This is actually one of the better quality clones ive seen
Ya they are what they are the basic Bugout clones are decent - I’ve bought quite a few over the years . The downside is the scales they have some give to them … thanks for watching
@@ArizonaLifestyles1 I bought some scales made for the genuine ones and I bought springs made for original and linears made for original and I'm gonna see if I can turn it exactly like the original all the parts etc so I can easily change scales

I've got one of these Bugout clones. For the money, under $20 shipped, they really are a good budget knife.

I couldn’t get the pivot back on….until the dremel and hammer came out. Perfection!

@@ArizonaLifestyles1 real one. Titanium scales, upgraded springs, all titanium hardware.
@@jmare25what about the springs do you think you "upgraded"? Extensive testing has indicated there are no upgrades over the axis lock springs, unless you mean replacing worn out/broken ones? Theres no upgraded materials or tempers of note..

@@ArizonaLifestyles1 I was trying to change the screws to Blue ones, I put it back to stock. It is just a work beater, I of course do like you and buy the real ones also. I just saw the video about your wife today ,I am so sorry it happened to you. I also subscribed today. I did not even realize you were the guy who helped in the assembly of my clone, so thanks again

I know it is an older video, but I’m wondering about the blade spacers ( washers). Are they metal (brass, bronze, etc.) or are they the plastic ones with stainless ball bearings? I have a clone that gets modified from time to time and it has the ball bearing spacers. I tried to replace them with some bronze washers but could not get things aligned without major binding taking place. I switched them back and it went together much the same as the one in this video. I have a few genuine Benchmade knives that I do not tinker around with but the cheap clone gets all the tweaking. Good video here. I use a bit of light oil to make some of the parts a bit sticky. You may want to try it. YMMV, though.
They seem to be brass … but that might just be Chinese anodizing
There is an easier way to assemble the bugout. What you need to do is attach the other side of the scale, the one with the button side of the pivot. Don't assemble the whole axis lock yet, leave the other side without the plate and the spring. Then replace the washer and the blade. Now replace the plate back and the axis lock spring. Finish with replacing the scale.

Do you know if aftermarket scales will work on the clones?
I think they will because they are so close … but just in case buy them from a source you can return … by some chance they don’t
But you just ordered the 535-3 … don’t replace carbon fiber scales :) they are awesome!
@@ArizonaLifestyles1 oh for sure not replacing those! Thinking about picking up a basic one to throw those crazy lime green scales from flytanium on. Carbon fiber scales are staying on for sure!

@@foursighthothey arent drop in, but the do work. Minor fitting required. The benchmade is a terrible value in knife world anyway (besides the fact benchmade is a shitty, leftist company), so these 15 dollar clones arent hurting anyone. (And yes, i own real bugout, and a few other bms i bought before researching). Hogue deka with magnacut is cheaper. Better steel, also us made, and a good company.
Will replacement hardware work on a replica /clone?

The basic one is probably a cheap stainless steel AUS 8 - and I couldn’t tell ya on Damascus maybe a D2 variant … maybe - thanks for watching

I wish i never took it apart.. now i can't assemble it, it's too hard because the springs don't stay in place
Yup - I realized that with the axis lock too … it was challenging to get them back together … next time I don’t think I’ll take the axis lock apart … I guess the only reason to take it apart is to change out the scales … and you don’t need to take the axis lock apart to change scales … good luck getting it back together

@@ArizonaLifestyles1i didnt find ot difficult, nick shabazz does a good teardown on a real bugout that works well. I tore mine down to add tritium axis lock, and to thoroughly clean. Took 20 min all in
