  • Toilet just stopped flushing. Tried swapping fuses and troubleshooting boards. Turned out to be the motor was seized up. Good luck and enjoy.
    *Edit* Thanks for the positive feedback. I apologize for the cell phone quality as well as some of the amateur mistakes but I do not claim to be a professional. I hope this helps, good luck and get out and enjoy the outdoors.

    This is an EXCELLENT video. Love the fact that I had same problem, searched on Google, found this video and (after having no idea how to get into the pump area) now have a great set of ideas and solutions. Well done, thoughtful, self-effacing and love the jibes at over zealous geeky electric guys. Happy wet blue hands here I come!

    Thank you for this video! I just got an A-frame camper with this toilet (used) and the pump wasn't running. It wasn't the impeller being stuck, though, it was the fuse. Even though the 3A fuse looked fine, there was no voltage making it across. I swapped in one of the other fuses from the converter, and the pump ran fine. I'll be picking up a few proper fuses tomorrow. I'm glad I should have this crapper working by the time I take my first trip! This video was what I needed to see/know.

    Many thanks for the excellent advice. We had a little difficulty raising the pump because the plastic tube was stiff and seemed to be formed to fit around the casing. It needed a firm pull. An end to flushing by bottle!

    On the half-full or full indication.
    The printed circuit board with the fuse includes two reed (this make or break contact by the presence of magnetism) contacts which respond to the mechanism in the tank which contains two magnets. I hope it could help, thanks for the video.

    Champion, thanks for your video, saved me getting the toilet repaired!!
    I will say one thing, there is a large almost garden size hose that feed off the pump to the toilet flushing outlet. It will feel as though you cant get the pump out of the small hole because of limited movement from this hose.
    Keep trying and twist the pump around and up, you will get it eventually.

      My problem was trying to get the pump back in place. If I take the water hose off, then when the pump goes down, I can't re-attach the hose. If I connect the hose before I push the pump down, it won't turn enough the go down into place. Spent hours trying to get it back. I know what he means by being a pain in the butt.

    That were finally instructions will all the information in it! I just bought a motorhome with that toilet model and flush wasn't working. I thought there should be a green light or something if the pump is blocked. Thats why I checked all other parts of the system first and they all seem to have suffered over the years. Thanks to your video I was able to draw the right conclusions and check out the pump. It was blocked and I got it going again. Thanks for the video!

    Thanks very much I owe you what a great service I had briefly called at the auto electrical but he said he was to busy and would have to trace but gave me a clew the power was off. I listened to several videos until I found yours and realized how it works and what i had to remove and check and found the pump was seized. I found the fuse replaced it and bingo the pump is now working. Excellent service I am a plumber and I have some items I must put on the internet probably shoot myself in the foot but I think your service is excellent. Keep it up

    My Cassette is a different model, but your video gives me some ideas where to go next. I didn't realize there is a fuse down below above the cassette area. I'll start there and follow what you did. Thanks for the video. Quality wasn't great, don't apologize for it though. It is good enough to get me going. Thanks again.

    The pumps on all Thetfords seize after a while and turning the impeller usually works. But when they're dead they're easy to change, only two wires, use shrink rubber over the wires to seal against water. Any submersible pump will do, don't spend loads on a Thetford one! Also the level indicator works with two magnets, one in the tank itself connected to a float.

    Thanks for this video. I'm sure it will be helpful in the future. In the mean time, I'm having trouble with my cassette toilet and maybe you might have an idea. The pump seems to be working as I can here the whirring when I push the blue flush button. The problem I'm having is that when I go to put the water in the tank through the "water in" tube, it just sits there and doesn't go anywhere and the glass indicator tube on the right of the cassette opening doesn't fill with water. I'm not sure how this is supposed to work as I don't think it's worked at all (bought the popup used but hadn't been used much as I saw the tube caps in a drawer and they've never been put on the toilet. Anyway, it doesn't seem to be taking on any water when I try to put water in the intake tube that swings out from underneath the toilet. Any clue why this may seem to be blocked? Thanks in advance.

    hi again my flush has now stopped again but checked the fuse and it still OK ! would you have any other suggestions on what I should do again ?

    • @snobrdr101
      @snobrdr101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DENVER JOSEPH CARROLL Despite the manner in which I handled my circuit board they can be very delicate. I should not have been handling it with wet hands or pressing the activation switch with wet hands either. That being said I would check the voltage coming from the board to the motor with a multi meter. Although information is limited there should be approx 12 volts going to the pump.
      If it is getting 12 volts then the pump could be completely bad and in need of replacement.

    Oh yes, I just heard you say that your hands get blue!! You DON'T put the blue in the clean water, that's what blocks the pump up. Blue go's in the waste tank pink in the clean water, tut,tut.

    • @snobrdr101
      @snobrdr101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have since learned not to put the "blue stuff" in there. Or some people even recommend a tiny mixture of blue stuff with water. about a 1:20 ratio but yes, I will not be putting pure "blue stuff" in there anymore.
