November 2022: Excellent! I just bought a used 2021 TRD Off Road Premium and spent two hours searching for this info. Must have watched 20 lame videos whose title claimed it would show these features… and then I found THIS video! Great job! Not fancy, not filmed deep in the wilderness, but you clearly demonstrated these features. 👏👍🏻🌵

@@ryanhammond6688 Your % is tainted by your own personal experiences or bias for or against the vehicle. I do not argue that the scenario you threw out there does not exist. But rather that the % of people using the 4R for more than school runs(IE: over land adventures)has skyrocketed dramatically over the last 5 years. Might want to do a survey with 100 or more owners and revise your guesstimate. 😉

Order of gaining traction if needed:
    (1) 2H
    (2) 4H
    (3) 4L
    (4) 4L + Locked diff
    (5) 4L + A track

      (4) 4L + Locked diff

This is a great summary of traction progression. Thanks for the input. I would also like to add that you can access MTS for some settings without being in 4L, and it isn't necessary to wait until you are almost stuck to do it. MTS makes adjustments to your throttle input and response to help you out. It can be used at any time during this progression as long as the setting allows.

When you shift to crawl control, are you supposed to be in 2H, 4H or 4L? And are you supposed to be at full stop when doing that?

    • @AskAmes

Terrain selection turns off when you go into crawl control because at that point the car is in total control. Terrain selection adjusts the input from the throttle. Since you do not use the throttle in Crawl, terrain selection is no longer needed.

Great video explaining all the functions. Honestly wish my dealer would watch this. They know basically zero on how all this works but ask them about Rav4 or highlander and they will repeat the manual.

I'll probably never go off roading and at the most I'll be going through 2 feet of snow in the winter but I am really loving the 4Runner and hope to get one early next year. Hoping to get a TRD base model.

Holy cow this was amazing!!! I’m grateful for this video . Just bought my 2018 TRD off-road traded my SR5 not even my service guys at Toyota could explain these features to me. This was extremely helpful to learn more about my 4Runner. Quick question though, what’s mogul? In the terrain setting?

  • @turborsx5740

Thank you for making this video! My 2020 TRD Off road lets you use both crawl control and multi terrain selector at the same time. You have to turn the multi terrain on first before crawl control.

Why don't more people know this I've been trying to learn how things work, but all explain without the detail that you gave thank you for that. I have one question I wasn't sure if can you use traction control in 4 wheel high driving through the snow at higher speeds?

    • @AskAmes
      @AskAmes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Traction control stays activated in 4 wheel high. You can manually turn it off if you like. It automatically turns off in 4 low.
