    I'm so grateful that I get to occasionally work with brands I actually like to create sponsored videos. Their direct support helps keep this channel afloat in the ever unstable world of TH-cam ad revenue. These videos will always be disclosed, of course, and I appreciate everyone's kind support for these partnerships. Royalty Soaps also participates in commission or discount affiliations, like Amazon or RewardStyle, as these opportunities become available, like Amazon and RewardStyle and while the money we make with these links isn't much, every little bit counts and once again, we really appreciate your support! These products will always be marked and disclosed with a "✦".

      Yeah, I've gotten fragrances I like, so I'm going pretty off script myself! 😂 but then again, I'm using the fragrances I have because I originally bought them for a family craft club my sister and mom and I do. We wanted to make bath and beauty crafts like bath bombs and melt and pour soap, but covid kinda threw that plan out the window so I'm just making cp soap with the fragrances and gifting the bars to friends and family, but them especially. These fragrances have a shelf life and I don't intend on wasting them!

    Katie, I'm honestly upset about how good this series is with the detailed instructions and options within them because now nothing is stopping me from starting soap making! Darn it, I have too many crafts at home already...
    But could you also do a mini series like this where you do just melt and pour designs and tell us about all the ins and outs of melt and pour and preferences of types and brands?

      You can start without colors and fragrance. A really good idea is to try small (5-8oz) batches to start. That way you aren’t wasting supplies if you don’t like it. It also allows you to play more with additives without wasting supplies. When doing small batches (or when you first start) it’s a good idea to whisk them so you can see (and feel) every step from emulsion to thick trace. Have fun!

    It's amazing you are doing this!!!!! I think a lot of people would love to start making soap. Not so much for profit, but in my case, I wood love to be able to do it as a stress reliever and something really really cool to make for my loved ones. Believe it or not there's not a serious like this on TH-cam and I absolutely love that you are taking the time to explain everything so intermediately. I swear, a couple years ago I had asked a soap maker on this platform if there was a series like this. A series that literally broke down everything in the beginning, broke down the products, the tools, the lingo, recipes, safeties and Hazards, everything and then helped you through the process. And of course, there wasn't. On top of the fact I can't think of a better person to give classes on soap making. Absolutely love your personality. It's like sitting down with an old friend you've known forever! Please keep the series going it's amazing!

    • @TricksterModeEngaged
      @TricksterModeEngaged 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I make mine and use it the same day. If you're using part water and part ice it doesn't usually take too long to get to a room temp clear solution that's ready for soap. Sometimes I'll mix my lye and measure out my oils before making dinner and then go back to making the soap after we're done eating.

    • @mysticmaidensoaps2960

      Either way is fine. Depending on what’s going on I do either one. I have fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis in my lower back and there are days I get everything ready and my body says “no ma’am” and it all goes on hold until the next day. Then there are designs where I need my solution to be a lower temp and I’ll leave it overnight. Just make sure your container is marked as “DONT TOUCH! LYE SOLUTION!!” And is covered with a secure lid.

    Best helpful hint for doing layers (which I discovered making rainbow soaps) - liberally spray the top of the layer you’ve poured, then go off to get the next colour ready. The alcohol helps to form a ‘skin’ on the top of the soap - making it easier to add the next layer. You still have to be gentle but I’ve found it made doing layers much easier. Love you Katie!! ❤️❤️❤️

    Katie, I'm loving the tutorial series but I have a concern. For the upgraded versions, you allocate two full ounces of FO for a 37 ounces of oils batch. The FOs you recommend have a 5% maximum usage rate, 2 ounces is greater than 5%. Is there a different way you're doing the calculation to arrive at 2 ounces being a safe amount (maybe I'm missing something!) Maybe it is fully safe, but based on the FO calculators, it seems as if it's not? Can you clarify this? Thank you!

    Please do a 'science of soap' video! This would make a great chemistry or biology project. I could get the students to do the weighing, temps, calculations, etc. For chemistry, I would focus on lab practices & math. For biology, I would focus on the fat macromolecules, the hydrophilic/hydrophobic ends, and handwashing. They love to get suited up in lab aprons & goggles, and the end product is great for getting feminine students interested in science. What's missing in your suite is an explanation about saponification. For bonus, explain how the individual oils matter, how fragrance oil interacts with the process, and what a 'mica' is.

      Re Clinger I have done this in the past with my 8th grade students as the closing activity for our chemistry unit. My kids LOVE it and it’s a great hands-on activity!

    The soap leaves glitter/mica on your hands, yes? Or is this just decorative soap? Either way, I'm all in. Just purchased every Royal Upgrade supply!!!

    She is so amazing. After learning from Royalty soaps, I made my first bar and my own company! Thanks so much for all you do to pay it forward! Living with anxiety, I didn't think I could work with lye and feel safe, but she makes me feel so safe as long as I was careful, wearing safe gear, and thinking safely during the whole process!
