    Thank you soo much. Fixed my problem in less than 5 mins thanks to you! I found that you can just ‘partially’ undo the screw enough so the teeth still disengage without totally removing the screw which saves all the hassle of refitting the screw from scratch!

    Big thanks for your video. New to caravaning. Had problem with slider .what to do went on you tube and found your video .fix my problem in 10min. The only thing I did different was put a sheet of paper on the bottom just in case screw fell out and went down a hole.. Thanks again. 👍👍

    Really helpful video thanks! On the last day of our trip the blade was stuck shut, which had us very worried! Found this video which showed me clearly what to do. As said by others, I didn't remove the screw completely, just loosened it until the ratchet mechanism disengaged. Job completed in 10 minutes. Gave all the moving parts a squirt of WD40, before tightening up. Thanks again for your video, people like yourself who upload videos to help others are stars deserve a big pat on the back.

    My husband has just followed your instructions re the adjustment to the toilet flap. It worked brilliantly. He just loosened the screw slightly and realised it would turn without unscrewing it completely. Thanks for your guidance. We were going to take it in to the caravan repair shop which wouldn’t have been cheap.

    A very big thank you to you. Our Thetford cassette toilet flap would barely open. A screw driver adjustment of the plastic piece with cogs and it is working perfectly again, took 5 minutes. The issue on ours happened when the handle was forced and the cogs moved out of place. We are very grateful for this easy fix you have put on youtube which avoids a trip to the dealer!

  • @rml10000
    @rml10000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks Gly. Great video. Just fixed mine with same problem. Three changes I made:
    * Take door off - just slide out the two plastic pins that hold it on.
    * Use your phones front camera as a mirror so you can see what you're doing
    * You don't need to take the cogwheel right off. Just unscrew it a bit and it drops down clear of the mechanism enough for you to open the handle fully and then screw it back up again.
    Thanks again !

    Brilliant thanks for that. Another New Zealander helped out in a time of need!
    Also used the loosen screw technique just enough to relocate the teeth of the ratchet pivot point. Put lever to normal closed position so the cassette could slot in easily locating the part where the screw is loosened to easily take the orange flap into its slot. Much appreciated for taking the time to do that very helpful video.
    Safe travels everyone.

    • @TheBeckwiths

      It could be, or without being rude. Maybe it's getting over full, mine usually jumps a cog when I try to get an extra day without emptying it.

    I had this problem last yr. Up to now there have been no vds on this subject and I couldn’t find anything in the thetford manual or online. Because I couldn’t see what the problem was, I used my phone to take pictures. It was just as fiddly as you showed and you have to work completely blind. Mine was stuck three quarter closed and didn’t want to risk it even for liquid because it could flow over the cassette and make a real mess. I’m now wondering if this is a fault with newish Thetford toilets. I purchased my MH new in Dec 2018 and if I remember correctly your caravan is fairly new too. I never had this problem in my previous MH or caravan. Thank you for doing this I hope it helps others.👍
