I had this in elementary school in the late 80s early 90s. It was badass. I remember they wanted to make sure I didn't cheat on tests with the calculator on it. I wore this, and it's successor, up through and just after college. But then I needed to be cool so I stopped wearing it. I recently got this very one again for my Birthday, and I wear it once again. Some things you can never really improve or replace.

@@johnnyparsnips7641 the new model is not backlit. It is just reverse screen (black background with grey characters).

Thanks! I had to check again how to get to 24 hour display after putting in a new CR-2016 lithium battery today. With the last one, my Casio CA-62 ran for an incredible 13.5 years! A fantastic watch. Only the original watch strap broke after a few years. The date reset to January 1, 1980, I bought the watch in the early 1990s without instructions for use, it was a display model in the store.
Can i just say, This is the only video that showed how to change the DAY. i was going crazy......... who puts the year first in their calendar!!!! anyway now I have the correct day . Thanks for the video.

This watch is awesome, I had the original in the 90s. As a Linux geek I prefer the date year month day as that's usually how we store date time in a database. It's very light weight and comfortable, I forget it's even on my wrist so I like the strap but wish it were more durable with a metal buckle (maybe I should try the databank). If it were backlit (again databank), I wouldn't have to change my watch at night and I wish the secondary time could be in 24 hour while the main remains AM PM. But for the price the features and attention this watch brings, you can always strike up a conversation and find a new friend.

Been more than 15 years with this, I finished my school, high school n now engineering almost done n it's still working, battery died after 12 years.

my one just arrived without the beep on (I think it was a return item 💀) used your tutorial to turn it back ON! A Casio does not feel like one without it 🙌

Hit the "SIG ON-OFF" key (the multiplication button) while on the alarm screen, and the bell indicator should appear, which makes it beep every hour

I have had this watch since the 1980's. I love it. I won't buy anything else. The only thing that I do not like is that you can't read the time in the dark! The very first one I bought had a light so you could read the time in the dark. When I had to replace the watch eventually, they had taken away the light and added the dual time. I never use the dual time, and don't know what it's for, but I sure could use the light. I have to replace the watch about every other year, since you can't replace the battery.

Yeh it’s a real shame about the lack of light. However, it does have the comfiest Casio strap ever and I’ve just bought one to put on my W-86. Slight cuts needed but now is perfect

Hi, one error you need to check that I’ve known several other people do is set the date the wrong way round. In the U.K. we set a date as: day/month/year, but these watches need to be set as: year/month/day due to them being of Japanese origin. Hopefully that will sort you out

Picked up one of these watches but I noticed on mine that the WR on the top right is boxed in and see pictures of others that aren't boxed in, could mine be fake ?
Don’t worry, this question came up in my group recently. Casio have decided (for some reason) to make some slight facelift changes to a couple of their new “retro style” watches. They have added a different “WR” symbol to this watch and the A168W (probably more than will surface soon too) and all it means is your CA53W is from the very latest batch produced 👌🏻 Obviously if there’s many other thing wrong with it like in my video then it would be a concern, but I highly doubt anyone that makes fakes has had chance to include the new WR symbol yet of course.

My watch changes to AM when i touch PLUS SIGN . I can not get PM AT ALL. IF I touch the dot or decimal it does nothing. Now what?? Date and time are okay
Is it possible to mute also the ST? Because even on mute it beeps when I start and stop the ST :(
I don’t believe it is possible to mute the stopwatch beep as this is used as a warning to help you or someone else start and stop with accuracy.
I followed the steps but my watch just won’t go into am/pm mode?
Try it again as no reason it shouldn’t.
Ahhh I pressed the Start-Stop button and that worked instead? Maybe it is wired wrong?

Thanks. I’m not entirely sure how to do that, as mine didn’t beep hourly when I bought it new.
There is a way because mine doesn't chime on the hours, can't be that hard to figure out though, probably stated somewhere in the manual too

If you change the date like in the video then that changes the day. It’s on an internal calendar so the day will be correct once the date is set.

You can type in the date like you type in the new time. Also be aware that the date format is unusual so double check that too

What kind of maniac calls it a "period" when talking about numbers?
Period = a length of time or an end (like the end of a sentence)
Decimal = decimate (to kill one out of ten e.g. 1.9 = kill the one and you're left with zero point one through nine (this is why we call 0.X the tenth place)
