- Hello! In this video I share with you my updated skin care routine with the use of tretinoin at 0.05% strength. I choose to use tretinoin for its anti-aging benefits as well as to support my skin in skin cell turnover, promoting healthier skin. Where do I get my Tretinoin?
In the UK, you can only get tretinoin by prescirption. However, as I had learned about the potential risks alongside proper use of the medication, I felt informed enough to purchase this off my own accord. I cannot reitterate enough the importance of doing enough reserach before using this product. Tretinoin and I are besties forever. I was initially on Accutane for 7 months which cleared my acne. My dermatologist then prescribed me tretinoin which I now use everyday. My skin is glass-like looking and smooth as butter. You must wear sunscreen everyday. Gamechanger💓
That’s so interesting as I did 7 months accutane too so far all clear still thank goodness how long ago did you stop it? Amd what percent tretinoin do you use? I’m trying to persevere with it only on 0.25% but really dries and peels my skin so get on better with adapelene to keep spots away hopefully 🤞🏻

Do you put moisturizer before tretinoin?
You forgot to mention that after applying moisturizer, wait at least 10mins for it to fully absorb; then apply tret. Same goes for applying moisturizer (wait tret. is fully absorbed.
You should actually put tret on before anything else, well so use a face spray then apply the tret. I never put moisturizer on before, I want the treats full benefits and should be first in skin minus a spray to help it spread.
How long should you wait for the tret to absorb? Because I’ve been just putting on serums then tret then my moisturizer. I give it like 2 mins in btw each step. Thank you ❤
@@oliviad5474Putting on moisturizer before helps people with sensitive skin mitigate the irritation levels. If you have tolerant skin then you can do as you said, but some people can find it beneficial if they have dry sensitive skin :) I do agree with you though! If you have tolerant skin then go ahead and put it on before moisturizer

I loved this video 😊 especially the 2nd part where you explain how you do it in practical terms. I'm also bumping up tretinoin from 0.03% to 0.05%. I started twice a week the new strength and the other days I was applying retinal (A-Game 5) or Cicaplast baume, and I thought that was more than enough precaution. I guess not, because my face turned red and I had some stinging sensation after cleansing, etc. (before that, I was applying 0.03% 4 times a week and the other days, retinal, so I didn't think I needed to start with just once a week and all other days just do a restoring routine, etc.).
So I stopped the 0.05% tret and did a restoring routine for 2 weeks and now I'm starting again with the 0.05%. Very useful advice about putting moisturizer before tretinoin. I've always applied it to bare skin and because I use a compound formula by my derm that is really thick, I can't put moisturizer on top (nothing penetrates that formula😅). This time I will apply moisturizer before 0.05% tret. I will also start with just once a week and the other days, a restoring routine. I hope this will make acclimation easy.
I'm doing it for well-aging and not acne, BTW (I'm past my 40s)
About sunscreen with tretinoin:
I hate LRP UVMune fluid, because it has a massive amount of denat alcohol and with the tret (also with 0.03%), that was stinging right away (that never happened before I used tretinoin).
During my 2 weeks restoring routine, I applied a restoring moisturizer (Cica Cera, Skintegra) before sunscreen (Cicaplast baume SPF50+), because that Cicaplast also has alcohol and my skin didn't like it. Probably my skin didn't like many things, since it was irritated. But with the restoring cream first, it was fine. I'm still using Cicaplast as sunscreen.
Before that, I liked Evy Mousse SPF50 for the face (amazing finish, and it also doesn't stain clothes, a huge plus for me).
I also used Altruist fluid, but it leaves an awful white cast, so that's a no. Also tried P20 sensitive 50+ and same issue: awful white cast, so no.

Yes! I agree, when your skin reacts highly to anything and the skin barrier becomes damaged, it's a very good idea to revaluate your current routine and strip it back if necessary! It's a learning curve for everyone 😅.
In terms of the La Roche Posay UVMUNE - I was aware of the alcohol in that before purchasing yes and was cautious to try especially since my skin is quite dry anyway 😵💫 but turns out my skin absolutely loves it so I'm just glad for that haha :) I'm sorry it caused irritation for yours :S I hope you've found a sunscreen that works for your skin?

I'm in my 2nd week of using Tret, but I'm thinking of changing my routine. I'm going to use it on damp skin, which some don't agree with but I'm willing to try to see if it helps.

How long it takes to fade dark spots? Do you know any info about epiduo forte
Hello! Thanks for your question! Tretinoin can fade dark spots in a range of time-spans however, usually it may be a few months before you start to see these results. For me, my scarring from acne faded about 4 months into use (near to the time I started to purge). After the purge stage, any acne that formed and scarred actually healed way faster and better than it did in the past without tretinoin use.
To be completely honest, this is the first time I've heard of Epiduo Forte! I've had to look it up but it seems to be a combination of adapalene and benzoyl peroxide which looks pretty interesting!

Hello! Thanks for your comment! My personal experience of the purge stage lasted for around a few weeks to a month, with new spots being pushed through to the surface during that whole period. My skin did peel after a couple weeks when I first started tretinoin however after constant use and using moisturiser appropriately, I managed to acclimatise quite quickly and the peeling had subsided. I did not experience too much redness due to how slowly I had introduced the ingredient into my routine and how diligent I was with using sunscreen. I had no peeling when I began using this next stage of 0.05% as I introduced the cream very slowly :) I hope this helps!

Hey ! It's 0.025% this is the minimum strength you can begin or retinol serums. Don't forget to use sunscreen and moisturizer religiously.
On the days when I’m not on tretinoin can I use my niacinamide serum?

You’re lucky you were able to get it in that dosage to start. I can’t get a dermatologist to prescribe anything stronger than .025 and I am 52 with non sensitive that is used to chemical peels. I tried getting it through the agency, who compounds it with other products, and they wanted to give me an even lower dosage, which they’re able to make, as opposed to The three prescriptions that are available through most pharmacies. How are you able to get it? Prescribed it that high of a dosage to start? I’d appreciate the advice!
Online prescriptions! I personally use Redbox, but there are many others. I got what I asked for, which was .05 to initiate my journey. Approval process took less than a day for me.
Can i use Vaseline or baby lotion as moisturizer before or after tretinoin cause i only have these and i have a very dry skin ... i just ordered a tretinoin cream but very afraid to apply it cause i don't have any moisturizer
Hi! I would suggest the baby lotion will be the better option in your case. If the baby lotion is something your skin agrees with and you know it is not irritating to use, then this will be okay. I would recommend applying the lotion before the tretinoin cream to decrease chances of irritation and dryness. It is a good idea to also apply vaseline around sensitive areas on your face (around your eyes, nose and mouth) so there is an added layer of protection. However, if you are not in a rush, it would be best to wait until you get your hands on a thicker moisturiser cream instead of a lotion - as lotions can be a lot thinner in texture so there is not much moisture support or barrier protection like you would get with a thicker cream. I hope this helps!

I’m currently on my 2nd month and my skin still purges badly… I’m so close to quitting😢
I didn’t purge during my first month I did on my second month, have been using tret for 4 month and I still break out so people differs, different skins different progress, so just be consistent and exercise patience, it’s been four month? Did you later got a good results?

I got sooooo much purging when I started tret and it doesn’t seem to be going away. How long did it take for your purging and spots to go away?😊
It differs with people skin, at first I heard the purging goes away after 8weeks that’s 2month, but I have been using tret for 4months now and I still get lil purges here and there but it isn’t intense like my second month. I didn’t really purge though a lot of people with intense purging, mine wasn’t as bad. So it takes time if you ask me👀you just have to be consistent and don’t give up.

How long does it take to peel the skin off?
Hello! Your skin can start to feel dry and peel even after a few days of using tretinoin. You can help to prevent this by either applying your moisturiser before applying your tretinoin, or by introducing tretinoin into your routine very slowly to begin with by using once a week.

Hi! I would recommend that tretinoin should be started at the lowest percentage in your early 20's if you wanted to harness the anti-aging benefits. However, people start tretinoin (usually medically prescribed) at an earlier age if using for the purpose of acne medication. I would recommend speaking to your GP to see if this is something right for you.

Before I left Turkey last month. I purchased 6 boxes of Tret. They sell over the counter.
