I disagree… you should be subtly asking her with different gestures leading up to kiss, and she should be saying yes with other body language. If done correctly this will never end awkward… asking permission takes literally all of the romance and spontaneity out of the moment. And you would lose all respect in her eyes. That communication helped reassure me that I wouldn't be overstepping. So when I was ready, I asked her "can I kiss you?" and we kissed. Neither of us felt awkward about it. Perfect first kiss, very enjoyable for both parties. It felt like she was teaching me how to skate, leading me by the hand. Tell me that asking for consent is awkward, and I'll ask you. A beautiful woman that you love is asking, "can I kiss you?" Is that awkward? It feels amazing when she asks me that exact question.

I disagree… you should be subtly asking her with different gestures leading up to kiss, and she should be saying yes with other body language. If done correctly this will never end awkward… asking permission takes literally all of the romance and spontaneity out of the moment. And you would lose all respect in her eyes. In my experience, I’ve never asked a girl for a kiss, but I have been rejected a few times (nothing negative, she wasn’t ready at that very moment) Women do usually give you consent with their body language, it’s about what they say and do. But, asking is okay too except it may turn some women off as women tend to prefer more assertive men on average.

Or going to formal event with extremely casual clothes.
