    Thanks for all your comments guys! I am glad you enjoyed the video.
    Based on your feedback, I have changed the title, as suggested. We put a lot of work into this video and I would like the title to reflect the true nature and intentions of this video. That is, to show how lucky we were to experience a beautiful part of the world through the eyes of a local, which is hard in a big city where everybody is living busy lives.
    This is true in every country I have visited, and why I recommend that you, too, try to slow down and soak in your surroundings. Coming to a village like this allows you to chill out, switch off your phone, and connect with people in a meaningful way.
    Thanks again for all your feedback, and I will see you in the next one!

      Thanks Nico for changing the title but whatever happen to my comment where I know I was the first one who was against you using the words 'REAL CHINA' as most Chinese have already moved to urban areas and this idyllic village life is quite alien to them. Imagine you living your whole life in modern China with subway commuting and traffic jam, surviving the rat race and working hard with laptops and smart phones in order to make a living and then SUDDENLY you have been told it is all FAKE, the REAL CHINA is YeYe living in a peaceful quiet life in rural China (which unfortunately is fast disappearing)- Well it sure looks real to them.

    • @Nicofilms
      @Nicofilms  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bldomain Your comment should still be there I don't delete comments on my channel unless they are abusive or racist. As I say in the pinned comment I think the title was misunderstood. Just because I called this area the 'Real China' doesn't mean I called everywhere else 'fake'. It is hard for me as a foreigner living in a city to spend time getting to know people, for all the reasons you mentioned such as the rat race, busy life etc. Where as here I got to spend some quality time making some real connections.

      Some chinese are just sensitive about this kind of things. We want people to understand that China has developed so much and has many fantastic modern cities. But as a chinese, I'm impressed by this beautiful village too. It's not shabby or poor, but orgnised so well. The buildings are beautiful and well maintained and very chinese. I'd like it be called "the real China". In fact, I think there are many pretty villages in China, maybe not as authentic as the one in the video. My parents often drive and tour villages around our town on weekends. They always tell me that those villages are pretty good but I never go with them. I was just not intereted. But now I understand.

    as a first grader in New York back in 1980 I found myself talking out books with pictures of ancient China. I think I found them so different that even at that young age I was drawn to china...I then used to watch the karate movies made in the 60s and 70s and depicting the old Chinese dynasties that were on TV back in the early 80s in New York...I wasn't drawn to the fights I was drawn to the scenery of ancient china...I then became a history teacher and studied alot about China in college. I left teaching to open a business which I ran for 17 years...now I find myself in my 40s watching videos on China every night before I fall asleep.. I am half italian(catholic) half Russian (jew) ...so no Chinese in my background....something about the villages in China just have drawn me in since 1st grade in queens New york...

    It is 石堰坪村,ShiYanPingCun location (29.04456, 110.88751 on Google earth)
    This is real true rural life in China, with its simple and honest folkway.
    Many Western media and politicians often demonize Mao Zedong, but in China, many many common people (especially these from their families were in poverty before 1949) adore and love him as a great man, a great leader. You can find this from Mao's portrayal in this video.

    Well I would friendly challenge Nico on the title. The other places you've are equally authentic than this village. The real China is the China that you encounter everyday. @brianthart6921 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, authentic does not mean real, it means going back to one's roots and includes heritage. Also, you'll note that many modern areas in China are more reflective of a globalising world, just the same as other modern cities around the world. If you really want to understand any countries culture, it is good to go back to more rural areas. Does Shanghai reflect Chinese culture? Of course, it does, but it's also infused with massive global influences which make it less 'authentic'. One authentic food from Shanghai is xiaolongbao - Oh wait, why is it authentic? Isn't modern food authentic? The reason it's authentic is because it's been the food of Shanghai for hundreds of years.

    Thank you for your video, I am from Guangxi. The village in your video is a very common village in southwest China including Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, and Sichuan. 80% of the plantation is paddy field. Tradition houses are made from wood or bamboo just like in your video. Since these villages are in rural areas, life is not quite as colorful and excited as in the cities. So young people usually move to the cities for a better life (higher income). Thank you again for showing the truth about China and you can't see any of these in mainstream media in the west.

    Wow! This is my grandma’s life, I will stay with her at least half month every summer. Really enjoy the countryside lifestyle, so relax and peaceful!
    Everyday’s job: pick up eggs and goose eggs, feed animals(dog🐶,cat🐱, chicken🐔, sheep🐑, goose🦢, pig🐖), play with dogs, stroll in the fields and random pick something to eat(tomato, cucumber and fruits my grandma planted that year), take some fresh vegetables for meals, working on vegetables again, learn cooking and make sauerkraut from grandma, sometime play majiang🀄️ with neighbors, be lazy and lie up...... Hope I can still live as that when I am old😁

    My grandpa's from Henan. Super humble, super hard-working guy as well! Always well-liked. Seems like people from that area are all such good souls!
    He's also super open-minded about foreign ideas, which is an AWESOME trait for one that lives such a conservative lifestyle.

    This felt like it straight out from a fairytale story, the lush scenery and the fresh air , an ideal getaway from city folks. Grandpa is so cute with his tongue sticking out pose, how he is still so fit for his age must be due to the fresh untainted food n clean environment that he lives in

    Cool, Nico you’re so great... you even show there beautiful stuff to the Chinese who haven’t been to this kind of places before...like me....China is so huge and has different aspects and culture. The people living in the cities should watch this and help protect there local culture together

      Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you, yes I totally agree there are so many different elements to China that is what makes it so wonderful. I just loved the slower pace of life here, everyone was so happy to connect and engage with us even though our Chinese is limited and you don't find those real connections as often in big cities as everyone is so busy.

    It's interesting you chose your website's name as 'Laojiao'. It is a Hokkien dialect term when translated it literally means '老鳥 or Old Bird' which is used to describe someone who is very seasoned or experienced

  • @wayne0316
    @wayne0316 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Laojia literally means Old Home but can be more accurately translated to Hometown, that’s how we refer to hometown in Chinese. Like Guojia literally means Nation Home but translates to Country. As you can figure out by now, the character 家 Jia means home.

    很漂亮的小村庄! 感觉也很像我的老家,我小时候生长的地方。 在中国有很多 这样的村庄!但是现在留在农村里的大都是老人和孩子。 年轻人都去城市里工作了。 离得近的可以每个月回来家,离得远的可能一年就只回来老家一两次了。 今年我回去老家看我的爸爸,感觉家里好平静,安详。

    The reason you see most locals are 60+ is migration workers. Almost all young villagers will go to big cities for school reasons and job opportunities.
    Similarly in Japan the elderly are left behind to stay in their ancestral homes while the younger generation will move to Tokyo, Osaka and bigger cities.

    I love the wok. It’s sturdy stable and last for decades like the iron skillet. Most traditional Chinese, even those live in overseas prefer this kind of wok. You can cook small and large quantity of food. Unfortunately modren kitchen stoves is higher made for shallow skillet. One must have a custom made stove for that traditional wok
