    I find it VASTLY easier to take it all the way apart, but everyone’s different, and that’s what makes us beautiful!

    Seeing how you align the washers and get that weird shaped pin through the whole stack was super helpful nick. I had my bugout fully disassembled last night and got stuck on that last step before going to bed. Woke up early and and your video was the first and last I had to watch to help me out. Thanks so much, great job

    I've found it easier to leave the front scale off for reassembly. That leaves one liner loose, and you have more wiggle room to get the washers and blade back in. Also, insert a piece of toothpick or Q-tip stick to hold the axis lock back.
    Just put the Rogue OD green G-10 scales on mine. The orange stand-offs and thumb stud look good with the green IMO. Went together perfectly, perfect action and centering.

    i caught bugout fever for a second but the found the off-center blade to be unacceptable. i prefer the SOG Terminus XR S35vn as my lightweight EDC but it has its warts as well.

    • @edrader
      @edrader 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      sharp flipper. I hand to significantly sand it down. that combined with strong detent make it a real finger shredder especially if you accidentally have your thumb on the lock. nevertheless I love this knife. love the blade, size, weight, price and the lock is better than the axis lock.

    • @edrader
      @edrader 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i like the SOG lock better than benchmade or spyderco. easier to use. one thing i hate about benchmade, and I've owned several axis lock knives, is when they are new if you flick the knife hard the lock jams. the sog has never done that

    Pulling back on the pivot spring is essential to getting the D shaped pivot back in all the way once you have it started into the D shaped channel. Also, using your business card method of pushing the washers into place was helpful. I notice you don't cover it here.

    I wash my knife in hot soapy water working the components. Then I rinse in hot water working the components. they I blast the knife with WD40 removing the water and any soap residues also working the knife components. then I dry with a clean rag and let sit for a few hours under a lamp to allow the WD40 to evaporate. Then I lube the lock and joint with a few micro drops of 5w30 synthetic. Works like a charm. No need for disassembly or special oil. Unless you want to.

    Question? 9:57 you have a D shaped pivot, so the pivot is locked into non rotational.
    How is the second screw supposed to come loose?
    Maybe vibration? Where would most knives ever encounter that kind of vibration?
    Color me confused.

    • @mrsw916
      @mrsw916 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      By second screw do you mean second pivot screw?
      I believe that this knife, like the mini griptillian, has only one pivot screw

    • @amunderdog

    • @mrsw916
      @mrsw916 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that's how it's constructed, is your question about how it could come unintentionally loose?

      @@mrsw916 Yes

    • @DavePotokar
      @DavePotokar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      jake legg it can come loose through many forms of small and constant vibration. The action of simply flicking it open repeatedly can loosen the pivot screw. Those small parts are slamming open and closed on a smaller scale, however they are "slamming" on that minute scale. Same with the closing action. Basically just using the knife can loosen a screw if it's not loctited.

    • @WalterW
      @WalterW 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thejuicer9706, I'm in the minority here, but I also don't like their ergonomics. Being left handed, I do like the Axis lock, but Spyderco makes the Manix 2 that fits my hand MUCH better and has the ball bearing lock. Also Spyderco's QA is outstanding. I've never gotten a janky knife from them.
