Thanks for watching this video. We shot this a couple of weeks ago when we went to Shanghai. As I mention in the video the situation is constantly changing and as most of you will know this weekend there were some new cases here in Beijing. We will not be travelling again for a while now, but keep watching for more updates.

As an Aussie former expat in China for 6 years until last year, I really enjoyed your video. I travelled a lot on the high speed trains when I was there, and they certainly are exactly as you described. I visited Shanghai only twice, but thoroughly enjoyed the city - and the fine weather I experienced there! Hope you can get back there again soon, but meanwhile, stay safe!

@Sugarfoot 007 I am a Chinese and don't quite understand why people always talk about westerners and easterners. How is it different than saying your are Black and I am Asian? To me, this oversimplification of classifying people based on demographic factors contributes a lot to the chaotic world of right now. I personally favor the "color blind" policy adopted by French government that tries to remove racial issues from public disclosure.

Nowadays if you have one of the Chinese phones like Huawei, you can actually get a NFC transportation card that works in hundreds of cities, could save you some trouble buying those subway tickets. It's usually located in the phone manufacturer's apps, such as Huawei Wallet, and probably in Chinese. But once you are done setting it up, you just scan your phone like you scan a card, no need to unlock or anything.
Not many people know this since I see many people using scanning those QR codes which are much less convenient.

Oh no you guys met the rainy season 梅雨季节 in Shanghai. Every year before high summer hits there is this extremely humid rainy season which lasts for about 3 weeks. It's the case for the entire southern China (geographical dividing line Qin Range and Huai River 秦岭 - 淮河) only that the further to the south the earlier this season starts in a particular year.
I hope you guys are doing OK going back to Beijing for there is a recent mini outbreak there.

I'm flying from Hangzhou to Guangzhou on Sunday and I'm kind of nervous about the prep needed for the flight since it seems a bit more intensive than taking the train. I should be able to get there with more than enough time to spare if there are any problems though. In Hangzhou, we still have to show the health code to use public transit but most places have stopped requiring it for entry. I did go to Starbucks earlier and they were checking the health code and taking temperature but I think that was an added precaution since Beijing has had a spike in cases.
