I like the walking away and coming back. It feels like part of the story and the song. She's telling us the story of her heartache, and her walking off to me feels like she's almost done, but then she gets hit by her own emotion again, and she needs to turn around, she needs to get out this gruelling line "I'd give away my soul to hold you once again, and never let this story end." It's like a volta in a poem. Until that time she is talking about letting him go, letting him fly...and then she comes back with the juxtaposition of never wanting to let him go. It's reason against heart, or reality versus fantasy. It's the double edged sword of love, I suppose.

Lara has nothing to envy Celine on the vocal side: they both have some similarities in the vowel pronunciation, sharing french as their native language, but Lara’s tone is less nasal, is fuller and more resonant. I believe when she walks away from audience, she is intentionally giving us a chance to feel something more than her words. We see that she is using up the space to show she is stepping away from that relationship but still has something important to say.
Lara does everything deliberately. It is almost as if she is done arguing and then comes back for tge final word. That almost squeak also comes through in her performance of Voire un amie pleurer, in the En toute intimité concert. She is perfection.

I like the little 'walk away' moment. I think it's used to great dramatic effect. It's like she's composing herself and then comes back with renewed vigor. And of course coming back showcasing the bouncy hair for added attitude! 🤩
Lara Fabian was born gifted with such a talent for singing. PLUS, she was very well trained by the best opera teachers from Belgium and Italy, but she decided to sing pop songs, she also has the knowledge to sing in operatic way, she studied from her 8 to 18 at the Belgium Conservatory of Music (there she learned Bel Canto, piano [she composes her own songs on piano), she started singing professionaly at the age of 15, in 1985, her first video clipe came when she turned 16, in 1986 and her first world wide album was released at the begin of 1990. Then since 1998 she kept having vocal lessons with her Italian teacher untill nowdays, she has two vocal teachers (From Belgium and Italy) and she keeps having vocal lessons at least 3 times per week on-line. Lara also has been working as a vocal coach on The Voice Canada, she already worked as the vocal coach at the Star Academy program in France from 2004 /2008. At this point (of the story) Lara's emotions took over...there was more to tell, so she had to muster courage to say it but say it more forcefully. It is the very beautiful, very strong but velvety voice in all its 4.5 octaves of the lyric soprano Lara Fabian....Endless breath and breath control with seamless connection of words and sentences ... She can manipulate her voice as she wants . What is also striking is the large orchestra that remains in the background and lets her strong voice prevail .... In contrast to other singers where the singing voice disappears in the music. .Lara's voice is at its best only with the accompaniment of a piano, guitar or violin....
I am a fan of Celine...........went to her Vegas show 5 times and would go again -- that being said to compare Lara Fabian to Celine Dion is a stretch to say the least............Lara has no ( my term ) nasal overtone but rather a buttery caramel richness that is at the same time both warm and powerful - and - Lara is unmatched by Celine or anyone else in her live performances..

Covers are an interesting subject. A quite controversial and divisive, contradictory at times. It all depends on intent and recognizing the autorship. When a cover is done respectfully and the performer recognizes the original author, especially if they give it their own spin, the cover can be recognited as a tribute to original, but, unfortunately, mostly some take some other's work to boost themselves. I totally understand what you're saying, also as a songwriter myself I understand on a deep level. But let's look at it from another perspective, through Lara, and the very important skill of making a cover song your own. Her biggest example, Je Suis Malade. It is the ultimate example of making a song your own. People always assume it's her song, based on her own personal experience, and fans are good and respectful about correcting them. She also did the same thing to Love By Grace. Who knows that it was written by Dave Loggins for Wynonna Judd? I didn't know that for a long time, I was sure it must be hers. Lara makes us all fall in love with her and we feel very protective of her because she gives us so much on a personal, intimate level, so your feelings are relatable. It can be frustrating also because we know she should be so better well known and appreciated than she is, and all of that plays into it as well. Covers done well are tricky business, and all we can do is politely correct people while appreciating the skill of the one reimagining the song.

Lara does everything deliberately. It is almost as if she is done arguing and then comes back for tge final word. That almost squeak also comes through in her performance of Voire un amie pleurer, in the En toute intimité concert. She is perfection.

Lara Fabian was born gifted with such a talent for singing. PLUS, she was very well trained by the best opera teachers from Belgium and Italy, but she decided to sing pop songs, she also has the knowledge to sing in operatic way, she studied from her 8 to 18 at the Belgium Conservatory of Music (there she learned Bel Canto, piano [she composes her own songs on piano), she started singing professionaly at the age of 15, in 1985, her first video clipe came when she turned 16, in 1986 and her first world wide album was released at the begin of 1990. Then since 1998 she kept having vocal lessons with her Italian teacher untill nowdays, she has two vocal teachers (From Belgium and Italy) and she keeps having vocal lessons at least 3 times per week on-line. Lara also has been working as a vocal coach on The Voice Canada, she already worked as the vocal coach at the Star Academy program in France from 2004 /2008. She speaks fluently and composes in 4 languages (English, Spanish, Italian and French), but she is able to speak and understand a little bit of Russian, Dutch and Portuguese, she already sang live in 12 languages. For me that walk away is that moment when you're losing your self control while you're in this process of trying to get closure and you just want to get out of this situation but you realize that no So she turns back around and almost yells at us saying what she would have liked but Then regaining that self-control and completing the closure.
This is one of my very top songs, and the only reason is because Lara sings it. In fact this is the song that introduced me to Lara Fabian many years ago.

Firstly, about that move of Lara moving towards the Orchestra and back...
At this point (of the story) Lara's emotions took over...there was more to tell, so she had to muster courage to say it but say it more forcefully.
That's all part of the brilliance of her performance because, guess what. When she returned to take up position, she had the attention of her audience too, exactly where they needed to be in her story. It's like "Hey, are you going to pay attention!"
That is masterclass.

Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, ....
In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
• she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total
• she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for 200+ songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
• she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
• she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens.
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, her father is flemish, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( her grandfather is from Detroit). She was raised in sicilia first then in Belgium so she speaks both italian and french as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory.
She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada.
She had been living for years in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship. She just moved
back to Italy a few months ago (temporarily?).
She became very famous in Quebec and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).

But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan.

The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian.
Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that brought Celine Dion to WW fame). He is also now the producer of Dimash for his US career.
When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics.
Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels).

It is not the voice or the way of singing of Celine Dion...
It is the very beautiful, very strong but velvety voice in all its 4.5 octaves of the lyric soprano Lara Fabian....Endless breath and breath control with seamless connection of words and sentences ... She can manipulate her voice as she wants .
What is also striking is the large orchestra that remains in the background and lets her strong voice prevail .... In contrast to other singers where the singing voice disappears in the music.
.Lara's voice is at its best only with the accompaniment of a piano, guitar or violin....
I am a fan of Celine...........went to her Vegas show 5 times and would go again -- that being said to compare Lara Fabian to Celine Dion is a stretch to say the least............Lara has no ( my term ) nasal overtone but rather a buttery caramel richness that is at the same time both warm and powerful - and - Lara is unmatched by Celine or anyone else in her live performances..

My take on her walking away is showing her strength in the song to close her eyes and walk away and quickly turns back once again to beg for another chance.
Josh Groban met Lara when they both recorded songs for the Steven Spielberg’s “A.I.” movie. He became a fan and told later she has become one of his role models.

Walking away was part of the performance and very effective in demonstrating letting go with love. I like Celine and have seen her live, but Lara is far more effective in performance. She’s the best performing artist I’ve seen in my lifetime and I’m in my 70s.
Majority of people think it's a Josh Groban's song. Even in media you can see it reported to be his song. It annoys me how superficial and uneducated people, especially the ones who are supposed to ''spread the knowledge'' are. Selfabsorbed, allknowing....
If you ask 100 random people, a lot more will know Josh Groban than Lara. Don't get me wrong, I'm not slandering Josh, he is not responsible for people's shallowness, he is a great singer, I really like him.
BTW, I learned about him because of this song. I wanted to hear it so I typed it in, browser gave me Josh's version. I listened to it and I must say I liked it. He performed it really well. And he never appropriated it, he just performed it and did it justice. It's just the people who are too superficial and (self)uneducated who wrongly attribute it to him.

Being an author myself, a totally different kind, it is a bit of a toutchy subject to me. Some people don't see it as, perhaps, I do.
Covers are an interesting subject. A quite controversial and divisive, contradictory at times. It all depends on intent and recognizing the autorship. When a cover is done respectfully and the performer recognizes the original author, especially if they give it their own spin, the cover can be recognited as a tribute to original, but, unfortunately, mostly some take some other's work to boost themselves.
OTOH, there are some covers that became more popular than the originals.
Maybe that could be an idea for you to work on on your channel, too.

I totally understand what you're saying, also as a songwriter myself I understand on a deep level. But let's look at it from another perspective, through Lara, and the very important skill of making a cover song your own. Her biggest example, Je Suis Malade. It is the ultimate example of making a song your own. People always assume it's her song, based on her own personal experience, and fans are good and respectful about correcting them. She also did the same thing to Love By Grace. Who knows that it was written by Dave Loggins for Wynonna Judd? I didn't know that for a long time, I was sure it must be hers. Lara makes us all fall in love with her and we feel very protective of her because she gives us so much on a personal, intimate level, so your feelings are relatable. It can be frustrating also because we know she should be so better well known and appreciated than she is, and all of that plays into it as well. Covers done well are tricky business, and all we can do is politely correct people while appreciating the skill of the one reimagining the song.
