I had the 2019 DCT model and it was an amazing car. It ticked a lot of boxes and was surprisingly stable at high speeds (around 160 kmh, don’t ask how I know). I have driven 55k kms in under 2 years, went to Italy, France and many places. Never had a single issue. It’s an underrated car.

    • @xorkatoss

lmao having issues in a car before 100.000km/5 year warranty is to be expected, I mean why you think they give you that warranty?? because it's almost guaranteed to run fine until you run out of warranty LOL!

    • @samuelchopard
      @samuelchopard 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@@xorkatoss well, I purchased a BMW and got two (medium) issues in the first 6 months… I had to take it twice to the shop to get it checked/repaired. So a warranty doesn’t necessarily equal to no issues.

Matt actually missed an important thing about this car: the clutch is "by wire", the pedal isn't directly connected to the clutch, but uses an electrical signal and an actuator. That allows the car to decouple the engine from the transmission, allowing the car to coast when you lift the foot from the throttle, and at the same time makes the clutch pedal lighter and easier to use in city traffic.

Actually the exterior got me first and I had no issue with the plastic interior. I would rather have the i20s interior than piano black everywhere which gets dirty AF. The digital dash and the reverse camera also sold me on the car because here the i20 with all these costs much less than an entry level 208 or the cheapest Fabia/Fiesta/Astra. The only car offering better value for money is the new Dacia Sandero BUT after seeing them both, the i20 felt night and day compared to that.

Hi Matt, nice review that helped made my choice for this i20 about 6 months ago :) however, here in France we have slightly different caracs for the high-level: no heated seats (shame), dual-clutch automatic gearbox with 7 speeds (very cool, and gives a level 2 autonomous driving), two-tone paint (black on the roof) and the car is fitted with 17" Hankook Ventus Prime 3 tires (less noise tan Michelin, and grips a bit better on the dry).
After more than 10k kilometers, it's a very nice car, playful on twisty roads, awesome on long highways trips! If I had to change it, it would only be for the N version with 204hp 😁

The footage of overtaking capability on the motorway is totally staged, unless the model being driven is the 1.2L 84BHP base spec version (not available with mild hybrid) ! Having driven the 100PS 1.0L turbo 7 speed DCT, it has more than plenty enough oomph to zip past traffic in the outer lane, without holding up on-coming vehicles, especially vans (utter nonsense)! Furthermore, it is very composed overtaking on motorway bends with Lane keep assist. Why is Matt deliberately driving like an octogenarian at 9:22 ("Driving Miss Daisy" impersonation) ?

You'll be surprised to know that the i20 in India is much better than that of the UK i20. How you may ask?, Here are the reasons :
    1. Better fit and finish (look at the review of Indian i20 and check out its interior)
    2. Many engine options :
    • 1.2L petrol (4 cylinder)
    • 1.5L diesel (4 cylinder)
    • 1.0 L turbo (which produces 118bhp of power and 172 Nm of torque, the UK counterpart as per this video, only produces 100bhp of power)
    3. Many transmission options :
    1. Manual
    2. IMT
    3. DCT automatic
    4. Many free colour options
Seems like Hyundai is upset with Britishers calling them "Hayundai".

There is a bit of Seat to the external design and I agree the rear is a mess. As with so many new cars, the dashboard design leaves a lot to be desired. Consolidating controls in to a touch screen has left designers with acres of blank dash. Personally, I think the traditional design with switches, dials and knobs looks far better, is easier to use and safer when on the move.
