Really! I saw it coming the second he started talking about how clean it was. Is it bad that when I think overly clean car, I go right to murder?? Haha! Bc of the comments I kept waiting for an unpredictable twist. I hate to say it but it was too predictable. But the one LH posted recently, about a guy being paid to participate in a human hunt... THAT one was a big what the hell twist!

Your tones change so marvelously for different characters and the deep, gruff voice usually reserved for monsters works perfectly to remind us that not everything bright and beautiful is good.

Oh wow i didn't see the twist coming. This was a hell of a story. At first i thought the old man was a killer when he said a woman would fit nicely in the trunk but boy oh boy was i wrong. Great story great narration as always. Thank you for your amazing narration on this story you never dissapoint.

Marvelous story by A_Hawaiian_Shirt and fantastic narration by Lighthouse Horror as always. This was a really great one! Wonderful pacing as the gradual reveal developed. So well crafted it was not apparent where everything was leading until close to the very end! The voicing was impeccable and made the story so much more interesting and creepy in its excellence. Hard to say more without saying too much but this one is a must listen and one for the best of list! Thank you both very much for this gift of a story!!

Fantastic voice work. It does wonders just changing the sound of a voice. You never expect the raspy old man voice to be a loving father, nor the innocent straight shooter voice to be a monster. That is what sold the "I did not see that coming" angle.

This was a really good one. It looked like some old creep picking a car for god-knows-what, and then this turn... only, the protagonist is wrong about not going to hurt anyone ever again, his parents are going to hurt. Twice.

My aunts husband was a used car salesman. In 1999, we had a 1995 Ford Bronco, and he tried telling us we'd only get $5k as a trade-in. It was in immaculate condition. Needless to say, we didn't go to his lot and went elsewhere where we were given about $18k as a trade-in. I didn't trust him at all.
I'm really lucky I didn't check the comments while watching this. That twist was really something I did NOT see coming.

Um, what are the odds that I message you that I have to buy a new car and a half an hour later you post your daily narration and it's about a car dealership. And I feel like this has happened once or twice before. Creeeeepy.
Now, the important part, the story. I was not familiar with this one in the slightest. And I don't remember anything like it before, which is awesome.
For one thing, the family owned car dealership details were on point. They're, of course, very different than the large scale operations. And the story stayed true to that throughout.
The girl's dad. Oof. He was unsettling. He was perfect. I loved the little details like the kid upped the price far enough over blue book and the fact that the girl's dad caught it. Same goes for the mileage discrepancy.
I love that how her dad knew some of the stuff wasn't explained to the Nth degree. I know what my automatic thoughts were but the beauty of leaving it open to interpretation is it provides the listener/reader to come to their own unique conclusions, making it more immersive.
All in all, bravo to A_Hawaiian_Shirt and Stephen both.
I saw the ending coming as soon as the old man started asking about girls in the trunk. That said it was still a great story, I love the ones that focus on human characters and end with a hard hitting, not always legal type of justice being dished out.
Buicks, if its not being occupied by grandma or grandpa, its probably been doing something bad, or atleast mildly inappropriate.

This sounds like a crazy good pilot episode. Like a Sherlock Holmes who just talks the actual criminal into ending themselves.
This is a re-listen for me and although I know the ending it’s still just as good. The monster is so scary because of his ordinariness. He could have been one of the neighborhood kids you babysat or the kid you got to know because he was a friend of your son or maybe he dated your daughter. Ordinary can be so underrated. 😂
