A small thing I noticed in the Eggmemos. When Eggman was talking about Maria he says "All that love for someone who was gone when I was RIGHT THERE!" this makes me think he might be been neglected by his family or something.

Bit of a correction on your comment about Amy. She decides she wants to share her love with the world, inspired from helping the koko. So she tells Sonic she intends to leave on a journey and help those in need, but sad as this journey would take her far away from him. Sonic fully supports her and states he cannot wait to see her after her journey is finished. In the end, Amy mentions bringing Cream and Sticks on her journey, maybe even taking the opportunity to make a road trip out of it.
When she mentioned sticks. I had to do a double take. Not that I don't mind sticks joining, but I always thought Sticks was Boom exclusive so that came out of left field for me.

Fun Fact about The End. After Super Sonic destroyed its host, it was actually going to self-destruct. The blast radius would have wiped out everyone along with Super Sonic and Sage. So Sage actually absorbed the impact to prevent that. I wish the story explained that more, it made it almost seem like she sacrificed herself out of nowhere for people who do not understand it. That would have made it feel more climatic. Also, the fact that The End self-destructing would have literally wiped out the universe in one go just shows how insanely powerful it is. I have never cared about a Sonic story so much before Sonic Frontiers because it was actually kinda dark and made you want to know more. Like, even in the beginning of the game, when Eggman was programming Sage to access the Ancient's Relics, those screams you hear are actually the screams of the Ancients being KILLED by The End. HOW IS THIS REAL!? I NEVER THOUGHT SONIC COULD GET AS DARK AS KIRBY GAMES COULD!!!
Another fun fact about The End: Its actual true form is unknown, as from person to person, The End's "true form" varies, altering their perception to appear as a visual representation of what they perceive death itself to look like. This is why it looks like a dark moon here, because Sonic views death as such

Not a great sonic game the end of the game felt like a copy and paste of the dark Gaia fight in sonic unleashed except you don’t even get to fight the final boss in the space in frontiers

In a way it’s downright poetic that the true final boss of this game, the first of a new era for Sonic is the very force that drove the ancients to Earth and in a way, kickstarted the various plots of the franchise. After all, The End is also the reason the Chaos Emeralds came with the Ancients. It’s like coming full circle and truly seeing how far Sonic has come. We’ve reached The End and now endless possibilities are on the horizon. I just hope Sega can continue reach for the stars.
With the release of frontiers I hope after update three and superstars they start to work on a sonic adventure 3. Itd be the perfect time to make a third game for an already perfect duo. Hopefully if they do. Sega doesn't mess up sonic adventure 3 and make it a complete flop.
If you listen to the final boss the end you realize that they did not kill it only defeated that incarnation . The End even said it destroyed countless worlds so I would like to know more about the end as well
With the creation of the chaos emeralds, it’s been implied by one of The End’s monologue in the true final boss stating the line “My captors burn their souls away to fuel their engines”, which implies that some of the ancients sacrificed their souls to create the chaos emeralds so that the rest of the other ancients could use the chaos emeralds to power their space ships to flee from their original home world that was about to be destroyed by The End
It doesn't make much sense as it seems that emeralds are older than these ancient ones and even the master emerald that wasn't created by them seems to have been there in Mobius for a long time.
@@FengTheSlayer They burned their souls away to use the titans they were piloting to seal The End into cyberspace. It was legit shown when the original Supreme pilot sacrificed themselves in the cutscenes when you were deactivating the towers, he even explained what he was doing.
The main thing I got from the Supreme was that it was bigger than the others. But since it was more of Sonic being very small, the supreme still felt like it was the same size as the other titans. If the camera was normal for that fight, then we would feel the actual behemoth of a size of the supreme
My theory for the origin of the Chaos Emeralds is that the Master Emerald was created by Chaos energy coming together like how stars are made. The energy is eventually too much for it to handle, so it splits off parts of itself that become the Chaos Emeralds, which fly out over the universe. Other primordial beings, like the Gaias and Solaris use the same Chaos Energy as their power, so they can use or manipulate the Chaos Emeralds.
Well this theory is very similar to the concept of the Sonic movie where the master emerald was the junction of the chaos emeralds. It's quite possible since they basically broke everything we knew about emeralds but there's the detail that emeralds are from space and only came to Mobius because of the master emerald so I wonder how the master emerald was already in mobius
When you realize sonic frontiers has the same lore reveals as splatoon 3 (I mean, they both feature ancient civilizations falling and leading to a new species emerging due to magical crystals and having the main character fighting against some kind of corruption by absorbing/consuming it in some way, all of this concluding in a big fight in a giant mech of some sort in space with friends that have been around since the earliest days of the series) (holy heck these games are the same)

Few things, it really started off with the comic, then knuckles being on ares island. How else was he able to run into sage if robotnik wasn’t in cyber space? Egg memo 11 explains how the ancients devolved into the chao.
The thing that bothers me the most when playing the game is trying to make connections between the backstory in Frontiers and Sonic Unleashed. Since the dawn of time, there were always two forces of Light and Dark with Light Gaia and Dark Gaia. However, there is the Gaia Colossus which is made up of the 7 Temples of Gaia which would hold the emeralds and even recharge them if their energy was drained. This was back from the very beginning so how did the Ancients get ahold of the Emeralds when the Temple of Gaia and Light Gaia rests on Earth? This point has bothered me a lot as I'm not sure on what a clear explanation could be.
Okay soo here is the thing By the end of Sonic Unleashed, its been showned that Chip/Light Gaia CAN fix the Planet by himself, its just the Chaos Emerald are FAR surperior in its strength over him And we know Ancients predate every other Civilization and even other Aliens like Black Arms and Babylonians, soo it totally make sense that Ancients arrived on Sonic's Homeworld after the last Gaia fight or somewhere near the next fight, and with how after The End fight some groups traveled away from Starfall to find the Master Emerald it wont be weird that Ancients instead of finding Master Emerald first found Light Gaia instead and help him contain Dark Gaia easier As to what happen during the founding of Master Emerald? And why Chao and to some extent Chaos the Master Emerald mutated Chao share the same DNA.... thats left to be a mystery
@@crapcase3985 Agreed. In one of the Tails podcasts a few months ago, they confirmed that the major continents maintain humans while the islands are inhabited by anthropomorphic animals and Flickies. Which makes sense now, but where were the humans during Sonic Forces? Eggman took over the world, so what happened with G.U.N.? Could be headcanon that his forces overpowered theirs, but like some humans would've had to form some kind of resistance like the anthro characters.

@@crapcase3985 My theory before Frontiers was that every game up to 06 was canon to Sonic until Solaris was erased from existence, to which the timeline split. But I knew games like Secret Rings and Black Knight were canon to each other and Colors, Generations, Lost World, and Forces were canon to each other. At least the Tails video canonized all the games together, but it still leaves some plot holes. Like the one mentioned with Light and Dark Gaia and the Ancients. Hopefully that can be explained in a future game.
For the Chao and Ancient relation, I assumed the Ancients just naturally evolved into Chao, maybe due to the Master Emeralds radiation or perhaps because they're on a new planet, evolved to adapt to the alien environment. For how Chaos was made, since the Chaos Emeralds have time powers, I assume the Master Emerald does to, so when the Chaos Chao touched the Emeralds, I think it partially de-evolved him to something in between an Ancient and Chao.
I think the Ancients took the young or elderly then reverted or evolve into chao just to survive 'The End'. Also the master emeralds creations along with rest of the emeralds may have been just the result of the Big Bang of the Sonic Universe sorta like the infinity stones in Marvel. For Chaos the emeralds probably just took the ancients image and created Chaos to look like them as an avatar of "sorts" to guard the emeralds and master emerald.
Another big hint that the chao and koko are connected was the chao wanting the koko mask and then wearing it. Maybe it recognized it as it's own koko back when it was still an Ancient. I also thought that maybe the Ancients' metamorphosis into the chao might have had something to do with the emergence of Dark and Light Gaia. Maybe they were the ones who taught Chip how to use chaos energy to help empower him.
I heard the ancients use charms that look like koco, maybe some ancients stay on the island to watch the islands an merge themselves with their charms an might be mistaken from spirits within the charms and created the elders and hermits to help them.
Super excited for more lore coming. The lore of Sonic games were pretty much ignored the past 10 years. Now, the lore went from non-existent to VERY interesting. Cant wait to learn more!

What about on the Island Knuckles was on, there was a shrine with what looked like a broken Red Master Emerald? Right after the cutscene when Knuckles talks about how the design of the place reminds him of his island, both him and Sonic look into the shrine and see a broken crystal there. If you go in and look at it, it is very clearly set up like the shrine of the Master Emerald and the crystal broken looks like it would be the same size and shape of the Master Emerald, but it's Red. Does this imply that there might have been a full set of Master Emeralds to match the Chaos?
Well isn't that how hypersonic is made? In sonic 3 (and knuckles) you can find a shrine with oversized chaos emeralds (though not as big as the master emerald)

Eggman was jealous of his cousin, Maria. She was always more loved then him. Also I think Sage, being as smart as she is, kept a memory back up in the server on the islands. The Ancients are likely inside it too so they MIGHT return one day. Also Knuckles is gonna take some form of vacation as suggested by Sonic.

I can’t hear ancient without thinking of Kirby lore. The cyber space stages also reminds me of the dimensional rift stages in Kirby returns to dreamland.
And to add to this, The End reminds me of Void Termina.... Or, as they're called in Japanese, Ende Nil.... The lore for this game was oddly Kirby-like. And I'm SO here for it!

Here's what I believe happened with the ancients, after escaping the Starfall Islands, they were searching for the source that drew them to the planet in the first place, the Master Emerald, finding its location on Angel Island, using a final bit of their technology, they made another portal that connects between Angel Island and the Starfall Islands (the one Knuckles used) to get all surviving ancients safely into Angel Island, there, they colonized on Angel Island, creating the altar and other locations within the island like Sky Sanctuary, after centuries of colonizing in this new environment, their bodies gradually started to change with generations to adapt to their current location, turning into the Chao we know today, I am still not certain when the echidnas localized in Angel Island and what caused the Master Emerald to partially turn Chaos back to their origin, but when Chaos was formed, he definitely learned of the importance of the altar, thus becoming the guardian on the Master and Chaos Emeralds, as well as his fellow Chao, and it even explains why Chaos became angry ang resented the planet after the echidna invasion, he learned of the ancients past, and how they were almost wiped out, fearing it happening again to the Chao, he was overcome with negative emotions, absorbing the negative energy of the Chaos Emeralds to turn into Perfect Chaos, and the story is known from here. Also seeing how the ending of the game shows potential growth on Tails, Knuckles and Amy, I'd love to see games where they're the main character and we get to explore their character more, especially with Knuckles on this one because we could learn more about the echidna tribe and how they got to Angel Island.
I was under the impression that Chaos was some primordial form of The Ancients that probably revolted in some way, whereas the Ancients of Chaos's time created the Master Emerald to seal it away and cast it to space, where it just so happened to land on Earth.
14:21 I think the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald were created by Light Gaia aka Chip on Earth as the gaia temples are like charging stations for the Chaos Emeralds but the Chaos Emeralds were sent to the ancients home world named Mobius to save the Chaos Emeralds from the Phantom Ruby created by Dark Gaia. Mobius is the home of the Ancients and of course the Mobians.
Very unlikely as emeralds technically contain a power that far surpasses light gaia and the master emerald is even worse a source of infinite power that only one exists in all realities
It might be too late for you to hear my comment but I’d love to see a video theorizing the potential connection between the star fall islands and the phantom ruby! I mean it can’t be a coincidence that in the cutscenes the enemies appear in a similar effect to the phantom ruby. Hope someone posts a theory on that someday.
if you don't know, the phantom ruby was originally created in the starfall islands, the phantom ruby is also related to the ancients a lot, now the phantom ruby creators are unknown but my theory might guess who created the ruby, after the end destroyed the ancients home planet, they went to mobius, they found the starfall islands so they lived there but they wanted to prepare for a war between them and the end, so they created those ancient robots and stuff and they used cyberspace to keep their memories, it is said cyberspace can create a world based on the user's memories and the phantom ruby can also use the enemies's memories against them just like how infinire created the older villains sonic and his friends faught, the phantom ruby powers and cyber energy are not only similar in the color and their glitchy aura but in their abilities as well, it also doesn't make sense that the titans are powered by one purple chaos emerald while they can stand a chance against super sonic and their energy is cyber energy! it means that when the ancients were preparing everything they created the phantom ruby cause the chaos emeralds weren't enough to power everything, they created the ruby to create cyberspace and power their weapons with cyber energy, also the reason why the phantom ruby had more power since it can corrupt and warp reality while cyber energy only corrupted the users is I think it's similar to the emeralds, the emeralds have negative and positive energy, same thing with the ruby it has negative energy as cyber energy and positive energy as phantom energy.

Eggman didn’t jump into cyberspace to escape the robots Sage pulled him in to protect his (just in cace TheEnd broke free). She even says so later in the game. He was trying to remove the device because he thought it was malfunctioning and that’s when Sage pulled him in. Also the robots were under Sages control going by Eggmans response and how the robots didn’t attempt to attack.
Now that we got the 3rd update, and it has a alternate ending. I’m a little confused. Is this a alternate timeline. Or is this just some kind dream someone dreamt up, and the 3rd update is the true ending. We need a update theory about why there is two different stories

I feel like a cool theory bouncing off the fact that they never said the Ancients made the emeralds is that the chaos emeralds actually did originate from earth. After some type of huge battle or something crazy like that, the emeralds were scattered across the universe. Since we saw the Ancients have ships and we can assume they traveled throughout space, we can then assume that they could have possibly found them at some point to be used for what they needed them for. I think this is a potential theory that could hold up because it still respects Unleashed’s foundation of the emeralds lore with the Gaia temples being made specifically for the emeralds to bring the planet back together if a fight between Light and Dark Gaia occurs.

They said The End is whatever we perceive the end of the world to be. The Moon being an apocalyptic end to humanity so we dont really know what Sage and Sonic are seeing. Also Sage was using Supremes gun and her color swapping as the Light and Dark shots. And I like to believe the Golden Burst (I'm calling that specially gold attack) is Sonics attack. And personally I like to believe that Earths atmosphere is what changed the ancients into Chao m.

Actually, Amy stated that her plan was to go off on her own. Help others in need (emphasis on “showing love to the world”). And if you actually paid attention to Amy…. She hasn’t been that flirty with Sonic for YEARS now (playful banter isn’t the same as what she used to do). Basically since Generations and Lost World both passed. Her obsession stage is basically long gone now.
I’m surprised no one‘s talking about how sonic sage which appears as an energy construct Who helps the main group defeat the villain is similar to that of sage of battle force five a sentient energy construct who also helped the main team defeat the villains. Sage even at the end of the game becomes blue and she was red showing both red and blue sentient!
If the ancients found the emeralds in their home world, I’d like to assume there could be more emeralds. Master Emerald would make it the 8th emerald. It makes you wonder.

My theory about the chaos emeralds could be the ancients mined ore on the Starfall islands and later shaped the emeralds to be small enough for easy transportation and some of the ancients sacrificed themselves to give the emeralds there power.
Thank you for explaining the plot. It was so confusing for me the first go around. I do wish there was more substance to the story in the middle part, more clarity and also more lightheartedness. I felt like it was too dark. But all in all, it was actually a solid plot line. Just the execution was a little messy

Hold up, you're supposed to do the light/dark energy blast "hacking" mini game during the final fight?? What?? I didn't get that, Super Sonic and Sage flew into space, The End's title card showed up in front of its moon-form, then sage just yeeted Sonic into The End while 3 short quick-time events happened. I was really disappointed that that was the extent of the final form of the final boss, but I guess there really was supposed to be more to it. I wonder what happened. Anyway, great video! Good breakdown of the plot. I just finished the game last night and it was a lot of fun! Lots of questions still remain, but it looks like with the DLC Sonic Team is planning for next year that might answer a bunch of them!
In my school vr game the end is in the game as the reincarnated form known as code Maxwell who was working behind the curtains on manipulating the g universe a massive gundam database and manipulate them to kill the els and it was finally discovered when reborn goalius had took out the gundam zambatus code Maxwell was actually analysing goalius and tried to make a titan version of goalius and well goalius stopped it by crushing the head and smashed the cockpit then heads to the earth federation and during which code Maxwell panicked and then realised that making the titan would end up failing and he continued and then he started to continue when goalius is fighting the entire gatheroad squad and ultimately goalius entered the hanger and saw it being constructed at 90% complete and then has a fight against gundam theosakae a ai driven mobile armour with the hint of gundam but reborn goalius took it out with the help of the GM gatheroad and gundam latrieas mk 2 but it's too late the titan was completed and in a unexpected turn of events the titan crushed the gundam theosakae killing code Maxwell/the end and the titan heads to ultra space to kill the ultra beasts and once defeated the titan it's revealed that the titan was controlled by sage who was looking far worse to wear ( in a codex entery it sounded like she was cyber raped )
I felt like The End was a bit lacking in many ways. It would've been nicer if there was more conclusion to the whole flashbacks we had seen but other than that it wasn't a bad ending!

Also, didn’t you pay attention to anything Amy said throughout this Game, she wanted to go spread love around the World (I guess) and at the end she said she was going on a Trip with Cream and Sticks, so i guess she will be going on a Journey of her own, similar to Tails.
Ironic enough i think one of the eggman audio files mentions that at some point their DNA started too degrade, maybe causing them to mutate and become what we know as the chaos
I have a feeling the END will return since we still have yet to learn stuff about it. Where did it come from? Who or what made it? Are there others like it out there? Why does it go around destroying planets? So many questions surrounding it that we need to get answers to in a new game
I don't think the ancients are the same species are chaos. Because chaos was a mutated chao. My guess is since chaos was mutated by the master emeralds and chaos emeralds. The ancients underwent similar mutations due to generations of exposure
Theory: The Phantom Ruby is a small fragment of The End. Reasoning for the Phantom Ruby being the closest contender to an incarnation of the End, or at least a fragment of its true power: "... You have fought machines and *gods*. They were mighty. They were finite. I am *Infinite*. I am nothing...") (also the slight shifting of a purple and red hue of the planetoid itself puts into question what it could be hiding underneath its surface) Another thing I want to add is that we know that the Phantom Ruby has its own sentience, its own consciousness. The being known as The End seems to be more of an evolution of that consciousness, for example, its ability to communicate with beings in a linguistic manner rather than being mute. Also, The End's reality distortions in the real world in EVERY single cutscene that it makes an appearance in also bears resemblance to the effects of the Phantom Ruby when it is being used. The point I'm trying to make with this in-depth explanation is that I strongly think that the Phantom Ruby has to be a small fragment from The End. Now the question becomes: how did it end up on Angel Island? Well, remember the battle that led to the sealing away of the End in Supreme? It wouldn't be too hard to imagine in all of that clamor, a fragment was torn off of the End, and it was sent hurtling towards Earth/Mobius, only to crash-land onto Angel Island.
Now the question becomes: what did it want with the Chaos Emeralds? Perhaps it was seeking to merge with the Emeralds to make itself an even greater threat? Who knows? We know that the Phantom Ruby has some control over the Chaos Emeralds as seen in the true ending of Mania, so why didn’t it do it then? I think it didn’t do it then was because; again, it was a fragment of The End, and very much so incomplete without their greater portion. I don’t think it would’ve been able to keep itself together if it had decided to merge the Emeralds with itself then and there. It would probably take the ENTIRETY of The End (or at least a bigger chunk of it) to successfully merge the Emeralds with itself.
Now, if all that is true for the connection between The End, and the Phantom Ruby, then we may have a slight catastrophe in the wings for future Sonic games. With the destruction of The End, all of its fragments rained down upon Earth/Mobius, and if I’m right with the correlation, then we’re up for a serious catastrophe in the coming games...
My greatest fear is that we’re going to get more people (like, but unlike Infinite) who use the Ruby’s power, only for it to consume them in the end. (Side note: perhaps with all of these fragments now on Earth/Mobius, maybe the Phantom Ruby will want to merge with its other fragments to become bigger and stronger; to rebuild The End.)

(Also, did you not see the story behind Mania Plus? It totally survived and it took Classic Sonic back to his home dimension to “redo” the entire events of Mania only for it THEN to finally be destroyed.
Were you playing on normal or easy mode? I also thought it glitched for me but no, you can only fight the final boss in hard mode. If you're on normal or easy it skips the boss and goes straight to the quick time events
13:09 That’s not what happens The reason why the ancients turned into Chao is because according to Eggman’s memos their DNA corroded to a point where they turned into a completely different species, hence the “de-evolution” into Chao. Eggman mentioned how some kind of “radiation” effected them for eons. This is likely the master emerald’s and the ancients over generations were turned into chao from it. How Chaos came to be is is unkown, but we do know he was a chao originally, so he probably had his ancient DNA somehow resurface. Also, it’s extremely likely The End wasn’t wiped out alongside Sage at the end there. The End mentions how no matter what form it takes it will always consume, and how sonic “strikes at this incarnation with all his might, yet it changes nothing” The End seems to be an Undefeatable enemy at the moment.
I'm honestly thankful that we might be able to see The End again because we honestly know next to nothing about it right now; no known origins, no known motivations, possible connections to other villains that have very little information but still might be true.
Here’s how i beat the end. I was on hard and died like 6 times then i got it to half health and switched to easy mode and then it just went to the cutscene of the quick time event
I finished this yesterday, and right in time for the update tomorrow... Honestly I wish some aspects were explained a tad better, for instance who was controlling who, and to be honest that Supreme fight was really underwhelming... Wyvern was by far the best fight of the 4... Also with Knuckles going back to the Master Emerald, Tails going on his solo adventure, i'd like to clarify that Amy is going with Cream and Sticks for afternoon tea... which of all the references to previous games/ventures, I wondered if they'd make a funny quip at Boom, but no, ALTHOUGH Amy name-dropped Sticks and I was shook! Given the different knuckles/sonic in that universe im wondering if they're ignoring its canon but making a new Sticks canon to these games? Granted I might have been the only person to enjoy Boom and the show...
Personally I think that the chaos emeralds and the master emerald are counterparts. So 1 master emerald equals up to the power of the 7 chaos emeralds. And when the master emerald applys there power to the chaos emeralds they turn into super emeralds. The chaos world that had the chaos emeralds that was there version of the master emerald and earths version was the master emerald
WARNING: this is a very long comment :| I wrote this comment on a video of rhea Island's music and I made a slight rewrite in a string of consciousness kind of way. First of all, rhea island is not given a space on the thing where you see how much you explored of each of the islands. Treating it the same as the first three islands is just making it seem like there is more to the game than there actually is. One story thing I think I would change is make it so we see that supreme is actually the true form of the end and the ancients modeled giganto, wyvern and knight after it to fight against it. That detail will matter in a second, anyway… While sonic is activating the towers, Sage tells sonic that the end is manipulating him to his end by running him ragged waving his friends in his face and giving him his cyber corruption. so once sonic gets fully corrupted, amy, knuckles, and tails come back to realize that the end is ready to destroy them all since sonic is neutralized. The end wasn't lying when they said they would bring back sonic's friends, but they didn't specify the context. The end just wanted to watch his friends see their beloved sonic stuck in between dimensions to make them lose hope. Tails, Amy, and Knuckles realize that only super sonic could have a chance at fighting back against the end, so they all go and collect the chaos emeralds (sage is able to help them all get the emeralds without the need for vault keys) and they bring sonic back with the chaos emeralds (calling back to 06 in the process) and Sonic fights supreme with im here playing but without lyrics. Then once the first phase is completed Sage realizes she would need to help super sonic fight supreme in space now and then I’m here plays with lyrics. The whole time supreme/the end is using moves similar to giganto , wyvern, and knight. Finally, to stop the end from firing a laser to destroy earth, sage sacrifices herself like in the game (possibly remembering how shadow turned out and deciding to take a gamble and hope she could come back) and super sonic falls back to the islands where his friends are and they celebrate and sonic mourns sage before remembering what happened to shadow and is like “I think we will see her again soon someday” and then the credits roll. We still see the same cutscene with eggman showing that sage was saved. After that, you can explore ouranos island as postgame content. It is explained by sonic coming back to the islands just because he hasn’t finished exploring all of them yet. On ouranos island you cannot collect chaos emeralds anymore, but now the portals let you relive memories and refight the titans whenever you want. Let’s just say since sonic just wants to finish exploring the starfall islands, it only now allows you to travel back to the other islands as well because if you did that before it didn’t make any sense. After you get to the post game and you can travel back to Kronos island, rhea island is added to your map on Kronos island, and you can go back there for some hard to trigger dialogue having sonic come to conclusions about the lore and story. Some other lore reveals and clarifications also happen on ouranos Island, completely from sonic figuring things out himself and some cyberspace shenanigans or something, I just don't want sage to explain everything herself. A lore details I would add are showing that the master emerald and the chaos emeralds came from a magical meteor that got split apart by the end to keep a civilization from having a chance at defeating it, but seven small pieces of it formed into the chaos emeralds that the ancients used to escape the end, and a bigger chunk formed into the master emerald (why did that Knuckles animation have to tease a reveal of where the master emerald came from if we never got that in the game) so the master emerald landed on an island and once the ancients got to it, they found a way to make it float so the island could be less vulnerable to attackers. I also want to add that when the ancients escaped to angel island, most left behind their kokos on the starfall islands so in the slim chance that anything survives, their koko can keep their individual memories. Some ancients keep their koko with them on angel island, and those who do are not affected by the master emerald's weird radiation it gives off that turned the ancients without thier koko into various chao that we see on angel island in the prolouge. I think eventually the ancients that kept their koko still became less tall and developed bigger eyes to adapt to the earth's gravity and environment. They eventually don't need thier koko to withstand the master emerald anymore, so they just turn them into masks, one of them being found by the nights chao in the prolouge. One of the ancients that gave up their kokos is chaos, the one from sonic adventure. I'm also headcannoning that that guy could essentially just be a water monster from being around the master emerald for so long. Now, this part goes into massive theory territory but I wanted to share it here: I think that sonic characters, the animal people that are often the playable characters(I'll just call them mobians) I think these guys came from the ancients too. I mean, from what I have built up, the ancients that became like Chaos have big eyes, lanky limbs, large heads, and big hands and feet. Maybe the Chaos-like ancients then interacted with ancestors of many animal species, eventually leading some animals to become the mobians we see in the sonic version of earth. Humans and non-sentient animals could have just evolved separately from them. This explains why we can see non-sentient seagulls flying by sonic and why we can just fish up a squid and have it not look like a sonic character. Maybe the mobians are just called hedgehogs, foxes, and echidnas because of how they look. Maybe the ancients being around the master emerald gave them magical powers, leading to the mobians having various superpowers such as rolling into a ball, long tails, and the ability to use the chaos emeralds efficiently. Maybe the ancients having appendages on the back of their heads carried into what most of the hedgehog characters look like. anyway I hoped you liked my overly long rewrite and headcannon dump, let me know what you think in the replies

The Koco itself were nothing more than totems. As for Chaos, due to his origin being mutated Chao, it is likely that his form is not completely like the Ancient, but rather something inbetween
You got the sage and Maria part kinda wrong. The thing he was jealous of Maria and never really knew her much just that people talked really highly about her. So later on when sage became more of her own character, personality etc. He started to wonder if sage was anything like her.
My version: Sonic has to kill 3 ancestors that were controlled by Sage in order to free his friends because a black moon tells him. After that Sonic gets corrupted and his friends makes a satanic ritual to bring him back to life, and so, now he has to collect the 7 chaos emeralds again to be able to punch the moon out of a robot with a gun and so, the same robot controlled again by Sage trows Sonic to the moon like Giganto did to him at the beginning of the game.
I’m not really sure if you could call it a theory, as there’s not really any evidence for it. But what if in the sonic universe each planet has its own version of the chaos emeralds, like it would vary in size and numbers, but every planet in sonic’s world has some sort of chaos emerald. For example there could be one planet that has only two larger chaos emeralds, and maybe on another planet there’s just lots of smaller chaos emeralds that litter the planet and are abundant. And the chaos emeralds are some kind of natural that is found with every planet, sort of made by the universe and not civilisations. Sonic Frontiers actually confirms Sonic Unleashed as canon so my question is, how has the Gaia cycle existed maybe even before the Chaos Emeralds were on Earth? Also Egg memo 11 says that the Ancients were mutated into the Chaos by radiation so couldn't the Chao just be the mutated forms of the Koco?

I don’t know if it’s deliberate but Chaos in SA always had some kind of headpiece that connected his body like a spine. Can the CoCo or dud they once have a body like that? They seem to evolve ir relate to the Chao, was Chaos the one who didn’t evolve and thus was able to be manipulated like the Titans were from the Coco? It feels like a deliberate call back, you can’t look at the Coco water form and not think I’ve seen that before. Infact there are tons of SA callbacks and I wonder if it’s a nice wink, or a prelude to some kind of SA Sequel. Really feels like if they go off this story or background in this that they could really Segway into some kind of SA3 where we call back to the Master Emerald and tye cultures Chao and Echinda and Chaos.

Bit of a correction on your comment about Amy. She decides she wants to share her love with the world, inspired from helping the koko. So she tells Sonic she intends to leave on a journey and help those in need, but sad as this journey would take her far away from him. Sonic fully supports her and states he cannot wait to see her after her journey is finished. In the end, Amy mentions bringing Cream and Sticks on her journey, maybe even taking the opportunity to make a road trip out of it.
When she mentioned sticks. I had to do a double take. Not that I don't mind sticks joining, but I always thought Sticks was Boom exclusive so that came out of left field for me.

Fun Fact about The End. After Super Sonic destroyed its host, it was actually going to self-destruct. The blast radius would have wiped out everyone along with Super Sonic and Sage. So Sage actually absorbed the impact to prevent that. I wish the story explained that more, it made it almost seem like she sacrificed herself out of nowhere for people who do not understand it. That would have made it feel more climatic. Also, the fact that The End self-destructing would have literally wiped out the universe in one go just shows how insanely powerful it is. I have never cared about a Sonic story so much before Sonic Frontiers because it was actually kinda dark and made you want to know more. Like, even in the beginning of the game, when Eggman was programming Sage to access the Ancient's Relics, those screams you hear are actually the screams of the Ancients being KILLED by The End. HOW IS THIS REAL!? I NEVER THOUGHT SONIC COULD GET AS DARK AS KIRBY GAMES COULD!!!
Another fun fact about The End: Its actual true form is unknown, as from person to person, The End's "true form" varies, altering their perception to appear as a visual representation of what they perceive death itself to look like. In a way it’s downright poetic that the true final boss of this game, the first of a new era for Sonic is the very force that drove the ancients to Earth and in a way, kickstarted the various plots of the franchise. After all, The End is also the reason the Chaos Emeralds came with the Ancients. It’s like coming full circle and truly seeing how far Sonic has come. We’ve reached The End and now endless possibilities are on the horizon. I just hope Sega can continue reach for the stars.
With the release of frontiers I hope after update three and superstars they start to work on a sonic adventure 3. Itd be the perfect time to make a third game for an already perfect duo. Hopefully if they do. Sega doesn't mess up sonic adventure 3 and make it a complete flop.
If you listen to the final boss the end you realize that they did not kill it only defeated that incarnation . The End even said it destroyed countless worlds so I would like to know more about the end as well
With the creation of the chaos emeralds, it’s been implied by one of The End’s monologue in the true final boss stating the line “My captors burn their souls away to fuel their engines”, which implies that some of the ancients sacrificed their souls to create the chaos emeralds so that the rest of the other ancients could use the chaos emeralds to power their space ships to flee from their original home world that was about to be destroyed by The End
It doesn't make much sense as it seems that emeralds are older than these ancient ones and even the master emerald that wasn't created by them seems to have been there in Mobius for a long time.

The main thing I got from the Supreme was that it was bigger than the others. But since it was more of Sonic being very small, the supreme still felt like it was the same size as the other titans. My theory for the origin of the Chaos Emeralds is that the Master Emerald was created by Chaos energy coming together like how stars are made. The energy is eventually too much for it to handle, so it splits off parts of itself that become the Chaos Emeralds, which fly out over the universe. Other primordial beings, like the Gaias and Solaris use the same Chaos Energy as their power, so they can use or manipulate the Chaos Emeralds.
Well this theory is very similar to the concept of the Sonic movie where the master emerald was the junction of the chaos emeralds.
It's quite possible since they basically broke everything we knew about emeralds but there's the detail that emeralds are from space and only came to Mobius because of the master emerald so I wonder how the master emerald was already in mobius

The thing that bothers me the most when playing the game is trying to make connections between the backstory in Frontiers and Sonic Unleashed. Since the dawn of time, there were always two forces of Light and Dark with Light Gaia and Dark Gaia. However, there is the Gaia Colossus which is made up of the 7 Temples of Gaia which would hold the emeralds and even recharge them if their energy was drained. This was back from the very beginning so how did the Ancients get ahold of the Emeralds when the Temple of Gaia and Light Gaia rests on Earth? This point has bothered me a lot as I'm not sure on what a clear explanation could be.

By the end of Sonic Unleashed, its been showned that Chip/Light Gaia CAN fix the Planet by himself, its just the Chaos Emerald are FAR surperior in its strength over him

@@crapcase3985 Agreed. In one of the Tails podcasts a few months ago, they confirmed that the major continents maintain humans while the islands are inhabited by anthropomorphic animals and Flickies. Which makes sense now, but where were the humans during Sonic Forces? Eggman took over the world, so what happened with G.U.N.? Could be headcanon that his forces overpowered theirs, but like some humans would've had to form some kind of resistance like the anthro characters.

@@crapcase3985 My theory before Frontiers was that every game up to 06 was canon to Sonic until Solaris was erased from existence, to which the timeline split. But I knew games like Secret Rings and Black Knight were canon to each other and Colors, Generations, Lost World, and Forces were canon to each other.
At least the Tails video canonized all the games together, but it still leaves some plot holes. Like the one mentioned with Light and Dark Gaia and the Ancients. Hopefully that can be explained in a future game.
For the Chao and Ancient relation, I assumed the Ancients just naturally evolved into Chao, maybe due to the Master Emeralds radiation or perhaps because they're on a new planet, evolved to adapt to the alien environment.
For how Chaos was made, since the Chaos Emeralds have time powers, I assume the Master Emerald does to, so when the Chaos Chao touched the Emeralds, I think it partially de-evolved him to something in between an Ancient and Chao.
I think the Ancients took the young or elderly then reverted or evolve into chao just to survive 'The End'. Also the master emeralds creations along with rest of the emeralds may have been just the result of the Big Bang of the Sonic Universe sorta like the infinity stones in Marvel.
For Chaos the emeralds probably just took the ancients image and created Chaos to look like them as an avatar of "sorts" to guard the emeralds and master emerald.
Another big hint that the chao and koko are connected was the chao wanting the koko mask and then wearing it. Maybe it recognized it as it's own koko back when it was still an Ancient. I also thought that maybe the Ancients' metamorphosis into the chao might have had something to do with the emergence of Dark and Light Gaia. Maybe they were the ones who taught Chip how to use chaos energy to help empower him.
I heard the ancients use charms that look like koco, maybe some ancients stay on the island to watch the islands an merge themselves with their charms an might be mistaken from spirits within the charms and created the elders and hermits to help them.

What about on the Island Knuckles was on, there was a shrine with what looked like a broken Red Master Emerald? Right after the cutscene when Knuckles talks about how the design of the place reminds him of his island, both him and Sonic look into the shrine and see a broken crystal there. If you go in and look at it, it is very clearly set up like the shrine of the Master Emerald and the crystal broken looks like it would be the same size and shape of the Master Emerald, but it's Red. Does this imply that there might have been a full set of Master Emeralds to match the Chaos?

@@Kirbygaming12 Also, the final boss reminded me of Star Dream and the Access Ark. They both involve piloting a craft in outer space while charging up a powerful attack to harm a spherical enemy.
Here's what I believe happened with the ancients, after escaping the Starfall Islands, they were searching for the source that drew them to the planet in the first place, the Master Emerald, finding its location on Angel Island, using a final bit of their technology, they made another portal that connects between Angel Island and the Starfall Islands (the one Knuckles used) to get all surviving ancients safely into Angel Island, there, they colonized on Angel Island, creating the altar and other locations within the island like Sky Sanctuary, after centuries of colonizing in this new environment, their bodies gradually started to change with generations to adapt to their current location, turning into the Chao we know today, I am still not certain when the echidnas localized in Angel Island and what caused the Master Emerald to partially turn Chaos back to their origin, but when Chaos was formed, he definitely learned of the importance of the altar, thus becoming the guardian on the Master and Chaos Emeralds, as well as his fellow Chao, and it even explains why Chaos became angry ang resented the planet after the echidna invasion, he learned of the ancients past, and how they were almost wiped out, fearing it happening again to the Chao, he was overcome with negative emotions, absorbing the negative energy of the Chaos Emeralds to turn into Perfect Chaos, and the story is known from here.
Also seeing how the ending of the game shows potential growth on Tails, Knuckles and Amy, I'd love to see games where they're the main character and we get to explore their character more, especially with Knuckles on this one because we could learn more about the echidna tribe and how they got to Angel Island.

I was under the impression that Chaos was some primordial form of The Ancients that probably revolted in some way, whereas the Ancients of Chaos's time created the Master Emerald to seal it away and cast it to space, where it just so happened to land on Earth.
14:21 I think the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald were created by Light Gaia aka Chip on Earth as the gaia temples are like charging stations for the Chaos Emeralds but the Chaos Emeralds were sent to the ancients home world named Mobius to save the Chaos Emeralds from the Phantom Ruby created by Dark Gaia. Mobius is the home of the Ancients and of course the Mobians.
Very unlikely as emeralds technically contain a power that far surpasses light gaia and the master emerald is even worse a source of infinite power that only one exists in all realities

if you don't know, the phantom ruby was originally created in the starfall islands, the phantom ruby is also related to the ancients a lot, now the phantom ruby creators are unknown but my theory might guess who created the ruby, after the end destroyed the ancients home planet, they went to mobius, they found the starfall islands so they lived there but they wanted to prepare for a war between them and the end, so they created those ancient robots and stuff and they used cyberspace to keep their memories, it is said cyberspace can create a world based on the user's memories and the phantom ruby can also use the enemies's memories against them just like how infinire created the older villains sonic and his friends faught, the phantom ruby powers and cyber energy are not only similar in the color and their glitchy aura but in their abilities as well, it also doesn't make sense that the titans are powered by one purple chaos emerald while they can stand a chance against super sonic and their energy is cyber energy! it means that when the ancients were preparing everything they created the phantom ruby cause the chaos emeralds weren't enough to power everything, they created the ruby to create cyberspace and power their weapons with cyber energy, also the reason why the phantom ruby had more power since it can corrupt and warp reality while cyber energy only corrupted the users is I think it's similar to the emeralds, the emeralds have negative and positive energy, same thing with the ruby it has negative energy as cyber energy and positive energy as phantom energy.
Well, Eggman didn't actually jump into Cyberspace, Sage kind of pulled him into Cyberspace to protect him.

Eggman didn’t jump into cyberspace to escape the robots Sage pulled him in to protect his (just in cace TheEnd broke free). She even says so later in the game. He was trying to remove the device because he thought it was malfunctioning and that’s when Sage pulled him in. Also the robots were under Sages control going by Eggmans response and how the robots didn’t attempt to attack.
Now that we got the 3rd update, and it has a alternate ending. I’m a little confused. Is this a alternate timeline. Or is this just some kind dream someone dreamt up, and the 3rd update is the true ending. We need a update theory about why there is two different stories

I feel like a cool theory bouncing off the fact that they never said the Ancients made the emeralds is that the chaos emeralds actually did originate from earth. After some type of huge battle or something crazy like that, the emeralds were scattered across the universe. Since we saw the Ancients have ships and we can assume they traveled throughout space, we can then assume that they could have possibly found them at some point to be used for what they needed them for. I think this is a potential theory that could hold up because it still respects Unleashed’s foundation of the emeralds lore with the Gaia temples being made specifically for the emeralds to bring the planet back together if a fight between Light and Dark Gaia occurs.

They said The End is whatever we perceive the end of the world to be. The Moon being an apocalyptic end to humanity so we dont really know what Sage and Sonic are seeing. Also Sage was using Supremes gun and her color swapping as the Light and Dark shots. And I like to believe the Golden Burst (I'm calling that specially gold attack) is Sonics attack.
And personally I like to believe that Earths atmosphere is what changed the ancients into Chao m.

Hold up, you're supposed to do the light/dark energy blast "hacking" mini game during the final fight?? What?? I didn't get that, Super Sonic and Sage flew into space, The End's title card showed up in front of its moon-form, then sage just yeeted Sonic into The End while 3 short quick-time events happened. I was really disappointed that that was the extent of the final form of the final boss, but I guess there really was supposed to be more to it. I wonder what happened.
Anyway, great video! Good breakdown of the plot. I just finished the game last night and it was a lot of fun! Lots of questions still remain, but it looks like with the DLC Sonic Team is planning for next year that might answer a bunch of them!

In my school vr game the end is in the game as the reincarnated form known as code Maxwell who was working behind the curtains on manipulating the g universe a massive gundam database and manipulate them to kill the els and it was finally discovered when reborn goalius had took out the gundam zambatus code Maxwell was actually analysing goalius and tried to make a titan version of goalius and well goalius stopped it by crushing the head and smashed the cockpit then heads to the earth federation and during which code Maxwell panicked and then realised that making the titan would end up failing and he continued and then he started to continue when goalius is fighting the entire gatheroad squad and ultimately goalius entered the hanger and saw it being constructed at 90% complete and then has a fight against gundam theosakae a ai driven mobile armour with the hint of gundam but reborn goalius took it out with the help of the GM gatheroad and gundam latrieas mk 2 but it's too late the titan was completed and in a unexpected turn of events the titan crushed the gundam theosakae killing code Maxwell/the end and the titan heads to ultra space to kill the ultra beasts and once defeated the titan it's revealed that the titan was controlled by sage who was looking far worse to wear ( in a codex entery it sounded like she was cyber raped )

Theory: The Phantom Ruby is a small fragment of The End.
Reasoning for the Phantom Ruby being the closest contender to an incarnation of the End, or at least a fragment of its true power: "... You have fought machines and *gods*. They were mighty. They were finite. I am *Infinite*. I am nothing...") (also the slight shifting of a purple and red hue of the planetoid itself puts into question what it could be hiding underneath its surface) Another thing I want to add is that we know that the Phantom Ruby has its own sentience, its own consciousness. The being known as The End seems to be more of an evolution of that consciousness, for example, its ability to communicate with beings in a linguistic manner rather than being mute. Also, The End's reality distortions in the real world in EVERY single cutscene that it makes an appearance in also bears resemblance to the effects of the Phantom Ruby when it is being used. The point I'm trying to make with this in-depth explanation is that I strongly think that the Phantom Ruby has to be a small fragment from The End. Now the question becomes: how did it end up on Angel Island? Well, remember the battle that led to the sealing away of the End in Supreme? It wouldn't be too hard to imagine in all of that clamor, a fragment was torn off of the End, and it was sent hurtling towards Earth/Mobius, only to crash-land onto Angel Island.
Now the question becomes: what did it want with the Chaos Emeralds?
Perhaps it was seeking to merge with the Emeralds to make itself an even greater threat? Who knows?
We know that the Phantom Ruby has some control over the Chaos Emeralds as seen in the true ending of Mania, so why didn’t it do it then?
I think it didn’t do it then was because; again, it was a fragment of The End, and very much so incomplete without their greater portion. I don’t think it would’ve been able to keep itself together if it had decided to merge the Emeralds with itself then and there. It would probably take the ENTIRETY of The End (or at least a bigger chunk of it) to successfully merge the Emeralds with itself.
Now, if all that is true for the connection between The End, and the Phantom Ruby, then we may have a slight catastrophe in the wings for future Sonic games. With the destruction of The End, all of its fragments rained down upon Earth/Mobius, and if I’m right with the correlation, then we’re up for a serious catastrophe in the coming games...
My greatest fear is that we’re going to get more people (like, but unlike Infinite) who use the Ruby’s power, only for it to consume them in the end. (Side note: perhaps with all of these fragments now on Earth/Mobius, maybe the Phantom Ruby will want to merge with its other fragments to become bigger and stronger; to rebuild The End.)

The ending actually glitched on me for the boss fight with The End. All I got was the QuickTime events, lol
Were you playing on normal or easy mode? I also thought it glitched for me but no, you can only fight the final boss in hard mode. If you're on normal or easy it skips the boss and goes straight to the quick time events

That’s not what happens
The reason why the ancients turned into Chao is because according to Eggman’s memos their DNA corroded to a point where they turned into a completely different species, hence the “de-evolution” into Chao. Eggman mentioned how some kind of “radiation” effected them for eons. This is likely the master emerald’s and the ancients over generations were turned into chao from it. How Chaos came to be is is unkown, but we do know he was a chao originally, so he probably had his ancient DNA somehow resurface.
Also, it’s extremely likely The End wasn’t wiped out alongside Sage at the end there. The End mentions how no matter what form it takes it will always consume, and how sonic “strikes at this incarnation with all his might, yet it changes nothing”
The End seems to be an Undefeatable enemy at the moment.
I'm honestly thankful that we might be able to see The End again because we honestly know next to nothing about it right now; no known origins, no known motivations, possible connections to other villains that have very little information but still might be true.
Here’s how i beat the end. I was on hard and died like 6 times then i got it to half health and switched to easy mode and then it just went to the cutscene of the quick time event

Honestly I wish some aspects were explained a tad better, for instance who was controlling who, and to be honest that Supreme fight was really underwhelming... Wyvern was by far the best fight of the 4...
Also with Knuckles going back to the Master Emerald, Tails going on his solo adventure, i'd like to clarify that Amy is going with Cream and Sticks for afternoon tea... which of all the references to previous games/ventures, I wondered if they'd make a funny quip at Boom, but no, ALTHOUGH Amy name-dropped Sticks and I was shook! Given the different knuckles/sonic in that universe im wondering if they're ignoring its canon but making a new Sticks canon to these games?
Granted I might have been the only person to enjoy Boom and the show...

I wrote this comment on a video of rhea Island's music and I made a slight rewrite in a string of consciousness kind of way.
First of all, rhea island is not given a space on the thing where you see how much you explored of each of the islands. Treating it the same as the first three islands is just making it seem like there is more to the game than there actually is.
One story thing I think I would change is make it so we see that supreme is actually the true form of the end and the ancients modeled giganto, wyvern and knight after it to fight against it. That detail will matter in a second, anyway…
While sonic is activating the towers, Sage tells sonic that the end is manipulating him to his end by running him ragged waving his friends in his face and giving him his cyber corruption. so once sonic gets fully corrupted, amy, knuckles, and tails come back to realize that the end is ready to destroy them all since sonic is neutralized. The end wasn't lying when they said they would bring back sonic's friends, but they didn't specify the context. The end just wanted to watch his friends see their beloved sonic stuck in between dimensions to make them lose hope. Tails, Amy, and Knuckles realize that only super sonic could have a chance at fighting back against the end, so they all go and collect the chaos emeralds (sage is able to help them all get the emeralds without the need for vault keys) and they bring sonic back with the chaos emeralds (calling back to 06 in the process) and Sonic fights supreme with im here playing but without lyrics. Then once the first phase is completed Sage realizes she would need to help super sonic fight supreme in space now and then I’m here plays with lyrics. The whole time supreme/the end is using moves similar to giganto , wyvern, and knight. Finally, to stop the end from firing a laser to destroy earth, sage sacrifices herself like in the game (possibly remembering how shadow turned out and deciding to take a gamble and hope she could come back) and super sonic falls back to the islands where his friends are and they celebrate and sonic mourns sage before remembering what happened to shadow and is like “I think we will see her again soon someday” and then the credits roll. We still see the same cutscene with eggman showing that sage was saved. After that, you can explore ouranos island as postgame content. It is explained by sonic coming back to the islands just because he hasn’t finished exploring all of them yet. On ouranos island you cannot collect chaos emeralds anymore, but now the portals let you relive memories and refight the titans whenever you want. Let’s just say since sonic just wants to finish exploring the starfall islands, it only now allows you to travel back to the other islands as well because if you did that before it didn’t make any sense. After you get to the post game and you can travel back to Kronos island, rhea island is added to your map on Kronos island, and you can go back there for some hard to trigger dialogue having sonic come to conclusions about the lore and story. Some other lore reveals and clarifications also happen on ouranos Island, completely from sonic figuring things out himself and some cyberspace shenanigans or something, I just don't want sage to explain everything herself.
A lore details I would add are showing that the master emerald and the chaos emeralds came from a magical meteor that got split apart by the end to keep a civilization from having a chance at defeating it, but seven small pieces of it formed into the chaos emeralds that the ancients used to escape the end, and a bigger chunk formed into the master emerald (why did that Knuckles animation have to tease a reveal of where the master emerald came from if we never got that in the game) so the master emerald landed on an island and once the ancients got to it, they found a way to make it float so the island could be less vulnerable to attackers. I also want to add that when the ancients escaped to angel island, most left behind their kokos on the starfall islands so in the slim chance that anything survives, their koko can keep their individual memories. Some ancients keep their koko with them on angel island, and those who do are not affected by the master emerald's weird radiation it gives off that turned the ancients without thier koko into various chao that we see on angel island in the prolouge. I think eventually the ancients that kept their koko still became less tall and developed bigger eyes to adapt to the earth's gravity and environment. They eventually don't need thier koko to withstand the master emerald anymore, so they just turn them into masks, one of them being found by the nights chao in the prolouge. One of the ancients that gave up their kokos is chaos, the one from sonic adventure. I'm also headcannoning that that guy could essentially just be a water monster from being around the master emerald for so long.
Now, this part goes into massive theory territory but I wanted to share it here: I think that sonic characters, the animal people that are often the playable characters(I'll just call them mobians) I think these guys came from the ancients too. I mean, from what I have built up, the ancients that became like Chaos have big eyes, lanky limbs, large heads, and big hands and feet. Maybe the Chaos-like ancients then interacted with ancestors of many animal species, eventually leading some animals to become the mobians we see in the sonic version of earth. Humans and non-sentient animals could have just evolved separately from them. This explains why we can see non-sentient seagulls flying by sonic and why we can just fish up a squid and have it not look like a sonic character. Maybe the mobians are just called hedgehogs, foxes, and echidnas because of how they look. Maybe the ancients being around the master emerald gave them magical powers, leading to the mobians having various superpowers such as rolling into a ball, long tails, and the ability to use the chaos emeralds efficiently. Maybe the ancients having appendages on the back of their heads carried into what most of the hedgehog characters look like.

The Koco itself were nothing more than totems. As for Chaos, due to his origin being mutated Chao, it is likely that his form is not completely like the Ancient, but rather something inbetween
You got the sage and Maria part kinda wrong. The thing he was jealous of Maria and never really knew her much just that people talked really highly about her. So later on when sage became more of her own character, personality etc. He started to wonder if sage was anything like her.

My version:
Sonic has to kill 3 ancestors that were controlled by Sage in order to free his friends because a black moon tells him. After that Sonic gets corrupted and his friends makes a satanic ritual to bring him back to life, and so, now he has to collect the 7 chaos emeralds again to be able to punch the moon out of a robot with a gun and so, the same robot controlled again by Sage trows Sonic to the moon like Giganto did to him at the beginning of the game.
I’m not really sure if you could call it a theory, as there’s not really any evidence for it. But what if in the sonic universe each planet has its own version of the chaos emeralds, like it would vary in size and numbers, but every planet in sonic’s world has some sort of chaos emerald. For example there could be one planet that has only two larger chaos emeralds, and maybe on another planet there’s just lots of smaller chaos emeralds that litter the planet and are abundant. And the chaos emeralds are some kind of natural that is found with every planet, sort of made by the universe and not civilisations. I don’t really know if I’m making sense, like I said not really a theory just brainstorming ideas kinda.
Sonic Frontiers actually confirms Sonic Unleashed as canon so my question is, how has the Gaia cycle existed maybe even before the Chaos Emeralds were on Earth?
Also Egg memo 11 says that the Ancients were mutated into the Chaos by radiation so couldn't the Chao just be the mutated forms of the Koco?

I don’t know if it’s deliberate but Chaos in SA always had some kind of headpiece that connected his body like a spine. Can the CoCo or dud they once have a body like that? They seem to evolve ir relate to the Chao, was Chaos the one who didn’t evolve and thus was able to be manipulated like the Titans were from the Coco? It feels like a deliberate call back, you can’t look at the Coco water form and not think I’ve seen that before. Infact there are tons of SA callbacks and I wonder if it’s a nice wink, or a prelude to some kind of SA Sequel. Really feels like if they go off this story or background in this that they could really Segway into some kind of SA3 where we call back to the Master Emerald and tye cultures Chao and Echinda and Chaos.
