i feel like we were all screaming “NO MACENNA NO NO NO YOU WON’T LIKE IT” with the silver hardware😂 But sometimes you have to try something one way in a diy to confirm that it’s not the move. I love that you didn’t cut that part out and that you still shared that. Never get discouraged when the direction you originally go for is not what you thought it would be. Regrouping in projects happens allllll the time and you are one of the few people that shows that!
With the darker cabinets and toned down walls, I don't feel like the tile counters and brick floor are competing with each other anymore. Well done!

I always like the idea of adding a hinged counter top extension to the end of a counte. Then if you need extra prep space you can pull it up.
My nervous system was so overloaded with 1st day of preschool and toddler birthday planning/prepping, this video was a dose of much needed calm, it was medicinal, thank you for sharing Macenna.

My dog passed away a week ago now and I've been putting off watching your videos because he looked very similar to Kinsley and I was afraid of how it would feel. Seeing her makes me miss him even more but it also feels very nice watching her do a lot of the same things my Charlie would do, whether it was just rubbing along the carpet or jumping up on my leg to get some love and attention. Thank you for giving me something that could remind me of the good times again

The way the light highlights the linen texture shining through the fabric 🤤 and the flowers above the sink! So pretty! Love the teapot too!!
The cabinets and wall color blends everything together more and definitely changed the vibe of the kitchen! I think the fruit picture you had originally would fit better with the old painting than that small picture you put on top. Love how Kinsley reacts to rugs, so cute!

I LOVE this !! The room is perfect and I cannot imagine changing a single thing ! The moody cabinet color and the wall paint color are just the touch that whole room needed, It even makes the backsplash and countertops look so good !! I WISH you could come do my sad and outdated home, My health prevents me from doing the labor myself and the budget doesn't allow for many changes. Those vintage door handles turned out beautifully .....who would have thought all that dirt and grime would come off and become the perfect accents. Another wonderful MaCenna room, I KNEW you would do just what the house needed. Have wonderful week....looking forward to ALL THE THINGS to come. !!

Turned out better than I was anticipating! The sculpture clay looks so much better in your kitchen than mine! It was too gray leaning, but in a bedroom was perfect! Funny how the light will make you not like a color! Great job. Looks fabulous and so much more homey than the 30 shades of white. Love the curtains too!
I really love the changes. The dark cabinets, brass hardware, cafe curtains and paint have turned it into a warm and welcoming kitchen. Congratulations on another beautiful makeover. 😊
MaCenna, We remodeled our kitchen in our first home about 40 years ago. I purchased the exact handles you are using now! I even had matching light switch covers. The kitchen is looking so much better! Love the colors!
Tea kettle is what you boil water in. Teapot is where you steep tea.

The paint helped to make the purple undertone stand out. Before the cabinets were looking more brown than abergine. Everything came out absolutely beautiful.

Beautiful! I’ve been thinking lately about how home is both a feeling and a place. And how it reflects our past as well as our current place in life. Both you and Drew over at Lone Fox are doing such a lovely job of “channeling” what you love about where you came from to create your present home. The kitchen is so reminiscent of a Louisiana home. Nicely done. 😊

I loved that as well and really love that bench on that end... ties in with cutting boards at other end! Think is perfect for that location flowers herbs but that particular arrangement looked fabulous! Great job as always!

I love the new color scheme, very warm and moody. My cabinets were refinished by the previous owner, it’s an antique white in an eggshell finish. Almost no shine and still washable, I’m glad they chose it.
SO WELL DONE. Warming up the walls made a bigger impact than I had originally thought it would!! And the counter top/back splash just blends right in now, where before it was more of a statement against the white.
This turned out so good, it feels so warm and inviting.☕🌼

We all choose what makes us happy. Brass pulls are beautiful. However, I’ll be honest, the color of your cabinets looked better before. I know you’ll eventually change the entire kitchen.

I’m gonna be honest, I have only been watching your videos to see that adorable puppy following you around and trying to get your attention. He just reminds me of my pup who passed recently 😢 but it brings me joy to see him so lovingly cherishing your attention. If you made a channel featuring your dog I would totally watch it to see how adorable he is playing and enjoying life. I’m a bit sad not seeing you stopping to play with your pup, but I’m sure you do that between filming because who could resist!
This was worth the wait McCenna, your kitchen absolutely is absolutely gorgeous! I wanted to let you know about a channel I randomly found the other day, called Let’s Resin! The video is a few years old but in it the woman was making a circular table with resin and fake flowers. I don’t know how to link the video, but it was just gorgeous. Your nesting tables popped into my head immediately. The table has a black background with maroon swirls. It’s very dark and moody like the painting on your kitchen wall. I know how you love options, so I thought I’d just let you know in case. ☺️

Not gonna lie I feel like the teapot sticks out like a sore thumb (I guess it looks to shiney and new)but the rest goes nicely together!

The curtains really add warmth to your kitchen.
I love the kitchen and the colour BUT I would repaint the cabinets with less sheen. You won’t dirty them that much before you do a kitchen remodel. The shine shows everything.
Put a clear rubber bumper on the wall where the fridge hits and it’ll protect the paint. The same kind of thing you put on the backs of picture frames to get them to hang straight.
The shot where you put the curtains filmed on the outside just made me smile 🥰

Great Kitchen Makeover. That tea kettle sure draws your attention - so pretty, the perfect finishing touch for a fabulous budget-friendly makeover. I'm in the process of freshening up a budget makeover from ten years ago - like yours will, it stood the test of time, but now I'm ready to tweak it a bit since we had to change out the lighting. My style is similar to yours but there will be stencils involved and a small tile backsplash for the stove area. You have me rethinking my color choices now...:) but I'm with you I prefer vintage gold/brass. We like what we like.
I really don’t like the shiny purply black cupboards. It doesn’t read French to me. I liked it better a light color. It’s too gloomy and dark now for a small kitchen. When you were moving up the white at the beginning of the video I thought you were putting it back!😢
I only just discovered your vlog earlier this morning and am currently binge watching to catch up. I am so impressed by how boldly you are willing to go regarding colour! I would never have had the intestinal fortitude to go dark on the cabinets but it works beautifully. The space is warm and inviting now. Plus, you are so willing to bang nails into walls to hang the art and cutting boards! I am so hesitant to do so and it always works for you so you have inspired me! Suggestion: why not acquire a thinner sort of cutting board to put behind your refrigerator door to prevent impact with your wall? Possibly a thinner cheese board? But … what a good idea. Actually ALL OF YOUR IDEAS ARE GOOD. I am lining up the next vlog on the list. I enjoy both your ideas and your vivacious personality.

Huge transformation 😍 Would love to see a panel added to enclose fridge painted out to match cabinets just to finish off the side fridge view. Would be so sweet to have that space to hang a little art peice.
NGL I'm glad it is a temporary kitchen fix as I don't really like it. I don't like the shiny finish on the cabinets and I don't think it looks at all French. It's not my house though and as long as MaCenna likes it that's all that matters.

Hi Macenna. Your kitchen looks so lovely. The light coming thru the windows onto the cabinets is gorgeous. I just read the comment about the resin for your round tabletops. There is also a channel called Sheri Vegas that has done a lovely moody floral resin tabletop. She uses dried flowers. She shows how to dry the flowers and then how to pour the different layers to give a beautiful 3D effect.
I’m a grandma. When I was a little girl, my mom and grandma always had cafe curtains. I loved them then and I love them still. Beautiful kitchen.

I’m so confused … the kitchen cabinets are brown and blue? 😮 I mean this in the kindest way … at the end of the day it’s Macenna’s kitchen so what ever makes her happy …. But I don’t like the makeover. I feel Macenna style is not evolving … I feel she is stuck to the same styling from 4 years ago … and the styling looks cheap . Sorry . 😞
I found the exact hand pulls at a thrift store that are solid and vintage. Needed some scrubbing for sure. Put them on my dresser and they elevated it so quickly
