Thanks for the video. My tips: 1) Be ready for a life-lesson on improving your patience as you wait to get your form 4 approved. 2) Decide whether you are buying as an individual, a general gun trust, or a single shot trust. Each has their advantages and disadvantages. The single shot trust is great, but a drawback of these, is you have to have a copy of the trust and tax stamp for each item you take out. This is about 22 pages or so. This means if you are taking an SBR and a suppressor to the range, you will be toting about 44 pages of paper with you. (unless you print it to both sides of course) - A positive is the single shot does let you sell the can by putting the buyer as a responsible party trustee (they have to have prints, background check, etc) and then letting them take you off the trust. (or sell it with borrowers rights if you are selling to a friend) 3) If you are looking for maximum suppression of sound, stay away from the short K or SK type models. They look cool but they do not muffle the noise as well as a full size can. (Which I think most folks want maximum suppression?) - A modular one can give you both options in a single package. 4) Lots of people choose a trust because they think it makes it easier to pass the items to their heirs. It does, but you can also just spell it out in your will who you want the item to go to. The person can file a form 5 to transfer it to themself and the good 'ol ATF even waives the tax stamp for the heir.
Finger prints for a suppressor but not for a firearm purchase? $200 tax stamp to buy an accessory/hearing protection for a gun? It all amounts to a load of brown stuff.
I got my first suppressor a few days ago from Allied Arms, I was pleased with all the gear I got from them. I agree that they are much like tats you always want more after the first one.
thanks for the information, the Silencer Shop Kiosk was new to me and I think will be helpful when I finally buy a suppressor - also your comments about pistol vs rifle. thanks again, great content!
If you sue their kiosk. You can only buy NFA items from them. They will not give you your own prints and picture. It's a trap so you only buy from them.
Thanks for the video. Something I noticed in several different shots throughout the video is it appears that you often rest the barrel vs. the handguard on whatever you're using for support when shooting. I believe there are reasons why that is not a good practice and perhaps you may want to consider changing that.
@troyisenhoff3291 , sure, if you're willing to drop $1000 on a metal tube. That's as much as I spent on a rifle and scope. Tell me how much sense that makes.
Great video, TY. Just started the process on my first can a few weeks ago. Like you said, you’re going to buy multiple, so I went with a PWS .22. Next 1 I want is to go on a 44 mag lever action. If anyone has suggestions for that, I’d love to hear
When traveling with a weapon, sometimes you do have to handle the locked container. I recently went to South Africa and had a 12 hour layover in Atlanta. This required me to receive my luggage and possess it until I could recheck the luggage two hours prior to my departure to South Africa from Atlanta. Of course, I did not open, the weapons case at any time.
Getting a supressor is a crazy and complicated process. I’ve tried a couple of times. First time I waited a year and a half, and then was denied by the ATF. Still don’t know why. But, I’d paid around a thousand dollars for the supressor and the tax stamp. After waiting a year and a half, I got about half of that back. No refund on the tax stamp, and a 30% restocking fee on the supressor. Now, I’m a year and three months into my second attempt. Again, I paid about a thousand dollars over a year ago. Still waiting. It’s a lot of expense and effort just to try to protect my hearing and my family’s hearing in the event of a home defense situation. 🤷♂️
If they're charging you a restocking I would find a different dealer. I got denied on one of my cans because of a spelling error and I got refunded my tax stamp money. I reapplied and got it approved in about 7 months.
Get a suppressor is as really super easy. IF YOU are dealing with a good dealer, all you have to do is get a set of fingerprints and stop by CVS and get a passport photo. It's really that simple
Find one. Understand you will need to pay at least an extra $300. Forget that you bought it for 6-9 months. And realize its yours....forever. Thanks for the fantastic video!
Hey Heg, if I get a notification of a new video, I watch it because I feel you are looking out for my Best interest !!!! I just bought my first suppressor “ The Alaskan 369 “ just learning more !!! Enjoyed you content 💥💥🔫 Thanks from Commy Ct. 🇺🇸
Just started the process, then purchasing the Silencer Co. 46m so itll run my 338lm, 556, 300wm, 9mm AND my 45s, which the 36m wont. Once one gets over the sting of the price of a great suppressor, its not that bad.
With multi shims i prefer to put thiker on out side and thinner shims in the middle. And to tighten berrel vise the barrel and thin plywood on baffels of the break and a wrench on baffel area.
for my first can I went with the largest bore diameter I expected to ever shoot. now my 46m hybrid can be used on everything from my 22lr pistol all the way up to my 45-70. I did get a dedicated rimfire suppressor then a pistol suppressor and just started the process to get my 4th can for my AK pattern weapons. if you had asked me 10 years ago is I would ever own a suppressor I would have said I have no need for one... now my 4th is in NFA jail, my how times have changed.
I watched that video too, and had the same thought. I believe he must have been talking about other NFA items, because silencers are exempt from that requirement at least. It was a big reason I didn’t look into them sooner, so I’m glad I asked more questions.
This is only true for Form 1’s. Homemade suppressors/sbr’s/sbs’s. Aka self manufactured items. Form 4’s do not require paperwork. All the rules and confusion is the ATF hard at work, attempting to make it seem more dangerous than it is.
With the fast technology, computers, in today's world, I don't see why the approval process takes that long. Having said that, I'm considering buying my first suppressor thanks for the video.
Silencer shop gun trust and the Silencer shop kiosk.. Process could not be easier and there's almost no way to screw it up. Trust was set up in literally 10 minutes. Suppressor took almost a year but that's on the AFT.
This is perfectly timed for me. Looking to buy one this summer. But im still confused about the order of the process. Am i taking this extra background check and paying all in the same day? Am i buying the suppressor the same day? Should i be waiting to buy the suppressor and do the tax stamp and background check first?
The silencer company applies the serial number immediately upon purchase…then it sits and waits for approval. I suggest calling someone like Silencer Central. They really helped me debunk a lot of information I thought I knew. I rolled everything in to a single purchase including tax stamp, suppressor and trust and they even split it into 8 interest free payments. It doesn’t even require a credit check, as they will have the suppressor until approved. If it gets approved before the final payment, you can pay the balance immediately, or continue until paid in full. My only complaint with Silencer Central was that I had to wait 3 weeks for a certification appointment once my fingerprints were approved, because they were busy. The positive is that you never have to leave your house, and several months later it appears at your door.
@@zeromech1450 Yes, but for some reason you fill out the 4473 after you get ATF approval. So, it’s establishing a trust, then form 4 (NFA Item) with a passport style photo, fingerprints, submission to ATF (including payment for tax stamp), wait, wait, wait, wait…approval from ATF, then form 4473, then notice to my sheriff, then the suppressor ships to my home. At least that’s the process through Silencer Central, but I would assume the process is the same for most if there aren’t local laws that differ from mine.
@natedawg23451000 we took the feds to court and it's moving up to the Supreme Court. The argument is suppressors made in Texas for Texans and staying in Texas shouldn't be regulated. That opened up the door for the question to be nationwide because they aren't a Taxing authority and suppressors aren't firearms. The armed scholars has great breakdowns of all of this.
I'm doing a 300blk pistol build and I will probably not have a silencer in the foreseeable future. $600-1000 for the silencer plus $200 for the ATF. Yeah, no thanks. Everything is already expensive enough. I'd be more inclined if the suppressor itself wasn't so expensive. I get that titanium and certain materials aren't cheap but come on.
Recoil reduction is one benefit, but home defense and range time are my main reasons. I have tinnitus and have already paid hundreds to protect my remaining hearing…anything I can do to keep that damage to a minimum is money well spent (except for the unconstitutional tax stamp). In the terrible case that I have to defend my family inside of the house, I’d like to know that we will still be able to communicate and hopefully not bleed from our ears!
Is there a difference in the background check for a suppressor than a firearm? Or is it the same but they're adding extra hoops to go through to discourage people?
In short, lots of extra hoops. 200 tax tax stamp, fingerprints, photo, background check, and a long wait for the government to process all of the above (except the $200 - they take that fast).
my question is? do you have to go through the whole wait time again after getting your 1st can? I am 9 months into my wait time do i have to go through the wait time again or is it shorter?
There’s no rhyme or reason with regard to wait times. Each application is a separate entity and the wait times could anywhere from 3 months to over a year.
You have to do the same process over again. Finger prints have to be made within a week of processing electronically, if I remember correctly. This means you cannot send in the same fingerprints you did the previous time.
I dont find SS kiosk to be any easier just more of a hassle. I just got my finger prints at the PD for free and passport photo from walgreenss and my FFL spent 15 minutes to fill the form out and we shipped off the prints. Super simple. Now i have .eft prints and he doesnt even have to leave the shop.
Everyone in the trust who has a can with them are supposed to have a copy of the tax stamp with them. I HEARD a photo or pdf scan on your phone was good enough but I can’t confirm. I made a dozen copies of every tax stamp, put them in zip locks and put them in everyone’s glove box, my UTVs’ glove boxes, etc with the originals in my safe.
What is the logic/reasoning behind making any suppressor for any firearm illegal? Is it poaching people are concerned about? Isn't someone who uses a suppressor for nefarious means ultimately unaffected by their legality?
That was loud! You want quiet i discovered the ultimate pew pew suppressor only drawback is there only good for 50- 100 rounds but good thing is dirt cheap and can carry as many as you want. So here it is get yourself a white corn cob not a yellow🌽 one them you going to remove about 10 kernals drill yourself a little 1/4 port straight through to middle or whatever bore size you want. Stick that cob right on the end of your rifle, pistol, ect gun of your choice except for higher calibers like 50 cal 338 lapua definitely no shot guns you get the point. But 556, 223, 9 mm, 30 cal no problem. And get this you can travel all 50 states. Going to other countries might be a problem as you cant take fruits or vegetables to and from certian places but really you just make yourself a new one as long as they got corn! If you forget to declare and your in danger of getting caught, well simple stick it right up your corn hole and avoid body scanners. No tax stamp, nothing. If someone thinks you been using one either back in the corn hole, or simply start eating it as fast as possible. Hope it wasnt the one you had in the corn hole. Anyway its so quiet just find out for yourself! Im not responsible for any problems you may encounter. Use at your own discretion and be safe and responsible out there. You may want to carry Vaseline or some type of lube with you at all times fyi! Be safe!
When SHTF getting oil filter adaptors will be nearly impossible. If that’s your plan, you better have them before SHTF. Good luck trying to have Amazon deliver during SHTF.
Not to mention the 1 year wait. Yes, the ATF said these form 4’s would process much quicker. No it has not happened. Second option is a form 1. A bit more technical(this is building the suppressor)or oil filter. But much quicker to obtain a suppressor. Quicker as in 2-12 weeks wait time. Just be thorough and do your research. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING UNTIL YOU ARE APPROVED. No one wants their dog shot
Hey dude. Ask your local shop if they will do it. Sig made it a pain to get the stock muzzle device off. The shop may not do it/ don’t want to do it. Worse case, if you send it back to Sig, they will do it. Once I found that out about the spears / mcx, it kinda turned me off from them but best of luck
There are numerous TH-cam channels that routinely claim that the Supreme Court has released some opinion or the other eliminating a gun reg and now we’re all free. It’s all clickbait. Absolutely no Supreme Court opinion has been issued that voids the fee, despite what various TH-cam lawyers proclaim.
Like the John Wick movie where they are shooting at each other inside of a mall & all the people around them are oblivious as if, a "silencer" makes a firearm silent, more propaganda. A firearm with a silencer on it is still loud!!! Just not as loud! Like a car with & without the system.
Once you use it. You cannot use those fingerprints and picture anywhere else. They will not give them to you. It's a ploy to get you to buy from them only. Don't do it. You can get your own done on a thumb drive. And use it at any shop, anywhere.
My first experience, Patience is a virtue….. Range officers have a tendency to talk to you about your can, especially if it’s fresh to the market…. Be prepared to present your tax stamp to every range officer you encounter at the range….. Buy a suppressor that is as maintenance free as possible,,, nobody likes a diva!!!!!!!
This is funny! But not true. Oil cans still have to be serialized and registered. - this would be considered a Form 1 suppressor. It’s funny because you can sometimes see actual oil filters in a display case with other suppressors at more humorous gun shops.
I don't understand why anyone would put a suppressor on a home defense weapon, the bad guys ain't gonna have one. Ear muffs on the bed side table are cheaper, more effective, and don't require any paperwork.
Most of the time in a real world event where you find yourself needing to quickly use your weapon for self defense, ear pro will not be on your mind. You'll be tired and confused and scared when you get woke up in the middle of the night with a stranger in your home. Just my opinion
The last thing you want to do in a self defense situation is to handicap one of your senses. Hearing is perhaps the most valuable sense besides sight when there are people somewhere in your home with unknown intentions.
What about other family members in your household? Quick…put the earmuffs on the baby and the dog! Also, communication with the family in a panic situation is key.
@@jcb86-a it's obvious yall are inventing wild scenarios just to be contrarian, and haven't actually thought this thru. Your family should already know the drill for emergencies, you aren't going to be coordinating a CQB counter assault with your wife and children and dog. They are going to jam their fingers into their ears on instinct as soon as rounds break loose. Suppressor pros: it will make your personal guns a little quieter, hides muzzle flash. Cons: It's still way too fucking loud to protect your hearing indoors, adds 6 inches and a pound to the end of your barrel, shitty ballistics, expensive, taxes, paperwork, fingerprints, months and months of waiting, and bad guys don't use them. Do whatever you want, feel free to leave your own comment about how super awesome supressors are, but you haven't convinced me that it's a useful idea in any way.

Be safe!
Question. Do you have to pay $200.00 for each suppressor?
Yes
When SHTF, oil filters make great silencers, just get the adaptors (get a few for all the guns).
Tell me more about these adapters 😂 (a link is fine)
When SHTF getting oil filter adaptors will be nearly impossible. If that’s your plan, you better have them before SHTF. Good luck trying to have Amazon deliver during SHTF.
Gay
Not to mention the 1 year wait. Yes, the ATF said these form 4’s would process much quicker. No it has not happened.
Second option is a form 1. A bit more technical(this is building the suppressor)or oil filter. But much quicker to obtain a suppressor. Quicker as in 2-12 weeks wait time. Just be thorough and do your research. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING UNTIL YOU ARE APPROVED. No one wants their dog shot
@@finney861 I got mines back in two weeks. Didn’t do the trust, opted for individual and got it back fairly quickly.
What’s the rifle at 10:40?
How'd you get your muzzle device off your MCX?
@blackops7psn yeah, I want to put a surefire 4 prong on it. But, apparently they put a pound of rocksett on it or something.
I need one to dispatch predators.
I think suppressors for rifles are silly, they are still pretty loud. That being said they are safety devices for pistols and shouldn't be taxed
Do you know a good can shop in texas with a kiosk?
Where you at? Central area?
Small town , Gun Barrel City. East of Dallas
@@jameshale7203Check with Range USA, they may have Silencershop Kiosk on site
Wait did he say you can cross statelines with a suppressor? I don't know if i trust that advice?
I was under the Supreme Court cancelled the $200 fee?????
There are numerous TH-cam channels that routinely claim that the Supreme Court has released some opinion or the other eliminating a gun reg and now we’re all free. It’s all clickbait. Absolutely no Supreme Court opinion has been issued that voids the fee, despite what various TH-cam lawyers proclaim.
Just 3d print them. Ftn.3
Do I need to give them my fingerprints & pay them $200 if I use an oil filter instead?
I’m praying the new SHUSH Act passes…
Like the John Wick movie where they are shooting at each other inside of a mall & all the people around them are oblivious as if, a "silencer" makes a firearm silent, more propaganda. A firearm with a silencer on it is still loud!!! Just not as loud! Like a car with & without the system.
Once you use it. You cannot use those fingerprints and picture anywhere else. They will not give them to you. It's a ploy to get you to buy from them only. Don't do it. You can get your own done on a thumb drive. And use it at any shop, anywhere.
Well.... this is most likely outdated now after the ATF toasted the e file
I will never trust a air line to get me and my bags to the same place much less a high cost suppresor.
The ATF makes nothing simple. That's their goal in life to just complicate s***
Can’t afford them
An SBR is nothing more than a long barrel pistol
My first experience,
Patience is a virtue…..
Range officers have a tendency to talk to you about your can, especially if it’s fresh to the market….
Be prepared to present your tax stamp to every range officer you encounter at the range…..
Buy a suppressor that is as maintenance free as possible,,, nobody likes a diva!!!!!!!
Get them removed from the NFA !
You should not use silencer when talking about suppressors
It will take about a year regardless of who you are.... PERIOD
Not anymore
WHY.
Oil Filters, no tax stamp, no approval from uncle sam or government, screw ATF!!!
This is funny! But not true. Oil cans still have to be serialized and registered. - this would be considered a Form 1 suppressor. It’s funny because you can sometimes see actual oil filters in a display case with other suppressors at more humorous gun shops.

For gods sake stop with the crush washers already!
$200 that’s just the way it is!! lol. No thanks
id argue that silencers on handguns are utterly useless in a practical sense
Go ahead then, argue it for us
a 5.7 is loud so you would like one on it.I sure do because I own one🤣
I don’t understand why ANYONE is willing to follow this process.
Some people would like to own a silencer without worrying about the government placing them in a room for 10 years.
Haha 😂 you paid for this yet in no way is it hearing safe!! Lol 😂 do your research people, if it’s not hearing safe, DO NOT buy it!! 🤷♂️🤦♂️
1/d2
