"Yes" to adding glass doors to your gorgeous cabinet! "Yes Yes Yes" to finding some vintage wavy glass to use! And "yes" to finding a beautifully ornate topper! You are so incredibly talented, MaCenna. And so extremely inspirational.
Yes to Drew decorating the guest bedroom ! Just watched your video with the landlord earlier. Brought tears to my eyes. . You have the best aesthetic & you guys are my fave ever ! 🥰
I would always recommend doors, just simply so you don’t have to dust as much lol And I agree with a varnish or a finishing wax on the cabinet would finish it off nicely!
Doors: YES (especially watching that open flame next to your towels 🫣) haha. Topper: YES 🙌 Also, would you consider adding a glossy varnish to the cabinet? The flatness of the current stain is making it feel a little unfinished. But it’s still so amazing and I can’t believe (but not surprised) you made that yourself!
I agree with you completely Danielle, a nice glossy varnish with the topper & glass door would send your hutch so far over the top, it would be absolutely amazing!! I also think adding some greenery would be just one more added plus!! You are amazing we’ll really beyond amazing, I can’t for all the episodes to come!! XOXO 👏🌸💗💗💗💗
Surprised I don’t see more people mentioning this, yes, I think a glossy finish would make it look more antique and finished and would even out some of the different undertones of the wood that are showing through. Loved the video and such an amazing job on the cabinet, it looks amazing!
That is exactly what that cabinet needs. A glossy finish!! Something felt off, but I figured doors and topper would finish it, but I agree, a gloss to that bad boy…. *chefs kiss*

You appsolutely described how much we have all been so looking forward to this bathroom reveal..such a beautiful bathroom so fitting to the 100 yr old traditional cottage,s look..with a few new and antique items and beautiful cabinets and vanity..and that gorgeous roll top bath ..evdn those cute bird pictures such a lovely room, exerlent !!
Yes to the doors & the toppers! I wish you’d trade the woven basket on the bottom right shelf out with an antique tray. I actually like seeing the bottles and that basket seems overpowering and covers too much of the bird picture IMO
Here is a tip: Stain all your wood first before putting together your project. I was looking at my hutch from the 1970's. It was my parents and they bought it used. Its built really well. Stain first your wood. Then you can assemble it all together and save yourself the extra work. Plus, I would add a finisher to your wood to protect it from the elements in the bathroom. I know it won't be used as much. Wood, is funny sometimes and can easily get chipped or get water stains on it. Just a few tips that came to my mind that I want to share with you. Beautiful bathroom. Yes to the topper for sure!!! :)
This almost made me emotional! The atmosphere in this bathroom is giving me a sense of peace and familiarity that comes from my grandparents’ house in Italy. I love seeing how all of your vision came to life so beautifully MaCenna! I would say yes for doors and topper! 😍😍😍
This bathroom makeover has been such a beautiful journey to watch. Gosh, I remember when you demoed the kitchen cabinets all by yourself. Thank you for sharing MaCenna! 🤎
Macenna, I’m probably very late to this and you are unlikely going to see this. I have spent EVERY free minute of the last 3 days binge-watching your entire renovation series. Girl, YOU ARE A BOSS. Congratulations for taking this on, acing it and this wonderful space you are creating. I am now caught up and following this along in real time. I wish I would have seen vlogs from the whole year too but that’s too many videos hehe. Absolutely amazing. 💕💕💕💕
When you’re ready to add plants I think you’d love: Satin pothos (trailing plaint, super easy to care for) would be cute on top of cabinet. Rubber plant (grows tall and skinny, super easy. Stem turns into a branch at one point and rich tones) My favorite, a tiny Angel wing begonia (grows tall slowly, has pink hues sometimes. Easy to keep the size you want with pruning. But is a tropical plant so it will thrive in a humid bathroom. Liked warmth and frequent waters 2 times a week is enough but will get mad if not watered hehe) All do great in ceramic pots! 💕
I wanted her to put a plant on the window sill, or hanging infront of the window, in the corner near the towels. Or, a standing plant next to the tub behind the stool 😌
Yes, a topper would look beautiful! I think the glass doors would really bring the vintage look to it. You’ve done such a great job on everything you’ve completed. I’m so excited to see what you have in store for the other rooms. Thank you for being so giving of yourself.
I’m in love with your handmade cafe curtains. The Peacock design in the perfect luxury symbol for the space with all the detail designs you have implemented! The colors of the flowers are a perfect compliment to the Tudor Brown also. I vote for adding the top adornment to your artisan cabinet piece, and although it looks stylish without the doors added on, I think it would be a beautiful finishing touch, and would match more closely your overall design. I love it MaCenna! Your ability to conquer the labor intensive projects is impressive, and your eye for design and your talent in putting things together in an era-correct manner is something you can’t learn in school and pull off appropriately without that innate, intuitive more spirit based quality I guess. I’m amazed to see it all come together, but not surprised.
I honestly feel emotional seeing everything come together. I’ve been watching since you bought the house and its so beautiful and amazing. You’re doing such a stunning job! Design is basically my whole life, I’m going to school for it and I just got my dream job designing custom cabinetry. You are such an inspiration to me and I can not wait to see everything else you will accomplish ❤️
Yes to topper and glass! That hutch creation was incredible!! I feel like the oatmeal curtains would fit better though because the pattern takes attention away from the beautiful penny tile!
I don’t know why but I’m actually tearing up at the end of this video. You’ve come so far and your design skills have developed so beautifully. I’m currently renovating my bathroom (which is significantly smaller than this one), but you’re always in my thoughts as I pick out every detail. I hope it turns out as beautiful as your bathroom! 🥰
You have come such a long way with your DIY skills! That cabinet is so beautiful and I am so impressed that you built it! YES to the glass doors for sure and YES to the topper. I think the one you currently have fits the scale of the cabinet nicely.
Yes to doors (they’re just practical for keeping dust down but they’ll also be an opportunity to add more detail and hardware!) and yes to the topper (you’re so right and it adds that vintage feel). Looks amazing!
Well, if this is how beautiful and thought-out the guest bathroom is, I guess it's safe to say there will be much much more beautiful details to look forward to in the master bath. I cannot wait. 😍
“Coping is not a skill I am mastering quickly…” Yep, I felt that 😅 right now I’m reeling from a break up, living in the house we own together. And watching you make this house your own is starting to give me ideas and make me feel a little better about living here alone and making it my own. ❤️
I'm sorry you're dealing with something so difficult. The fact that you can start to begin imagining a place that is your own is a great step forward. I wish you luck. You got this!
Literal tears at that reveal. I even got a little misty as you were staining the drawers. The amount of care and effort you put in. The joy you bring to your cottage shows in every room and every tiny moment. Thank you for inspiring us to LIVE in a home with such intention.
I love this room! The curtains are the only thing I would change, I think they steal the spotlight from the pretty pennytile. And they seem a little grandmaish to me, but if you feel like they suit your vision, then absolutely hell yes keep them!
This looks great! If the curtains make you feel joy, keep them. From a design perspective for myself, I think they do tone the room towards "grandma's house" and away from the chic look. Perhaps a linen with black horizontal stripes would modernize it just a little bit. But again, this is my perspective and if the curtains make you feel joyful, by all means keep them.
The topper was soooo pretty!!! Definitely would be a beautiful addition once you find the perfect one! And once you put doors on the cabinet not only will it be beautiful but it will help protect the wood veneer from humidity!
MaCenna, you constantly amaze me! You say, "Oh, I'm going to build my own kitchen cabinets! And I'm going to make my own antique-y bathroom furniture!" and I'm thinking "Isn't that way too ambitious...?"* But you're always completely fearless, and you build up your skills so much with every new project, and the result is always amazing! If ever a bathroom was A MOOD, it's this one! A couple of notes: A few commenters suggested a shinier varnish for the cabinet, but I'm not so sure. I think the matt finish works well with the way the stain came out. I like the rustic moodiness of it! However, I did think the vanity could use more shine to it when you first refinished it, and still do! And definitely look into sealing the gap behind it in some way! Doors are going to be so practical on the cabinet, even though it looks very pretty styled open! I would go with glass! And if you ever want to hide the contents completely, you can line the glass doors with a pretty fabric! Regarding your difficulties with the crown molding, maybe it's the slope in the ceiling that's throwing you off? I can only imagine how that complicates the angles in the corners... it's one reason I'm not even attempting it in my flat (other than that it's also a 70s building with very low ceilings. 😄) Some of the ceilings are sloped and it makes my brain hurt even thinking about having to figure the angles out! *I guess I tend to fear that you're going to be disappointed when it doesn't work out like you imagined, because I recognize some of your perfectionism? I remember when you installed the salvaged bead board and you said something like "I like the imperfect look of old things, but give me a caulking gun and I go crazy!" and I was like "Yeah, that's me, too! Can't turn off the part of my brain that focuses on the small details, sometimes to the detriment of the bigger picture!" It's just that you seem to channel that perfectionism much, much more productively than I do, just tackling things with all that energy and doing the best job that you can, instead of letting yourself get paralysed with fear of failure! You're a genuine role model for me in that way! 😊Thank you for doing what you do!
I hope you save literally everything you sketch for the house and leave it even after you're gone. I'm imagining like 150 years from now someone finding it all
I would love glass doors on that beautiful cabinet you've made. I think it makes it more finished. A topper can also elevate it more. Its surreal how your guest bathroom feels, I've always been into modern design but I really appreciate your house. I'm loving its coziness and how homey it feels. As always, good job Macenna! Looking forward for the other room makeovers. ♥️
That hutch looks so good, and is the perfect addition to the space. I like the idea of glass doors, but I think keeping them simple and square, rather than adding cut out trim details would look best. And I think a cool topper would finish it off perfectly!
I don't know why every time you get closer to completing your vision I want to cry. There's is something so satisfying of watching all the work you've put in to your dream come to fruition. This bathroom is beautiful. The peacock curtains are you and they work.
“If you have made it this far..” but it hasn’t been a long vid… woah, 41 minutes, but it felt like only 15! That’s how amazing the process was! What a beautiful transformation, everything came together so good! Definitely your vision is now a reality 😊
I shouted yes so loudly when you showed us the topper I could’ve sworn you heard me from here and I live in Australia.😁 Definitely yes to glass doors on the cabinet, to keep everything dry and dust free. Also because it will make it look more expensive, ( and give you the chance to you more of your stunning knobs). What a morning, I feel so spoilt. I watched Drew show his landlord everything he and Marie did to his apartment earlier and now I’ve watched you and Romeo transform an old outdated kitchen into a gorgeous bathroom. You work so hard and you’re such an inspiration to so many people. Your videos always make my day. ☺️
Yes yes yes !!!!! This came out amazing! Heck yes to a decorative topper for the cabinet! It will really give it that vintage furniture feel. I am also leaning yes on doors too. Once you live with the bathroom for a little I think the inside will get a little messy and doors (even ones with glass) will give you a bit of coverage.
This bathroom is absolutly gorgeous! Yes to the topper and YES to doors with glass. Also I just love the addition of the stool, youre so right, it does help balance the space!
Yes to the topper!! Also, I love all the stories about every piece that went into the bathroom!!!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I know I’m not the only one who waits for every video!
I’ve been waiting for this and it did not disappoint! Yes to glass doors and topper for the cabinet. I hope to see the crown molding soon.. but no pressure. I’m sure it’s going to be beautiful together with the lights. Congratulations, Macenna!
I can’t wait till your house is featured in a magazine or tv show and we can all say we watched you build it from the ground up! Such a beautiful bathroom!!!
Topper: yes, most definitely. Doors: I wouldn’t but if it’s the look you love than absolutely. Beautiful bathroom! Love your aesthetic. Gentle bear hugs xx
Stunning! You have put together a room that anyone would want to spend time in. Your attention to detail is spot on. So beautiful. Thank you for taking us on this renovation journey with you. So looking forward to watching more of your inspired transformations.
The cabinet, the brassware, the framed art, the mirror and little glass pieces... They all make me want to move back in time to whatever era makes me feel things like this bathroom does.
OMG, I have never in my life seen such a beautiful bathroom. The curtains (I didn’t see the vision originally, but I had faith, lol) came out so lovely. The tile and the CABINET. Just perfection. I say, no doors. I love the towel hanging over. It feels so lived in and cozy. Just divine. Really. I can’t say enough about home much I am in love with this bathroom.
Gorg! obsessed with the curtains, I feel like they just bring everything together! Also yes to the doors and topper, and definitely more stain and a finish!
We've been waiting for this video for so long, and now that it's here, I feel like I'm getting high off it! Everything is so good, just *chef's kiss* Every decision you made was just full of love, care and thought. This makeover is perfectly done. You are so inspiring with evert you've done and taught yourself on this makeover journey! Thank you!
Absolutely breathtaking! Love how unique this whole cottage is turning out to be. All the finishes and designs are so far from run of the mill and full of personality and warmth and old world charm. I love this bathroom already! Cant wait to see those final finishing touches down the line
Ma’am you are living my dreams😊 don’t take your opportunities for granted😄 Woodwork is a skill that I love soo much. I don’t have as many tools and supplies as you do or else I think I’d build a lot more.
I feel like the only missing thing from this video is the excitement from you building an ENTIRE HUTCH!!!! What the heck you did that!!! It and the entire bathroom looks amazing 🎉🎉🎉
Glass doors - yes Topper - yes The bathroom has turned out just amazing! Extremely beautiful and elegant! Can't get enough of looking at it!! Just speechless!!
Definitely YES to the topper, and the doors. What a peaceful looking bathroom. The curtains are so sweet and I love that they were repurposed. Well done guys. Its lovely.👏👏👏
Yes, a topper along with doors / glass inserts would complete the beautiful cabinet that you have built. It is all just gorgeous. It needs to be featured in a magazine.
This is the most beautiful bathroom I've seen, design wise in a good minute. Your eye for design and planning is amazing. It feels new but also vintage and homey all at once. You've done such AMAZING work ❤️ really just well done!!
I can't believe how you are doing all of these renovations from scratch it's amazing really and so fun to watch I don't know what I'm gonna do when you are all done with the place
I love designs that look both traditional and up-to-date. This is the kind of design that will still be gorgeous 10 years from now. I think timeless is the word. Absolutely beautiful!
Love how the bathroom turned out! I am so impressed with how you have tackled all the woodworking skills required to renovate your home. FYI: I saw another DIY show where they used a special crown molding jig with their miter saw to get the correct angle for the cut. Maybe you could try finishing the installation with that jig. Love your channel! ❤
You should use the top of green cabinet with the topper still on and make a sturdy table for a changing table in your bedroom/closet. And when it isn’t a nursery anymore it can just be a nice table for you to use as a makeup vanity.
I feel like we have very different styles, and every time you show something I'm not a huge fan, but once it all comes together it is absolutely beautiful! I've learned not to doubt your picks, it's amazing every time!!
Stunning bathroom, you’ve done an amazing job. I love how unique and personal it feels. It’s refreshing to see something outside of the same design trends we constantly see. The curtains are the only thing I’d change personally, but I love how different and you they are.
The hutch is beautiful! Definitely would look amazing with a topper and doors. Great job on the bathroom! I am still not 100% in love with the curtains though. Maybe something more plain? I feel like it’s a lot.
MaCenna, you are so inspiring! The way you've learned how to do so much and you just keep going and learning is so cool! You definitely inspire me to take on projects that seem scary or overwhelming and use power tools. Thanks for being such an awesome lady! This bathroom turned out incredible. Your hard work was worth every effort. 💜
The bathroom is lovely! The basket on the bottom shelf would be so pretty with those things on a vintage tray so you can see the items. Curtains are so pretty!
Yes to the topper but no doors, maybe because it looks too beautiful there i fear imagining something else, but we trust ur taste and whatever you decide will be perfect.💝💝💝💝💝 you’re amazing 😻
Absolutely yes to the glass doors and topper! I think those additions will really pull together the vintage look of the piece. Maybe you’ve also considered adding wax to the finish of the cabinet - if so, yes to that as well. It feels like the cabinet needs the richness that wax will bring out. Girl, you’ve worked TOO HARD on that beautiful piece not to finish it full masterpiece status. Great job, McCenna!
Imagine living in this house knowing that you did all of these things! What a dream 😍 Your carpentry skills are just amazing! Glass doors with topper?! 100% yes! (Also, very into a pretty wallpaper inside the cabinet)
Absolutely AMAZING!!!! Love the cafe curtains…wonderful way to recycle fabric. The cabinet is perfect…you make it all look so easy. The cabinet looks great as is, but I’m sure glass doors and a topper would take it over the top. All the vintage accessories and art came together so perfectly. Can’t wait to see how the rest of the house makeover.
Cake stand w a pedestal to place pretty lotions and potions will give some height in cabinet and pop of green with a faux plant mite brighten up the cabinet. You are so incredibly talented! It’s a beautiful space.
This is such an incredible process, the first completed room! You must be SO proud. I’m personally not a huge fan of the curtain fabric but everything is just so exceptionally done 🧡🧡🧡
Was anyone else shocked when MaCenna said she had never heard of Edge Banding hahaha I was surprised she hadn’t used it a million times before. Amazing job on this bathroom! I’ve never seen a more beautiful bathroom and you’re going to absolutely kill it on every other room and I can’t wait to see it all
Love seeing this space come together! That cabinet is amazing and you did a fantastic job... YES to the topper and YES to the Doors (with seeded glass).... for the storage underneath, I envision 2 LARGE French style rustic baskets for extra towels, TP, dirty towels (for guests), etc.
I’m so emotional with happiness for you guys! This journey is amazing. Glass door and a topper would be beautiful. As is can be pretty of course too but I think completing the cabinet would tie your vision together! So proud of your work and dedication. I legitimately get so excited for every upload! 👏🏼🏡
Wow you are amazing! The room looks great. Having a cabinet that you built yourself is something to treasure. I think glass doors and a topper will finish it off nicely. I love the curtains and the whole vintage feel of the space.
Oh MaCenna!!! This is absolutely gorgeous. I am in total awe with all the details. That cabinet your built is INCREDIBLE, I hope you are so proud of yourself. You truly inspire me!
Home renovation is a rewarding venture, one of the most humbling experience in my life. Providing one of the necessities in life, food clothes and shelter.
Omg the guest bathroom came out amazing! Seriously so beautiful. I’m amazed at your attention to detail and constantly inspired by your work ethic. To create something so stunning with your bare hands AND document the journey in such a beautiful way I can’t imagine how hard that must be. Congratulations! I have to say I wasn’t in love with the curtain pattern at first but once it’s all came together it just made the room complete! ✨ You’re so talented and amazing at what you do, I can’t wait to see the kitchen!!! ❤️
This looks sooo good. Great job hun! When coping, I use my oscillating saw to remove the bulk of the material (be sure to use a narrow blade) and then go in with my rotary tool to fine tune things. You can clamp the crown to a piece of scrap wood to stop it from moving around while you do this.
Yes to the topper and the doors. Beautiful bathroom, exceptional job.

I'm sorry you're dealing with something so difficult. The fact that you can start to begin imagining a place that is your own is a great step forward. I wish you luck. You got this!
So my ex and I renovated our apartment together and coping is such a bittersweet memory. We literally could never get it! Hugs to you.
The cabinet build has me so inspired. I feel like I want to try build EVERYTHING now 😂
Same here 😂All of a sudden every nook with free space needs a self build of some kind.
Yes to the topper
I've been patiently waiting for this video. There is no words to say how great this looks. I absolutely love it.
Awww thank you so much! I’m so sorry it took longer than I thought it would but I keep telling myself “good things take time” 🥰🛀
Literal tears at that reveal.
I DISAGREE, THE CURTAINS LOOK REALLY NICE 👍
The curtains are THE only thing I don’t like! But whatever makes her happy!
i agree!!
Same. I think a simple linen color or something with smaller detail flowers would have been better.
The print is too large for the size of the curtain panel, plus the pattern doesn't match across each of the panels, making the eye wander.
Vertical stripes would make me agree with you. Or a creamy linen with a black ribbon edge.
A place of personal joy. Lovely! 💐
I agree, or just creamy solid curtains
Yeah I agree it needs one modern element and streamlined, simple...kind of inching towards re-enactment or museum like imo.
TF you have a point, the curtains look too granny style.
So proud of you, MaCenna. Seeing all the love and work you've put into your home is so inspiring! I'm excited to be here for more pretty progress
Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰
That hutch looks so good, and is the perfect addition to the space.
This cottage needs to be in a magazine! 🥰 its gorgeous.
Yes doors & topper on the cabinet!
MaCenna this was AMAZING! seriously in awe of your talent & hard work! so inspiring
Omg Macenna, you’ve outdone yourself. The cabinet!! Everything is so so beautiful. You did such a good job, I love all about your bathroom! ♥️♥️♥️
I agree! So gorgeous...You're the Best Macenna!!!
@Repent and believe in Jesus ChristAmen! I am a believer in God, Jesus and the holy spirit.
Absolutely yes to a topper on that cabinet!
I agree I think it would add something special up there
This bathroom is absolutly gorgeous!
WOW! it's so unique and cozy and everything just works so perfectly together. flawless design!!!
I was just telling my dad how you've essentially learned how to renovate a home by yourself in a year, you're amazing and I love this moody bathroom 😍
Worth the wait! I’m speechless.
No - Doors
Yes - Topper
Don’t love the curtain fabric but the cafe rod was a brilliant idea.
Take care!
Definitely glass doors, maybe with some pretty molding, or brass color window paint decals. And yes to the topper! That piece is so beautiful!
We've been waiting for this video for so long, and now that it's here, I feel like I'm getting high off it! Everything is so good, just *chef's kiss*
Every decision you made was just full of love, care and thought. This makeover is perfectly done. You are so inspiring with evert you've done and taught yourself on this makeover journey! Thank you!
So proud of you McKenna! Can’t wait to watch your family grow in this beautiful cottage.
Thank youuuuu 🥹🥰
Absolutely breathtaking! Love how unique this whole cottage is turning out to be. All the finishes and designs are so far from run of the mill and full of personality and warmth and old world charm. I love this bathroom already! Cant wait to see those final finishing touches down the line
Ma’am you are living my dreams😊 don’t take your opportunities for granted😄
Woodwork is a skill that I love soo much. I don’t have as many tools and supplies as you do or else I think I’d build a lot more.
Yes yes yes! Yes, to the beautiful glass doors and the topper! Embracing the antique feel for the hutch would be incredible!
It’s perfect , everything completes everything , I could had never ever imagined how beautiful it would end up to look like.. a masterpiece
I feel like the only missing thing from this video is the excitement from you building an ENTIRE HUTCH!!!! What the heck you did that!!! It and the entire bathroom looks amazing 🎉🎉🎉
Glass doors - yes
Topper - yes
The bathroom has turned out just amazing!
Yes to the glass doors and topper on the hutch! Beautiful!!!
Love, love, love the peacock curtains!! I was so glad when you purchased that comforter set and what plans you have for it. Looks amazing!!
Stunning bathroom, you’ve done an amazing job. I love how unique and personal it feels. It’s refreshing to see something outside of the same design trends we constantly see. The curtains are the only thing I’d change personally, but I love how different and you they are.
I vote yes for the doors! So happy to see the guest bath almost fully complete 😍
🖕🖕Thanks for watching ✋
Hit me up I have something for you
Absolutely yes to the glass doors and topper!
What a dream 😍
Your carpentry skills are just amazing!
I agree I LOVE it all except for the curtain fabric
Maybe frosted glass would have been an option for the glass where the curtains are. Love everything else though! 😔❤️
@@elainedee9314 I even like the style of the curtains ! Just the fabric, but I still appreciate all the work
Was anyone else shocked when MaCenna said she had never heard of Edge Banding hahaha I was surprised she hadn’t used it a million times before. Amazing job on this bathroom! I’ve never seen a more beautiful bathroom and you’re going to absolutely kill it on every other room and I can’t wait to see it all
She’s such a pro carpenter already. Hard to believe she just started not too long ago
Kingsley is such an amazing assistant. I love how she expertly supervises projects, leaving no detail overlooked. I think she deserves a raise.
🖕🖕Thanks for watching ✋
Hit me up I have something for you
Omg the guest bathroom came out amazing! Seriously so beautiful. I’m amazed at your attention to detail and constantly inspired by your work ethic. To create something so stunning with your bare hands AND document the journey in such a beautiful way I can’t imagine how hard that must be. Congratulations! And thank you for taking us along for the ride ☺️
Glass doors and it’s a HELL YES to the topper. It would finish it off like *chefs kiss*
