I know exactly where this is at!! That rail yard is immediately next to the Parkway West! The WDVE Building and Green Tree water tower are what's on top of the hill in the distance. 👍
Notch 8 refers to the maximum speed of the locomotive's engine. Most are about 1,000 RPM. It doesn't necessarily mean the locomotive will be going fast, because it depends on the weight of the train and the gradient that it's operating on.
Nothing like the sound of EMD 645 V16s running in notch 8. Beautiful sound!!!
One of the best EMD notch 8 videos on TH-cam
Love those 645s and the fans on the traction motors grinding along…
Clean running engines! No smoke, just great sound and power.
more good scubbers than down at the local tennis club.
but the smoke is what makes it fun
No diesel is clean running under heavy load.
Plus they are two stroke for proper smoke shows look up the deltic Alcoa or even ge
@@cidertom5140 gotcha! all those heavy trucks I thought were diesel are actually electric. righttttt
Classic EMD power and sound! I love it! Brings back memories of the CP rail SD40-2s working up the grade into Ingolf, my home town.
Sweet sounding EMD power nothing better!
The sound of the Roots blowers sure stands out in this video! Thanks!
All turbocharged units, but they sound damn good!
@@NS_5350I think it might be the cooling fans you can hear.
I like the sound beginning at 2:19! Coming around the bend! What an awesome sound!

The built in mic on my Panasonic camcorder does a pretty good job with sound!
Anyone have the Foggiest where this is ??
At the end is Rook Yard in Pittsburgh area so I would guess west of there between Ohio and Pittsburgh
@@carlmassart167 Thanks a Bunch
Fantastic!
Why is signal green @5:36? Should be red
Its a switch signal indicator so this how it goes:
green = mainline
Yellow = siding and switching
red = nothing
Great video. But I'm new here. Where? Or are your locations secret?
Avella Pennsylvania
Avella, Rea, Hickory, and Sygan in that order
I counted 97 cars pulled by 5 engines. Wonder what GATX is? Cheers from eastern TN
It's a haulage company I think. Popular in europe
A leasing company that leases locomotive power
They're a railroad equipment lease company. They own about 150,000 freight cars and about 650 locomotives.
Awesome Sound
🤗
5:36 I hope somebody's fixed that signal by now!
There's nothing wrong with it
@@NS_5350 Showing a green signal with a train approaching? If it's a switch indicator, why does is have three aspects?
@kleetus92 Green indicates that it's lined for the main, yellow for the siding, and red shows that nothing is lined though the switch
Good Damn!!!!!! 😎
Great vid!!
Any way to get a copy of the sound file for the train coming out of the tunnel? Very cool! Thank you.
I don't have the sound file anymore, but you might be able to screen record the video and take the sound from it
У них двигатели мощные а почему тогда они буксуют? А ведь буксования нельзя никоим случае допускать.
4:30 I can't tell if it's surging or not
Yep, second unit is hunting a bit
I can hear it more or less ay the beginning of the video.😊

Diesel Locomotive Throttles only have 8 Positions...Notch 1= Lowest Throttle Position and Idle to Notch 8=Wide Open
