Great video of all these trains running NOTCH 8. Awesome to see the smoke billowing out pulling a HEFTY consist of cars! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware and I'm a new subscriber of your channel.
Great video! I don't like the concept of quiet zones, but I really like how the prime mover sounds of the Pan Am train at 7:19 aren't obscured by the horn. I will be so sad when the day comes I can't hear EMD 2-stroke power in person anymore. I've known and loved it all of my 60-plus years.
Oh man, that's so sweet... Diesel electric power... I live in the South Island of New Zealand (next stop Antarctica) our trains are nowhere as heavy as yours... They are all old now, built in Canada 50 odd years ago.... DX class... We got some new ones from China not long ago, but there was issues with asbestos... We used to make our own locomotives here, mainly steam... I do love to watch Big Boy clips, man they are beasts...!! Can't beat Diesel Power tho a ... ??!!! ❤
Awesome, I love how the EMDs in Australia sound the same as their North American cousins , I guess a 567, 645 and a 710 is the same no matter where you are !, excellent footage by the way, thanks for sharing man
Holy shit - I was there for that PORU video in Portland... except I ran off to get a few photos of PO-4 working nearby, thinking I had some time before PORU's departure, and ended up missing it. One of my bigger railfan fuckups of the past few years.
In that first one from Exeter, did the engineer give you two short hello honks as he passed you? Or was that for another crossing ahead? Also, grew up in NH. Great catches, great video.
Nothing about brain size here! There is no reason one would assume that notch 8 is the nighest. It could be 10 or 15 too. How would anyone who isn't in this field of work kniw that?? There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers! @@voidjavelin23
The sound of EMD prime movers at full throttle will never get old
I agree
Gotta love EMD locomotives. They have different appearance which I love because I love variety
Chugging of GE prime movers will never change. EMD is history, uses 4 stroke engine now and nobody wants it 😅
@@Inferno-hn3zx can you tell me the difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines?

I love hearing these 2 stroke EMDs singing in notch 8!!!

Yep. Nothing is cool anymore. All these new locomotives are quiet and “efficient.” I hate it too.

Love the four axle power!

Boy, wouldn't the tree huggers love these smoke belching beasties....
Cool PennCentral hopper!!
8:25 that's awesome having a different nose on each GP40
1:44 yellow jackets !
If you want to see true Notch 8 action, play this video in double-speed!
great video ❤❤❤❤
:50 Looks likes a safe place to sit and watch a potential train de-rail!
6:58 yalready know that smelled mad good
The city smelt like it for 1/2 hour after they went through
The new power today is a toggle switch with a turtle and a rabbit.
didnt know they still used 4 axle GP's on the main lines
Susquehanna bumble bees! 🎉
“… with a full load of *soot* in the engine…”
Sanding like hell at 9:20!
radiator fans on that 3rd unit singing to the angels too!
Which horn is this at 6:00? For me one of the best sounding ones!😍

What does notch 8 means?
Notch 8 is the highest notch throttle you can do on trains
Push it in the seed....take the go handle an put it all the way forward..👍👍👍
Fast power!

So what is slow power?
Sweet video!
Well Done!
Hold up, is this where the term "top notch" comes from
I don’t think so, but it works so let’s just say it did haha
Most of these are NOT Notch 8 !!!!
I Live in Exeter, NH 70 ft from the rails right off my porch !!
Okay

Thanks! It sounded like a little horn for us, then they started blowing for Front Street.
@@dcarpine28 Well that's cool! I've only ever had a couple honk for me. The rest were probably having a bad day. Lol.
Pan am sure had some junk locomotives!
worn out 4 axle GP's
those smoke bomb locomotives.git r done.
Why notch 8 not 10 or so?
If you have that pea bran size naiveness, notch 8 is literlly the highest notch you can do on trains
