I was so happy to see more Eggman in a main game again after five years. And Mike Pollock's performance is brilliant as always! 💜🥚
I enjoy his portrayal and dynamic with Sage but it pisses me off how much it's being misinterpreted by the fandom at large as his dynamic with Sage is intended to be shallow, self-centered, and self praising on his side, as Ian Flynn explained himself. He's only proud of and values her because of how she's loyal and efficient in serving and protecting him and taking pride in and praising her is praising himself as her creator, which he says so himself with in the Egg Memos.
The story is also by in no means implying that Eggman is going to become a better person at any point either, he stays consistently an evil bastard throughout the entire story. Your theories of otherwise are goddamn ridiculous and go blatantly against what happens on screen and in the memos and you're going to be disappointed when Eggman remains the evil bastard he's always been, while I'll be loving and celebrating it because it's not "boring" at all, you just fail to see the beauty and fun of him being the bad guy.
I love Frontiers Eggman for his real and true portrayal in the game. 💜 I hope you enjoy it and this video too!

Yea this doctor is strange to me, i mean if i think of Eggman father at best i see his way of treating metal sonic, here he seems way more nice than he use to be...
Eggman definitely isn’t a father figure. I’m sure he didn’t even believe that in his own dialogue based on the line delivery. It’s more so that sage was the first robot he made that was able to genuinely care for his safety. The whole ‘father’ thing is a technicality that he only considered when sage brought it up. So while yes this felt like a different eggman, this was a situation that he’s never had to deal with before.
This game wasn't one of Eggman's strongest showings, but not one of his really weak ones either. I'm definitely of the interpretation that he grew to care so much about Sage's safety and existence because it's a reciprocation of how she cares so much about his, the first creation of his to really feel so "human" like that, which feeds his ego in a way not even his other robots could. Gave him a small bit of development while also keeping true to his character by having it be largely a self-oobsessed, ego-based thing. I think the JP version conveys it better since it was re-write of Ian Flynn's script, lacking his weaknesses.
I'd say after 40 years, it's about time.
@@EggEmperor he hasn’t changed as a character, he still hates sonic and is still threatening and a douchebag when he feels like it. It’s just that for the first time ever he created something that truly cares for him back. He’s never had that before, unlike sonic who literally is saved by the same friends he’s been trying to help. He got a taste of what his arch nemesis gets to have all the time, and by losing it in the end while sonic gets the happy ending, wouldn’t that make him hate sonic even more?

The best detail has to be the fact that the buttons on Eggman's sweater actually had functions.
Actually we've seen it before in Sonic Lost World he Presses a button on his coat which activates a Jetpack

God I'm loving this take on Eggman he sounds so meancing and much like his old Sa1 self with a sprinkle of his Unleashed Egg Dragoon anger in him.

He gets it in the end but they just show how sonic and friends lose nothing then immediately after that eggman loses everything. That moment of hope as the aftermath of the explosion where he thinks he sees her only to realize she’s not coming back… broooooo…

Holy heck the voice line deliveries are way better than I expected!
I love the SA1, SA2, Heroes, STH, 06 and Unleashed references in this game, and the character developments appear to be better than non sense and stupid jokes since Colors. I think the plot this time has a closer atmosphere to Black Knight or Unleashed. I like Sonic's personality in Black Knight the most. This is the first time I feel that this Sonic is the one who has the best development in Black Knight

@@dark_nightwing_xl2797 No there would never be 06 reference, cuz the game ended with amnesia for everyone, there for it like never happened and sega now needs to find a way to introduce Silver the hedgehog to the game series since he was brought back to the IDW which is designed to be like the games.
small note that i love about the first cutscene is that you can hear more than brush hitting the eggpod, you can hear the wood of branches hit too. i love that touche.
At least Eggman took some anger management and doesn't have a burning hate for Sonic on this game.
Am I the only one noticing in the end cutscene where eggman brings back sage his iconic grin. He's up to something and sage is perfect for it

Hmm, now I wonder what metal would think about sage, they’re technically siblings. Ones data but can manifest, and the other is a robot imitation of sonic, who has a interesting personality.
The Robotic Family:
Dr. Eggman/ Dr. Ivo Robotnik: The brilliant smart genius who create robots and get his butt kicked by a blue teenage rodent.
Metal Sonic: the silent type who hates the blue rodent and tries to be the one true Sonic.
Orbot and Cubot: The funny robots who Eggman tolerates.
Sage: A compassionate and caring AI who worries about Eggman's well being
Mama Robotnik: Eggman's evil mother who normally beat some scene into him when he fails to control the universe.

Eggman and Sage are cute. I do wish Eggman got to do a little more in this game than just sit around in Cyberspace though. But I still like him here.

I always see it more as “this is the most competent thing I’ve ever made” even in the comics, he acted like metal was a son.

Though I do agree that he could easily be written out of this game which is a shame since the voice acting is perfect. I don’t mind him showing affection for a creation if it’s beyond competent. I mean for all Orbot and Cubot’s failures, he still keeps them around so it’s not like he goes around smashing everything that fails.

@@EggEmperor Oh no no, count me in as well. It feels as though they were trying too hard to have Sage as the next Shadow. But Eggman being so pointless to the story and her amounting to nothing more than a nuisance with some vaguely philosophical talks to Sonic&co., it just doesn't work. It feels overcorrecting 12 years of Eggman being a dumb goofy clown by trying too hard to make him sympathetic.
But he and Sage have no real agency in this game.

Sonic not fighting Eggman or Sage is one of the many flaws of this game.
Eggmans been the final boss for the last 10 years, This isn’t Mario where bowser is the only main antagonist sometimes even the villains need to sideline and that’s what made what people consider to be the best 3d sonic games SA1, SA2 and unleashed
@@Kazza2802 Pfft, even Sonic Frontiers failed to become the perfect Sonic game, as the score is 7 out of 10, which is mediocre, just like Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, and Sonic Unleashed. Eggman not being fought in this game is one of the many flaws after all.

@@Kazza2802 Bowser's not even been the only main antagonist of every game either, and when Sonic was created (to compete with Nintendo and Mario), Eggman was the villain/main boss for every single game straight. If Eggman doesn't have a key part to play in a Sonic game, it's not much of a Sonic game.

Especially considering this game is releasing right along side God of Mother Fucking War Ragnarok. A star example of series evolution.
