Love it - it’s one of my regular rides up around behind the reservoir- 7:20 on the vid , go right onto the main road and follow paths on the right hand side - a real wonderland of trails and fire roads up there -the ones you descended towards the end - you can link in with Afan too if you head through the golf course in Bryn👍
You're lucky. Such a good place and so detached up there. Feels like somewhere hidden in Central Europe or something. Thanks for that. I'll pin your comment as that might be useful. I'd like to go there one day with the bike completely unloaded other than a small bag for basic tools and a water bottle.
Some lovely landscape and industrial heritage on this route, even if a bit wet in parts. I must say I like your camera work and the focusing in on the minutiae and detail of the almost ‘invisible things’ that are often overlooked is really interesting. That bike of yours is still looking good as well👍
Awesome I enjoyed that.. I never knew that bike route upto Bryn existed. I will have to give a that go. Love riding in Margam so much amazing wildlife running around in there. 😎👍
Thanks ☺️ me neither until a few weeks ago. I think it’s less obvious compared to the Richard Burton trail in the next valley. Yeah, stunning forest. I was really impressed.
Glad you took my idea up, sand the cut edge for a finer finish, it’s surprising what’s on the doorstep, hopefully the tunnel between the Rhondda and Afan Valley will open, you had some nice weather for the ride 👍
Thanks ☺️ I did file the edge and then wet and dry so it’s nice and smooth. It was a bit rushed though so not perfect but does the job. Yes really hope they get to finish the tunnel. Ownership has transferred. I think we’re some years off yet but they’re sticking with it. Thanks again 🚴🏻♀️
A lovely autumnal ride, thanks for sharing ♥ industrial archaeology Chop up and bag your veg at home ? +24:50 christ, I thought that was a lion cub, for a moment 😂 The Port Talbot & Docks railway had to purchased especially powerful locos to cope with the gradients when bring the heavy coal trains out. (An interesting rabbit hole)
Haha, I know. When I was editing I thought exactly the same thing. "A lion, a lion, a... oh it's a cow" 😄 Yeah I could chop up at home, I'm always in two minds, partly to avoid drying out and partly as it makes something nice to film, but it does mean carrying more stuff that all adds to the weight. I'm learning as I go. That's really interesting, I didn't know that. I did read up a bit on some of the history but found it difficult to find exactly details on some of the trains that used the line. Such an incredible climb (and descent of course). Must have been quite a sight. I only found a photo of the old Bryn Station but not much else.
Great as always Madison. As usual, I loved the piano playing towards the end, a really nice tune and well played. - You have a real talent there! 👍 Those deer at the very end were a treat - I expect you were wary of moving in case they ran off! 😊
Thanks, Jeff! The deer and stag were both a surprise for me. I didn't know we had deer in South Wales and was always curious whether we did when thinking about the risk of ticks. I had to move a little with the stag just to get him to move off but without going down and disturbing him as he just stood there for ages looking. Must have been ten minutes. ☺️🦌
@@MadisonTen Ahh... we're quite lucky living just north of Monmouth, in that there are often deer in the woods nearby. But as you found, the slightest movement or sound can spook them and off they go. I had one last year, who leapt out in front of me while riding the Brompton home on a test ride - they can be quite big! We also get smaller Muntjac deer occasionally, in the back garden - I'm very lucky living here!😁
@@MadisonTen Yeah it was. It seemed to just emerge out of the hedge on one side of the lane and bolted into the hedge on the other side! I've also had them run out in front of the car - quite an event when it happens!
nice one! another really chilled ride video in a lovely area, thanks - the autumn colours look gorgeous and the route is another one that 'inspires' me to get the bike on the train and try out some of these Welsh trails - when the weather is good they look really nice! Cant help but think though that it would be nice to hear your thoughts and comments/narration on these routes, be good to capture your thoughts and feelings as you did these rides - anyway thanks again for another chilled ride video and good vibes :)
Thanks very much and for the idea. I have thought about it before, I partially didn’t want to break the format and end up just like other channels, that said I did have an idea last week that might have been a half way thing but not sure if I’ll do it, which was similar to what you mentioned. I don’t have the microphone for that kind of thing though. Never say never… ☺️📣
@@MadisonTen I came back to watch the end of the video and tbh, your format works really well and does set your content apart from others...but like you said, perhaps a half way through thing or when you hit an obstacle like the closed off train tunnel! the rice and chicken looked like a top way to finish off this adventure! cheers
Hi Sheila, no I didn’t camp out. I packed up and cycled down to the next valley and caught a train home. It would have been nice to camp by the reservoir may be.
Hi, no I don’t use Komoot. A few people have mentioned it but I don’t know much about it. I tend to just look around google maps with cycle trails turned on, decide where I want to go based on what type of ride I want and what I want to see and then just cycle.
@@MadisonTen You should try it. I was skeptical at first, but it opens up a wealth of new routes and the option to share the routes you ride. I get it though, sometimes it's just nice to follow your own path 👍
Yes a bit wet, I think we'd had quite a bit of rain the night before but thankfully avoided getting too muddy. Ah so you'll know the area better than me. So amazing that a few minutes from Port Talbot and you're into some amazing countryside. Hope you manage to get another bike one day 🚴🏻♀️

Thanks so much! 🙏Yes l do like pine forests in the autumn. Very special. My bike turned 5 years old this August, I should have celebrated 🙄☺️🚴🏻♀️
After watching your video for just 5 minutes, I have noticed that you have that pathway all to yourself. What a difference a few weeks makes. ❤
Yes, it's amazing. Autumn / winter cycling is a totally different feeling. Quite special!
Nice one. I would have needed oxygen after pushing up those hills! Lovely autumn colours. Thans for sharing your videos, as always.
Oxygen would have been nice! ☺️ Yes, such a nice time of year for riding. Thanks, Mike!

What a epic ride well done and beautiful filming as always
Thanks, Keith! 🚴🏻♀️☺️
Thanks for the vlog. A fairly epic ride really in some great countryside. Tiring in places but the downhills looked good fun.
Yes, quite a challenging place for someone like me. Thanks! ☺️🚴🏻♀️

Wow! I bet that was quite a shock. Not something you expect to just jump out like that at the time! Yes you have a fab part of the country there.

Ta! ☺️🚴🏻♀️ Good to see you Friday 😄
You realy do think up some great routes, that was a nice ride out thankyou.
Thanks, Simon! ☺️ Hope you're good.
Oh good, this is on my list to do, even more so now I can see the route thank you :)
Brill! Hope you manage to get to it soon!
I love watching your videos they always make me want to get out on my bike👍
Thanks, Nicky! That's so nice to hear. It's a nice time to get out. Hope you get a ride soon.

Well up to your normal standard but I must ask Did you camp out? Or am I missing something?
Hi Sheila, no I didn’t camp out. I packed up and cycled down to the next valley and caught a train home. It would have been nice to camp by the reservoir may be.
Nice route, do you use komoot to plan?

Nice. Path a bit wet in places - obviously not maintained. I live near here and kinda wish I hadn't sold my MTB now. 😢
