Were Dreamcast sales really that low in Japan? Because the Saturn was IMMENSELY POPULAR over there (even moreso than the PS1 and N64, I believe). From what I always understood, the Dreamcast actually had a remarkably strong start compared to past Sega consoles. It’s just the massive incompetence at Sega’s Japan HQ caused them to somehow MAKE ALMOST ZERO PROFIT despite selling 40-50+ Genesis consoles previously and then the Sega CD, 32X, and Saturn were ALL ultimately duds in terms of sales. So despite the Dreamcast coming out SWINGING, they simply DIDN’T have the financial strength to support it beyond the short-term 18-24 month (or whatever) lifespan it had.

I’ve owned the series x after buying the ps5 and I sold the Xbox after a year. No games, performance issues on some 3rd party games and just no enthusiasm other than gamepass. This company has shit the bed so hard that I just can’t support them anymore. Sony has been on fire as usual and with ps vr 2 dropping this week, I can’t believe that Xbox has fallen this far from grace. Halo infinite and the garbage that was, truly was the final nail in the coffin for me.
So many people said that the PS5 and the Playstation brand was dead in Japan thanks to the restructuring of Japan Studio and Sony moving headquarters to California. I’ve owned the series x after buying the ps5 and I sold the Xbox after a year. No games, performance issues on some 3rd party games and just no enthusiasm other than gamepass. This company has shit the bed so hard that I just can’t support them anymore. Sony has been on fire as usual and with ps vr 2 dropping this week, I can’t believe that Xbox has fallen this far from grace. Halo infinite and the garbage that was, truly was the final nail in the coffin for me.
They can only appeal to themselves, not to others, its not in there dna.
Phil had Xbot ambassadors and influencers go on an unprecedented FUD campaign and PS5 is outselling Series X/S worse than PS4 did Xbox One.
So many people said that the PS5 and the Playstation brand was dead in Japan thanks to the restructuring of Japan Studio and Sony moving headquarters to California. Not gonna lie, all this stuff was hard to sit through during the 1st 2 years of the PS5, especially with influencers claiming that "Japan was done with Playstation and moving on to mobile games and Nintendo for the foreseeable future".
I have to agree he's been a poor leader.
I guess that 3/4 of their console sales is from the weak ass “S”. Terrible decision to not make their digital version equal to the Disc. Also putting Day AAA games Day & Date in Gamepass is just plain stupid!!!
