue but did get an oil change and basic service. Recently, driving from Sam's Club the engine light came on again and begin to shake and decelerate. After traveling a few mile the vehicle return to normal. The vehicle is currently in the shop for lifter replacement in banks 4 and 5. I was told it would take over 5 days to replace the parts. I have a few questions. Could I force or recommend GMC to purchase the vehicle back? I have to travel from Georgia to West Texas, should I be concerned about making it there and back without issues after parts replacement? Should I recommend a full replace of other lifters that may cause problems? Should I get rid of the vehicle to avoid any future issues? I replace the factory exhaust with a borla exhaust system and added a cold air intake, would that cause the issue that I am currently having with my vehicle? Please provide recommendation and answers to questions. I can't afford to be stuck between Georgia and Texas and deal with maintenance concerns.

I bought a 21’ Chevy Silverado trailboss LT and have had the same exact issue you’ve stated. They replaced the lifters and push rods. 10k miles later it happened again. I took it in to be fixed but this time I called GM customer care to share my displeasure with my truck. The very next day the customer relation department called me and said that I qualify to have my truck bought back by gm or given a replacement. I had to send in the sales contract and bill of sale as well as the registration. Took about a week and got a call back from the repurchase department. They told me my case had been approved and offered me a brand new Chevy at the same msrp or a complete buyback including my down payment and tax’s/fees paid at signing. I took option two and they requested me to send a pic of my DL and 6 picks of the truck(front, rear, sides, front seats, rear seats). That was about a week ago, now I am waiting for my final offer email so I can cash out and go buy a new truck.
If I were you I’d say call right away and request a buyback. This is just gonna keep happening to you! Best of luck.

the 00 issue was blowing out spark plugs and then in 2004 they brought out the 5.4L, arguably the worst engine every produced. When they started production Ford KNEW it had 22 design flaws. The biggest was they designed an engine that relied on oil pressure to control everything then put in a sub-standard oil pump. Another issue was cheapo cam followers. $2.00 each but if they spent $3.00 each, there'd be no issues. What did ford do? Saved $8 per engine and put in the cheap ones. Another issue (besides soft bearings) was the nozzle that was supposed to squirt oil onto the cam instead squirted oil straight up onto the valve cover. The "updated" ones had this nozzle angled to direct the oil onto the cam.

Spent over $8k on a bumper to bumper warranty (up to 125k miles) when I bought my truck. The dealership has seen my truck every 3-6 months since 2016 (I bought it brand new in October 2016) and never mentioned anything about the lifters. For the past 2 years, it's had a 'hitch in its giddy-up' as it would jump (or jerk) when switching gear to gear while accelerating. The dealership drove it with me multiple times and said that it was "normal" for these engines. I do wonder if all of this is interrelated? For the camshaft damage - the dealership is saying $10,639.93 to replace the camshaft, but is recommending engine replacement, quoted at $13,620.91. I am planning to contact GM, but this is freaking ridiculous.

I've done all three stages of repair, changed the motor, pulled heads and changed lifters, and hammered on stuck lifters and unstuck them. the issue is NOT the spring, but the locking pins not engaging a groove. besides obvious cam damage, you get wear damage to this groove, causing repeat failures even if you change lifters. the groove is in the lifter bore which is part of the block. impossible to inspect without pulling the heads.
i agree the shortest path to not ever having to worry about this is a software delete via the OBD2 connector.

I just had this lifter failure happen to me on my 2015 GM Yukon with a 5.3. It does have the AFM (Active Fuel Management). Mine popped up as a check engine light (P0307) misfire on cylinder #7 at high RPM / high acceleration, the engine would start to run really rough for a few minutes and then go back to normal. Luckily I had just bought the truck from a dealership and they threw in a 90 day powertrain aftermarket warranty with my purchase. Took it to the Chevy dealership and they found one of the lifters was sitting lower than all the rest. They recommended changing all the lifters, and the camshaft showed no signs of damage. My friend had this exact problem with his 5.3L engine and he told me that the AFM (Active Fuel Management) is the main cause for this lifter failure and told me to get a Tuner or a module that disables the AFM immediately. If this has happened to someone I would recommend finding a lawyer and suing GM for the repairs. DON'T join a class action lawsuit, you will receive a check for like $12.

MDS lifter failure that wiped out the cam and bent a pushrod. For that one I completely removed MDS and tuned it out. For my C7 I just never put it in eco mode (manual Z06) so it never activates AFM/DFM. Eventually I will completely remove it from that engine as well.

Just a heads up. If you purchase the extended warranty “Platinum” , it is $0.00 deductible if taken to the dealer you purchased the GM/Chev. vehicle and warranty from. Also..A heads up on the cooler lines on 5.3L and 6.2L Trucks. GM is trying to avoid law suits on another defect if the vehicle gets past their fracturing warranty. GM claims there is a national BO on the cooler lines in U.S. however, I found the line and purchased it at a dealer in Canada who had several in stock. Figure that one out! My 2019 GM SERRIA AT4 6.2 had the cooler failure and after 4 weeks, the line was replaced, I was then told the engine had a major failure requiring a new engine factory replacement. And you guessed it. GM claims they have a National B.O. on the 6.2L engines. By the time I found the engine at a dealer in Texas, the dealer claimed it was able to get the engine assembly in Michigan which is still in transit to Indiana after three weeks….Sad…The Truck has only 80,000 miles. The only savior for me is purchasing the dealers Platinum Extended Warranty that covers everything under a zero deductible. Read the warranty fine print closely. Good Luck.

I do not own a newer Chevy but my 2007 Suburban has a 5.3 Flex with the AFM system. I purchased my Suburban used 5 years ago. At the end of my first year owning it I had multiple lifters go bad. One of them was broken in half when I took it out of the engine. I did the first replacement of the lifters at home. That repair lasted me six months and I ended up with a lifter on my drivers side sticking collapsed. Since I had a few spares I took the head off over night and replaced it with a new one. That last repair lasted me two years and I finally had the whole engine rebuilt. Within 5 days a new lifter was stuck in the collapsed position. I took it Back to the mechanic shop and they had the engine tore apart again and all new parts added again. A month after getting my Suburban back another lifter was collapsed. I took it back for the second time and the mechanic got it opened in two days. I picked it back up and it has not stopped. We would drive to Georgia or North Carolina and on I-95 or the Turnpike a lifter would stay collapsed and after two to four days of driving with the knocking it un-collapses and runs fine. This last trip was a month ago and I continue to drive it with the collapsed lifter. I don’t have money growing out of my trees to keep spending money on my Chevy! This is my fist Chevy vehicle and it may be my last! I was always a Ford guy and I have nor had any complaints about my 03 Excursion with the V-10. If it wasn’t for an accident I would still be driving it. New or used I am disappointed in my Suburban and all off these stories about the exact same issue in all of the 5.3 and 6.2 engine starting in 2007 up to now in 2023. It’s been 16 years and GM and Chevy keep selling these lemons! They know that these lifters are flawed but so that they can continue to make money on repairs or trade in sales they continue to sell unacceptable flawed engines.

The first year I had the truck I was lucky enough to have the cam shaft replaced and catalytic converter replaced under the warranty. I’ve now owned the truck for 3 years. It’s very well maintained and use it for light duty around my property and pulling hay trailer occasionally. It’s now on 110,000 miles and warranty has expired. The truck stalled out a few days ago driving home. There was no indication of any issues: no check engine light, no low oil level indicator, nothing. It was towed to the shop. I now have a replacement engine cost and other parts related to the DOD to the tune of $15,000! I am still paying the note of $700 a month on this worthless piece of crap. I owned Ford pickups prior to this and bought this GMC specifically so that I could get 300,000 out of a vehicle vs 100,000. I’m done with American crap, pickups and suvs especially. My 1997 Silverado has over 300,000 trouble free miles on it and I sold it to my nephew. He continues to drive it to this day. I bought a 2018 Silverado with a 6.2 L engine and I’m just keeping my fingers crossed. 🤞🏼😬

I have 2010 Silverado with a 5.3L engine with 6 speed auto. It has roughly 122,000 miles on it and I do do regular oil changes with a synthetic blend.
I run it in 'manual' mode in gear 5. This cancels the AFM completely. So far, so good!

good information im new with chevy trucks ear that you drive you truck in 5 gear, my question is do you drive it in 5 gear when you are in free way or just in city I will appreciate you answer

@luisuranga9212 Mostly in city. I do leave it in 5 when in slow commute traffic as this is when AFM/DFM is at its worst!

I leave mine in 5th all the time, taking no chances. And my 15 Denali runs great.

It's a pain though, every time you shut off the truck , got remember to go back to M5. And now you only have 5 speed. GM got to take care this, is not fair!

I owned a 13' 1500. I did oil changes to the book. 3k-4k miles. Outside of warranty, 110K had a failure. I did a RETRO, Drove the truck for another 70k miles. Sold it to a buddy and bout a 21' 6.2 10spd. I instantly bought the Pulsar LT. I'm not playing this game again. If the lifter can't collapse, it has a high percentage of never failing. GM has a issue with this. And it needs to be addressed! I'm a die hard GM fan. But, I would stand for these issues.

My 2020 Silverado w/ 6.2 has almost 20,000 miles and is getting one bank of lifters replaced as I type this. I used the Pulsar LT almost from day one to disable the DFM and still had the lifters fail.

Had my cylinder 7 lifter fail on a 2015 Silverado LT with 42000 miles. It cost ~ $3000 as my extended warranty was 3 months expired. That was in October of 2022. March 7th, 2023 (yesterday) while leaving the neighborhood, I felt a weird hesitation - then error code P0307 was thrown, same damn thing after less than 3000 miles. I baby that truck - change the oil religiously. Obviously GM has put out faulty lifters, its time they step up and do what is right. Now I have to decide whether to buy a remanufactured engine with DOD delete already on it, or add the DOD delete kit to the truck (the parts alone are around $2k). Not something I should have to be considering for a truck with 45000 miles on it.

This same thing just happened to my 2014 with 42k miles. I only drive it on the weekends as I have a company vehicle during the week. Some bs for sure!

I have a 2017 5.3 with 50,000 miles on it and when it starts going uphill, the motor starts bouncing. I have watched several of these videos and nobody takes the truck out and actually shows you the symptoms of a valve failure.

Im going through all the comments just for that reason. I want to know the symptoms. I have a 2020 Silverado 1500 with a 5.3 and 32k miles and nothing wrong and hopefully nothing will be but just wanted to know what to look out for if it ever did happen

Just bought a new 2023 Silverado and don't like how it feels when it accelerates. The last 3 I had didn't do this and I never had an issue with any of them. I am concerned. Soft acceleration isn't completely smooth.

    I did like your video, I went from a 2011 5.3 to a 2015 5.3, then a 2017 5.3, then a 2018 6.2 and now I have a 2018 6.2 all had
AFM, the 2011 went 190,000, the 2015 went 235000, 2017 went 190000 miles. my current 6.2 has 82000 miles. My latest truck is a 221 3.0L. I am the lucky one I guess. I still have the first failure to experience. however due to other experiences I have heard about, I did buy warranty with the 2018 6.2, this was used and had 50K miles when I bought the truck. My 221 is the first gen 3.0 in an AT4 trim. my other trucks were Denalis. I NEVER tow, I run 93 octane in the 6.2 if it matters.

My 2017 is having that problem right now..... A very costly fix.... Also it's crazy how the dealership doesn't have that engine in stock and it's on back order.
