  • After experiencing brick hands and poor openings with Evil Eye during the WCS 2024 Qualifiers, I've decided to return to playing Phantom Knights this season as my backup main deck. You might wonder why I don't use the Horus engine with PK. The reason that I prefer the pure PK build with a small Level 3 engine over pile PK is that, imo the pure PK board is still strong. I also prefer a lot of handtraps since my build features 13 handtraps. These handtraps allow me to disrupt my opponent's plays even in my turn 0, and if I wasn't able to setup my board due to Maxx C or an unfortunate interruption, I can still interrupt them. I also have better chances in matchups where Maxx C resolves, since my build allows me to draw more handtraps naturally.

4:54, I made a misplay by tunnel-visioning on riding Kashtira's grind game. Instead, I should have popped Baronne, as I could have easily beaten Unicorn in battle and improved my board. However, I mistakenly popped Unicorn. Despite this, I still won the match overall.

On 4:41 , why did Cir not get destroyed? Torn Scales is on the field which is not a burning abyss monster

Nice one. Having played Phantom Knights since 2021, I appreciate the use of pure PK over a mixture with Horus/Adventure. As much as I like it, I always feel the incompetency of pure PK in the relevant meta due to the lack of omni-negate :(.
It felt really good when we could end a board with F0, 4 neg Apoloussa, 2 fog blades, and then got wiped out with a single Raigeki

      Thank you so much 🤩
It's important to remember that not all top tier decks end on having an omni negate, so don't let that idea make you think Pure PK is weak.
That's why you use IP Masquerena and F0. A Link monster summoned using IP Masquerena as material can't be destroyed by card effects, and F0 is already indestructible, so a single Raigeki isn’t issue. Fog Blade is your main interruption, and the monster you summon is just a bonus. I also like to Pure PK because it’s less affected by DRNM and Droplet. Yes, the monster you have will get negated, but the beauty is that you have Fog Blade, and you will naturally draw more staples to support your board, unlike the Pile where you put all the resources into making a big board (you still also have Fog Blade but you get the idea, other resources spent just get negated by those cards)
Personally, I prefer running more hand traps rather than adding another engine or making it a pile. This approach lets me support my PK board with hand traps and staples, as I can draw them more often compared to pile PK that have a few staples. This makes my deck less reliant on creating a big board. I can still interrupt my opponent effectively with hand traps, even if my board is standard or if Maxx C resolves and I can’t out it. Hand traps in my hand can disrupt my opponent even without executing a combo, in Pile PK since you have more combo pieces card that will do combos, you will commit doing combo or just pass a turn. Pile PK is a great deck and I play it too, it can generate a strong board. However, Pure PK is also strong, even though it might not create as powerful a board as Pile PK. It excels in having more hand traps and staples.
Sorry for too many words and explanation, I just love explaining the strengths of Pure PK.😁

@xarzuzygo3700 Appreciate the long explanation 🤩
Well if the opp got nothing to get rid of Apollousa they are gonna get negated to draw the out. The best thing of pure PK is just to bring out Arc Rebellion Dragon for that beauty OTK. That feeling is just the best of all

@@LongPhan-im6kq As a Pk player since New challengers and Wing Raiders I can also agree that this is my favorite deck. Cool thing is with R-U-M Force you can also use Dark Rebellion XYZ and Dark Requiem XYZ dragon as the substitute for Appolusa with more materials. If your dealing with monsters that can not be targeted you can also use R-U-M Launch for Supreme King Dark Rebellion and take them out as well.

I play a variation of this deck, so as a fellow phantom player, I approve. Good game play, and would definitely like to see more of it.
