The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian.
Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that brought Celine Dion to WW fame). He is also now the producer of Dimash for his US career.
When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics.
Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels).
One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests:

I watched the entire From Lara with Love special on TH-cam yesterday. It is a tour de force, from poppy dance songs, to a cover of White Christmas, to the gut wrenching emotional performances it is truly unbelievable. And how she is able to use her instrument like that for an hour or two is a total mystery to me.
Take the time to watch her - 'En Toute Intimité' concert in Paris. Arguably her best.

Her 1999 Lara with Love concert was a unique assemblage of brilliant performances but it would be great for reactors to get with it and move forward. Lara has a fantastic repertoire of about 200 concert performances and recordings on TH-cam up to at least 2018 with, from 2010 effectively a new series of classics composed with the Russian, Igor Krutoy.
And Phil, she even has a song in Portuguese, titled Meu Grande Amor. She is a star in brazil 😀

History of this show produced in Montréal late 90's by Sony Music and Lara Fabian's Team. It was supposed to be air on PBS nationally 90 minutes TV special to promote the next voice of Sony Music who had signed her for 2 albums. BUT..... Céline Dion's Team did not liked it and put pressure on Sony Music to not promote her or else..... so it was never showed in the USA or anywhere.... Of this album with no radio play , also supposely blocked by Céline"s group she still sold 3 million albums and went back to Europe broken hearted... About 15 years ago Lara's Team decided to release this show on the web.... Her second album with Sony has many big songs from Lara, again never release in the USA only in Canada and Europe....bunch of A Hole...This story alone would make a great movie.

Currently, When people get married they are much more likely to get a divorce than a healthy lifetime marriage. It’s been a while since I’ve checked, but last time I checked the ratio was around 60% failed to 40% who stayed married (well at least 10 years of marriage). American’s take divorce for granted & fully see zero problem breaking their vows.
