    The only negative thing to that system is that ear-splitting/fingernails-raking-across-a-chalkboard screechy sound that happens when the segments screw together. I think the reason you only got the baffle strike while holding it is cause when it was tied down, the barrel wasn't swaying. However, when you held it, natural slight bodily movements happened causing the suppressor to sway while the bullet was shooting causing the baffle to get struck. This would actually be a pretty cool idea to completely silence a .50 bmg if you had supports to keep the suppressor from swaying.

Your shots will definitely alert the surrounding 30 enemy soldiers. But you remember your Q silencer. It’s meant to be - silence is your plan to slowly eliminate them all 1 by 1. You’re ready. If after shooting no bullet exits the barrel, it does not necessarily mean a misfire, do not watch down the barrel remember that it takes the Bullet some time before it reaches the end of the barrel (a bullet only travels at around the speed of sound after all). I could see suppressors like this being useful for long term sniping positions. And the possibility for complete silence+zero muzzle flash means the position could possibly *stay* as a sniping position for a longer period of time. If the longer suppressor had some sort of support instead of just hanging off the end, it wouldn’t sag and would only increase velocity.
    I think an integrally suppressed sniper rifle with a very long barrel like this and a way to support the weight without drooping would be perfect for certain positions like holding an area.

      At some point you would not only get into diminishing returns, but you would also end up losing a lot of velocity with a really long barrel/suppressor setup, even when properly supported, which will in turn start to affect your accuracy and effective range. There is bound to be some sweet spot where you've got just enough barrel length and suppression to serve the purpose of staying hard to detect without hindering performance, but that will tend to vary depending on the bullets being shot and at what sort of distances are required.

  • @menchelke

    I am making a guess after you did 4 sets on the .22, I would think that the recoil that generally causes a slight barrel lifting force, would cause the tip of the droop to spring up with good enough timing to avoid being struck, basically it self centers, as there is just enough droop to spring ration. But I also think you will hit a point where you get a baffle strike, so there is probably some sort of sweet spot that some mathematician can figure out. *edit* and my theory of why you starting getting baffle strikes when shoulder fireing, is because your body isn't holding the rifle as rigid as the vice, making you absorb more energy, changing the flex of the barrel and also you where swinging the rifle, which would mean the barrel would have momentum vs being at rest before each shot.

    • @evilbron666
      @evilbron666 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i was thinking this also, as well as the pressure from the shot putting internal pressure on the suppressor, 'inflating' it and straightening. maybe :)

      For a mathematician to "figure it out", it'd only be specific to one gun with one ammo type and one specific length. They'd have to run thousands of tests to figure out the balance for each gun, ammo, and silencer length. I don't think it's worth it 😂
