Lara's voice is like liquid gold, she is phenomenal, always singing with her heart. In all of her musics she makes us feel like she is telling a story to each one personaly. We become her confidents and that is amazing. For me, one of the best female singers in the world.

I must have watched hundreds of Lara's performances, and an embarrassing amount of reactions. One singer or coach, I forget, said she's not afraid to sacrifice her beauty to properly convey the emotions or hit notes in a healthy way. In the more raw emotional songs she doesn't care if her face is all scrunched up, or her mouth is wide open, ya know? Performers these days practice their singing in the mirror so they always look IG worthy at every moment. Anyway, enough rambling, thank you for this reaction!

Lara's songs ( and she has a wide repertoire lasting thirty or so years) are all so expressive that time and again my heart connects with her and is lifted by her. I have listened over many years to singers from around the world, young and old, but I could name on only three or four fingers others who inspire me as much .

I have watched two of your reactions to Lara. I love the way you break down the different elements of her performances and you're right, not only has she mastered her singing voice but she is a fantastic performer. It's hard to believe how good she is just watching her. Like you I think, I had not even heard of her until recently. How somebody that good for decades never became popular in America I'll never know. She is one of a kind and I'm so glad you've found Lara too. You are pretty entertaining yourself and I appreciate the knowledge you bring in your analysis of her performances. Keep it up, love your shows.

We can all thank Celine Dion's team for undermining her career in the US. This concert was actually filmed in Montreal for distribution in the US on PBS as part of introducing her to us. She was making appearances, like the Today show and late night interviews. But because she scared the crap out of Celine's team they forced Sony to push her into the dance-pop genre. She did have a huge hit with I Will Love Again and it's a great fun song, but it's hardly all she is. So of course it's not what she wanted or who she is, so the deal fell apart and she returned to Canada and France pretty broken and even suicidal. It was a dark period, but she came through and made her album Nue, arguably one of her best. The concert for Nue is awesome and huge love fest with her fans showing her how much she's loved when they sing Je T'aime to her, taking it over and surprising her. Pas Sans Toi is another really beautiful moment. Parce Que Tu Pars is about the suicidal feelings and is a powerful song and performance. One of my all time favorite songs of hers. I wish more reactors would react to it. But there you go, that's why we don't know her like we should. She talks about all of this in interviews.
The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian.
Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that brought Celine Dion to WW fame). He is also now the producer of Dimash for his US career.
When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics.
Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels).
One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests:

- Josh Groban (his cover made this song famous in US, she is her friend and role model and he made several duets with her),

🇨🇦 You may already have been told this by Eric Sicard, but I would remind you that Lara is a fully trained Lyric Soprano (and still travels to Belgium to train) ! The music and the lyrics that she plays with, are a Master Class !
Each syllable of each word, in every line of every lyric is sung clearly and completely, no matter which language she sings in ! My own recommendation at this depth of the rabbit hole is "Caruso", followed by "You're not from here" !

This Broken Vow was the first Lara's song that I listened to many years ago, after I heard Jackie Evancho sang Imaginer. Since then I have listened to this Lara's Broken Vow countless times, and still feeling the impact of the song it gives to me until now. Lara sings many other songs (many of her own writings) that are as impressive and touching as Broken Vow.
