So many people do this style of running content but this channel is 10x better with your brilliant voiceovers and self-talk. A lot more relatable.
Appreciate it, thank you!
you need to do some stand up comedy or voiceover work, your vocals & delivery are really terrific
Lol, that is why I subscribed. You should definitely do voice-over work 😊.
I click for the running content, i stay and subscribe for the commentary 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
19:14 😂 I spat out my tea 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
"F** Sl**" .....made me spit my coffee out....brilliant!! And well done.
🤣🤣🤣
Love this style of running video. Your content is very unique and entertaining. I’ve been binge watching. Surprised you don’t have a lot more subs. Keep it up, great running and great content, love the sarcasm and name calling of hills 😂
Thanks so much!!
Great commentary! We basically had the same (brutal) run. My second attempt at sub 3 also. I went out at 6:45s (managed to stick to my plan for 0 miles) and paid for it dearly from about mile 6. Progressively slowed down / cramped / nearly vommed. Got in just ahead of you with a P.B at 3:10:04. Four seconds off Boston qualifying, oh well. Thanks for filming it, I was in so much pain early on that I couldn't really remember much, but this made it come flooding back :)
Oh man, that's slightly traumatising being so close - great effort though!
It’s here! Good Luck!!! 🎉
lovely work J.Mills - we could sense that extra motivation in the final yards! Looking forward to more fun videos like this.
Nice exciting finish!
This video is a great reminder of the day. Thank you. It's crazy, like you, i tried to start easy and hold pace but got progressively slower as the hills and wind took hold. We stlll overtook a lot of places. I doubt many were able to negative split. Very fast finish at 5min mile pace.
Great run! Thanks for the video!
No worries!
"It's getting as hard as it's ever been in any run" - definitely my experience doing the Brighton Marathon this Sunday. But amazing day with amazing crowds and great to relive the memories through your video.
that's what she said
Glad you enjoyed it too, it was a great day!
Great run!
Watching your videos has given me more confidence in my running to finish a park run quicker and gradually getting quicker for it (by no means a marathon or being fast)
Cheers man, glad to hear you're gaining confidence, keep at it!!
Great video.
Thank you!
Good lad! Gonna be channeling that f** s*** slur energy when I cross Wall territory in Manchester. Well done on the huge PB ❤
Cheers man! ❤️
Love your work J Mills. A great effort in tough conditions, you stayed strong till the end. Saw you between 17-18 miles just past the pier, but didn't realise till you'd passed.
Cheers man!
That was amazing. Edge of my seat the whole way and that sprint finish damn!
Didn't think I had it in me when I was cramping just before 🤣🤣
Great effort! That looked brutal. Your warzone comment had me in pieces 😂 I've got London in just over a week, starting to feel real!
Cheers, hope you smash London, good luck!
We've signed up for Brighton next year. Thanks for the thoughtful breakdown of the course and how one might think about approaching it.
No worries, good luck to both of you this week!
I’m slightly addicted to your videos by now. We need more ASAP! 😂
Friday night new content pending 😍😍
Great work fantastic commentary
Thank you!
I wa a lot slower but I loved the atmosphere and just running marathons! Great video.
Thank you!!
Thank you!
Entertaining video. Strong finish!
I was there. (Burgundy vest / coral/white kicks) coming past on your bright at 2:24 - spot -on overly keen start!
I was shooting for sub 3 also - and my plan buggered off after getting overly excited that sub 2:55 and GFA and went out way hard... 20 minute 5k. 40 minute 10. 1:26 half. 30km onward 7 cramping fits forcing walking - got round in 03:05:10
Ah unlucky mate, at least you gave it a shot, I was too scared to try 🙈🙈
cracking stuff
Brilliant stuff, runner by day, comedian by night. Great result well done.
Thank you!
Love the comentary :D
Thank you!!
I’ve figured out what I like most about this channel. It’s unfiltered, non woke and upfront. Superb
You should have way more than 1.5k followers on this channel
Oh you 🤣🤣
I was in your posse of friends at 9 miles in the Hackney shirt, unfortunately around 17 miles my ankle started to give out and I had to drop some pace to make it to the finish line, ended up with a 3:16 and sunburned calves. Was a tough day out!
I do love a good running video with no music just commentary.
You'll get plenty of that here!
i love lamp
Really enjoyed the video. Was looking for you overtaking me but you started further up than me I think so didn't spot myself haha. I was great until 28k and everything started to go wrong, I guess being injurer missing my last long run and only getting a easy 5k and 6k in during 3 week taper took its toll... Was on for 3:20 and felt great til my calf was cramping and had to walk a lot...3h48 first marathon though with a strong 28k ill take that. Next time 3h20 is on! Manchester 2025...i think.
Yeah, I think Manchester 2025 is gonna be my next attempt too!
Well done and thanks for another entertaining video. 3h 11m is a fab time. A lot can happen during a marathon!
I know this has been said elsewhere, but please use metric! Imperial measurements need to die.
Cheers, I will hahahaha
Sneaky 2nd camera FTW!
Well done on the run, spoke to you at the start line. I decided to go for a positive split and hang on at the end
Nice one mate! Don't think I had the fitness for it - would have ended in tears for me 🤣🤣
why would you go for a positive split?
@@kevinenglish5460 Knew it would be a slog in the wind later on, I’m better at hanging on than speeding up at the end
I still gained places every split, went from 229th to 153rd
@@Ben-cw4ln That's an epic effort, kinda wish I tried it now 🤣🤣
Congrats on P.B J.Mills, good effort 👍
Thank you!!
Top effort! Nice to see you finally started near the front 😂 what gels do you use?
Cheers lad! I use Kendal mint chocolate gels 🤣🤣 A little bit rogue but they sit well in my stomach - managed to get 7 down me with no problems!
Nice run! The negative split makes perfect sense until you actually have to up the pace 😆
One day I'll nail it haha!
Cool shirt. Shame you didn't wear a vest, preferably pink.
🎉🎉🎉
don't know what I would have done with myself if the footage ended after the first battery died. lovely stuff
Never will I make that mistake again! (I probably will)
Cracking effort J Mills - I think your approach was very sensible… and what an amazing finish! I was out spectating on the course, and that was not a day for PBs! Sorry I missed you - managed to leave my phone at home and the tracker wouldn’t work on my partner’s phone, so we were completely in the dark about how everyone was getting on 🫠 So many questions… what electrolyte tablets were you using? (Hoping mine don’t become dust). What was your nutrition plan? How did you know when your camera died/swap halfway through? Already on your cap? I think that will do 😅
I was using SIS tablets
I was having one gel every 25mins (27grams of carbs)
Camera makes a large beeping noise when it dies!
Hope that answers everything!
Yes thanks, sorry for 21 questions… think the marathon nerves are kicking in 😂
@@nrg_runs Nah, all good mate, hope you smash it, good luck!
@@CrownMyRun Cheers!
I also tried to run this marathon sub 3 using a negative split... unfortunately my pacing was way off, ran the first half in 1:28 and finished in 3:20 LOL.
Oh well, at least there's next year.
Loved the race though.
We could only try 🤣🤣 Yeah, was an incredible atmosphere!
You went out too fast
Please stick to modern measurements and use km for on screen pace. So much easier for calculations and mile pacing just makes working anything out more complicated. Apart from that loved the video
He usually does do km pace, check out all the other vids - guessing he switched to miles due to a marathon being in miles, and using mile splits. Plus almost all Americans and about half of brits use mile pace, and *they* then need to calculate back. I'm a stud and use both.
Yeah, I usually use KM, I promise!
I still work in miles for pace in running. I use metric for everything other than running. 6.25 for a sub 20 5k, and sub 40 10k, 6.55 for a 90 mins half. No idea what those paces are in KM
As an American I appreciate it, lol! Yeah, the metric system makes way more sense, but I always have to do the calculation in my head or a calc for comparison to what I know.
Yes, metric FTW!
I had the exact same reaction to that hill at mile 20 😂😂😂😂
Little git wasn't it!
It was horrid, I think I beat you on places gained tho 😂 nearly 2k
@@xbradmq688 oh baby, love that!!
It was my first one, loved it! Started out in the over 4hr group and came in at 3hr50
@@xbradmq688 Bossed it!
Only thing that would make it better is if you had the km distance and pace on there too and not just miles!
Did you carry out electrolite tabs and add them to the supplied water?
I did but they crumbled in the tube and was going everywhere when I tried to get the powder out. Luckily my gels had electrolytes in them.
@CrownMyRun I thought that's what you said in the commentary. I'm thinking of keeping mine in a small tin wrapped in tissue to reduce movement of the tablets as I don't think SIS gels have electrolytes in them?
@@davebowerman9869 yeah, might be a good shout, don't think SIS gels do.
What on earth is that section in the 24th/25th mile, forcing you to run a gauntlet of bimbling tourists, I thought you'd got lost (again)
🤣🤣 Not ideal but the rest of the course made up for it I think!
Can the GOAT give me some motivation to train for my 1st marathon
Get that half down to 120
A good shout!
Should have started with the sub 3 group, let someone else set the pace for you, one less task to worry about then 👍
We go again soon!
Please go back to min/km
Will do 🤣🤣
1st
Mins per Mile is for boomers
The Mills boys always got a finishing kick 💪 you love to see it
