Hi Eric, about this relationship, I read that Walter, beyond his talent, was someone toxic at that time for Lara because he manipulated her as well as Mariah because he was playing on both sides ... A few years later, he said he really loved Lara but that his "artistic" relationship with Mariah and some pressure from Celine to have the songs first could only lead to their breakup...

Not only does she have one of the most stunningly beautiful voices on the planet but her skill is next level. Lara 'inhabits' the storyline of each song with such power nuance and micro-intentionality she takes the listener on a profound journey.

I'll have to look up the concert and name of song because it escapes me right now...... "Dream with Me"...PBS Concert.....Imaginer, is the name of the song. That's the French word. It is beautiful!

First time listener to Lara and what strikes me first is that not only has she had classical training (she’s very operatic), but that she’s also a genius. She sings from her diaphragm and she sings from her heart. What appears easy to her in songs just coming to her is a reflection of her brilliance rather than some magical gift. Lol, other mere mortals don’t have songs coming to them so easily and have to work hard at it. She doesn’t realise how special she is. The reason the song sounds familiar to you, Didy, is that the music track is reminiscent of Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op.18: Adagio sostenuto by Sergei Rachmaninoff. You too must be a bit of genius also to pick up on that. 🙂
@@Laraine3 and you are right: Lara has 10 years of classical training and continues to receive voice lessons several times a week even today. When it comes to singing the emotions, you should check her “Je suis malade“ (Didy did a reaction to it). This is considered by many as THE absolute masterclass in conveying emotions. She is currently coaching some young singers on TV and she told them recently “to sing deep emotions without impacting your voice, sing the emotions in your head, feel the emotions in your heart, but keep your throat free”. It seems easy for her 😀
Hello Didy, Lara is a pure gem. she wrote the lyrics to this song and she knows how to use them to move everyone who hears her sing. This woman is magic and you know why now she was the muse of this other genius who is Dimash. She has had a great career and continues to perform, she is preparing to work on a new album before retiring according to her latest statements. She wants to open her singing school. If she had been able to break into the American market, this woman would have sold more than 100 million albums, but that's how it is and today she is fully happy. I learned last night that Celine Dion and she had spoken recently and Celine finally told her all the respect she had for her. It's never too late to recognize his immense talent. She really deserves it because I think her failure in the United States was painful for her. The rest of the planet has benefited!! In any case, you are like us, trapped by Lara. I know, it’s a shame about her failure in the us. But, know she has a massive following and finally recognized in the US, thanks to you Tube and the reactors.
I don't think she failed, I think she chose not to pursue that path. I'm from the UK, and remember being in a Virgin Megastore in NYC around 2000, had never heard of her before, listened to her album, and just had to buy it, I was sure she would be the next Celine Dion. I think she was either badly advised, her label pushed her in the wrong direction just as she had released her first album in English, which was well received in the US. She chose to tour in Europe and the rest is history. A great singer, a great talent, but I just don't think she wanted the limelight, she seems a very sensitive and caring person and not someone who wants to be a superstar.
@@mattpotter8725 Yes I completely agree with you, but that does not prevent that at that time, she had a bad experience of this whole story and the fact that she was not able to demonstrate to the American public her work as an artist. . Be well!!
@@ildefonsobenitez6624 I appreciate what you say, but to me this is a bit of an odd response in a way. Many artists are very well known in Europe, make a lot of money, without "breaking" the US, some are on the fringes, or did the groundwork, but are considered one hit wonders in the US (and even the UK). It's a very Anglo centric view to think she had to concentrate on America. Maybe she just didn't want to. You'd think it it was what she'd really wanted she'd have really pushed for it. I think she was badly advised or pushed down a route that concentrated on her core market, where she was from, with a view to going back to the US after, which never happened, she'd missed the moment. As a Brit I wondered what had happened to her. We didn't have social media and the internet wasn't what it is now so it was as though she just disappeared, when in all reality she didn't.
Great reaction as always my friend , it's ok i still got tears after all those years . Lara is the real diva that never acted like one, such a class act. Didy you really got a good ear the music has a resemblance to piano concerto no 2 in c minor, op. 18:Adagio sostenuto by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
No criticism intended michael H., I have also heard that Broken Vow's music is from the second movement of Rachmaninoff's c minor concerto. But I only hear tiny bits of resemblance. For instance, music to the phrase "Tell me her name I want to know" could certainly be heard as similar to some of the movement's oboe phrases. But to my ear, for any of BV's melody lines to match, you would need to change the key, leave some notes out, add some notes in, & alter Rachmaninoff's phrasing & rhythm. But this is part of the song's lore now, and I'm curious if you know how the comparison started--or if you noticed it as you listened to the music. For example, the song "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen actually lifted sections from the concerto, and a successful lawsuit deemed that song to be copyright infringement
Thank you for your sincere emotional reaction. I have followed Lara since the nineties. I get emotional every time I hear her. I have subscribed, and I look forward to your reactions. Also thank you for letting the song play out without all the interruptions. Enjoy your journey with Lara.
Thank you for an emotional and wonderful reaction. As far as the melody goes... Yes, there are lines in the chorus section that runs similar to "You raise me up", but that's about it as far as I can tell.
Lara has remarkable mastery of emotions in her interpretation between the contexts of the lines. Her sweet voice is so flowing with no flatness at all but rhythmical. And the groanings were put into melodical pitches of accurate notes. Thus I believe that she's well trained singer.
I can surely relate ro this song as I'm sure quite a few others can. It just could have been written by me of i were that gifted but it sure brings emotions into view of days gone by. Smh. Why do we have to hurt so much for love!?
Hehe. You know Diddy, that a singer makes an impact on you when you don't dare to click on links in the comments here, because you KNOW what it will do to you. It's an emotional strain, and one I'm not ALWAYS prepared to take on tbh. That is my way of acknowledging and recognizing a very special artist. Great reaction !
Thanks Didy, reacting to perfection. There is no other word to describe that performance. It will last forever for people to admire and to feel and to be moved by. This is "insurmountable". I'd say to every singer in the world, skip this song. Don't do it. No one else in this world can express that motion and sing with such perfection at the same time. (Not even in studio). It's funny for someone like me and a lot of other people, who does not find this kind of music their cup of tea, but still is obsessed with her singing and live performing. I know i am, and been over 20 years. Looks like you're in your way too. There's no coming back from that road. I had my musical genes from my parents but i don't think that's needed to be in love with this lady. She have something in her personality, almost like somekind of magic radiates from her. From her eyes and her voice. Not to speak her smile. That is probably the most beautiful smile i have ever seen. But all in all, nice to see once again someone step in that path of finding Lara. Thanks Didy for that nice honest reaction. Keep it coming.
Diddy, I just watched your reaction to Lara's masterpiece performance of broken of Broken Vow, and seeing you become so emotionally involved shows me what a sensitive person you are, and that you have a love for great music. Didy, I read all the comments and what a wealth of information they passed on to you. I'm putting two and two together and I can see how the song 'My Heart Will Go On' from the movie, Titanic, could have been Lara's song instead of Celine's and launched her USA career which really never did happen. Besides the love angle's in all of this, politics also showed it's ugly face. But. I'm so happy for her because she has, and is having, a wonderful life and getting the recognition she so richly deserves from today's audiences, particularly in the USA.
Interesting enough, you mention this Celine’s song on this reaction: Walter Afanassiev was the producer of this Celine hit, the composer of Broken Vow and apparently the man who betrayed Lara and inspired her lyrics.
@@legitor513 yes a concert for tv broadcast with reduced audience. That would have been ever better as you would have been in front rows to attend this marvel 😀
Didy, I feel you man. Witchcraft, sorcery, spells flying everywhere emanating from the Sorceress Queen, long may she reign. Now charmed, we cannot take out eyes off of her. Almost compelled to watch, unable to form sentences. When done, she smiles and saves me...for she had me where she wanted me...engaged in the wretchedness of betrayal. A dark place. I need the smile at the end to bring me back to the light, to forgiveness, exactly where she was purposefully leading me. She lifts her spell with that smile and I wipe a moist eye or two...and play it again.

Lara and Dimash are therapy for the soul...You must listen "Ti amo cosi ", it's a trio: Lara, Dimash and Aida. Greetings from România!
Dimash is far too way from lara if you compare the two. While lara is full emotion
Thank you. Brilliant and beautiful !
Thank you too!
Lara best female artist❤❤❤❤
This woman is Amazing.
Great reaction as always my friend , it's ok i still got tears after all
those years .
Lara is the real diva that never acted like one, such a class act.
Didy you really got a good ear the music has a resemblance to piano concerto no 2 in c minor, op. 18:Adagio sostenuto by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Thank you michael H. I will sit down an listen through it when i get the chance. 💕
No criticism intended michael H., I have also heard that Broken Vow's music is from the second movement of Rachmaninoff's c minor
concerto. But I only hear tiny bits of resemblance. For instance, music to the phrase "Tell me her name I want to know" could certainly be
heard as similar to some of the movement's oboe phrases. But to my ear, for any of BV's melody lines to match, you would need to change
the key, leave some notes out, add some notes in, & alter Rachmaninoff's phrasing & rhythm. But this is part of the song's lore now, and
I'm curious if you know how the comparison started--or if you noticed it as you listened to the music. For example, the song "All By Myself"
by Eric Carmen actually lifted sections from the concerto, and a successful lawsuit deemed that song to be copyright infringement
welcome to the universe full of emotions of Lara 😘👍
Thank you, a little warning would have been nice 😉😁😂
Absolutamente conmovedora.
La música, la letra, la voz y sobre todo la interpretación.
Saludos cordiales desde Chile.
- “You're Not From Here” (Lara’s original song) th-cam.com/video/Vv8XFXKXRLI/w-d-xo.html
is the next step. You won't be disappointed.
It's on my list 😉
@@didymalgia sure, one of the best performances of The living legend Lara
Thank you for your sincere emotional reaction. I have followed Lara since the nineties. I get emotional every time I hear her. I have subscribed, and I look forward to your reactions. Also thank you for letting the song play out without all the interruptions. Enjoy your journey with Lara.
I just hope that in my next life I come back with that talent to write and sing music that touches people to the bottom of their soul that way.
There is only one word to make justice to this performance.......it is SUBLIME.......
Only those who have been blessed with true love know why Didy cryed
Concierto para Piano Nº 2 en Do menor, Op. 18: Adagio sostenuto, del compositor Sergei Rachmaninoff, Broken Vow is inspired by this music
Such and honest and sincere reaction. No words necessary when it comes from the soul!!!
💕
I can surely relate ro this song as I'm sure quite a few others can. It just could have been written by me of i were that gifted but it sure brings emotions into view of days gone by. Smh. Why do we have to hurt so much for love!?
Didy Check out " I Will Love Again " Her song, released in 1999 and reached no. 39 on Top 100 billboard in USA.
Whenever I’m in need of rescue, brought down to reality. Emotionally and mentally. She’s my go to. Thank you again for reacting to her. 🇧🇷🙏🏼💚
Thank you my friend 💕
Love from France !
lara is just amazing.......
We like what we see your sooo sweet💖💕💝
Merci pour votre ecoute🎉
Ho molto rispetto per questa signora perche e rispettosa e grazie mille per aver scelto questo bellissimo video
Didy.....sending you hugs from Australia 🤗
Bear hugs returned from Norway 😁😁
What a beautiful voice… captures you and takes you on a journey….❤️ thanks Didy
Glad you enjoyed it
Straight in to the heart...❤ Thanks for reacting to this Angel.
Thank you Didy, you are the real deal and it’s a nice to cry along side you, I’m grateful too!
You're the best! 💕💕
Diddy, I just watched your reaction to Lara's masterpiece performance of broken of Broken Vow, and seeing you become so emotionally involved shows me what a sensitive person you are, and that you have a love for great music. Please know that I am also similarly affected by Lara's songs. I love that you made the classical connection. I only did after you talked about it. I just want you to know that I will follow you on your journey exploring Lara. Thank you.
Thank you so much for all the kind words Phil Piper, they are much appreciated 💕💕That classical connection was just something that stuck to me throughout the song and I had to adress it. I'm glad i was right 😁
Thanks for sharing.
I just discovered your channel tonight and I’m glad I did. I binged all of your Lara reactions. You react as I do. She touches my soul. I appreciate your honest insights
Thank you so much for the kind words Rose ❤️❤️
"Je suis malade" should be your next reaction and then ",You're not from here". Just amazing!!
You didn't lose it, Didy. You heard it!
Exelente reacción! Hermosa canción y presentación increíble de Lara Fabián! Todo lo que canta lo combierte en magia,única en todas los aspectos, fuera de este mundo!Gracías!
Beautiful reaction! Thank you very much ❤❤❤
Merci XO
💕💕
Another great reaction, my friend
What would I give to have been at that concert?
The same for me. But since I ve learned that it was a concert for TV
@@legitor513 yes a concert for tv broadcast with reduced audience. That would have been ever better as you would have been in front rows to attend this marvel 😀
I'd give away my soul hehehe
Didy, I feel you man. Witchcraft, sorcery, spells flying everywhere emanating from the Sorceress Queen, long may she reign. Now charmed, we cannot take out eyes off of her. Almost compelled to watch, unable to form sentences. When done, she smiles and saves me...for she had me where she wanted me...engaged in the wretchedness of betrayal. A dark place. I need the smile at the end to bring me back to the light, to forgiveness, exactly where she was purposefully leading me. She lifts her spell with that smile and I wipe a moist eye or two...and play it again.
40+ years of listening to all genres of music from folk/country/ Rap/ R&B/ pop/heavy metal/ calypso/opera/jazz and in my opinion and feelings Lara Fabian has The Most Beautiful Female singing voice I’ve ever heard 🎤💗 (Karen 💞Carpenter also)

grazie mille per questo bellissimo video
Oh dude, I totally feel you! Trust me! Most songs she sings I'm like that! And I have felt that, so for me, it hits deep.
I just don't know anymore Didy....cannot listen to the mainstream "music" as they call it anymore... between Angelina, Lara, Aurora...a couple others I am thoroughly spoiled now on "Real" music. Thanks for another wonderful share with us.
I cried with you. I love your reaction. I have experienced what she was singing about and it is pain that can only be worse if you lose a child or someone else that you love very much. I have heard it many times and it gets me everytime.
I know she composed herself this son and gave it to josh graban, a very good American tenor. He sings this very well but it is her song
Hello Didy, I so enjoy your commentary, it’s so sincere. And I absolutely love the moon background…., it’s so calming. Now about this beautiful individual by the name of Lara 😄👌🥰❤️, you feel like all of her humongous loyal fan base!!
I found this treasure in January of 2021….by accident, or perhaps by a miracle, 😆👌. Since then, I simply have to listen to her each day, several times, she’s become my vitamin! I follow anything I can find about her. At this time I’m absolutely in love with her song “ Il Ne Manquaint Que Toi”, I HAVE to listen to it before I go to bed…Absolutely beautifully done. Roughly translated it’s about missing someone that should be there.
Anyway, I agree with your opinion, she’s someone who puts me in a magical place when I listen to her. When I watch her many videos, I travel with her. It almost seems that she’s singing only to me, and takes me in many journey’s with each song. She sings with her eyes, her whole body….
A true story teller, as she believes in many worthwhile causes. Ah yes, a class act she is even today at 52, still sings the way of yesteryear.
Thanks again for you input, much appreciated. I truly enjoyed all the comments here. 👏👏👏🥰❤️
Thank you for your heartfelt reaction🥰
Adagio is a clasical instrumental piece by Albinoni
No. He didn't finish it. That's why it's often called "Adagio for Albinoni". For, not by.
However, because it's also known as "Albinoni's Adagio" many mistakenly think he wrote it.
Hi Didi, great reaction for Friday afternoon.
Imagine how Barbra Straisand's songs would sound in Lara's performance, for example "The way we were"🤩
Have a nice weekend
I think it would sound like heaven... I must admit that I am not especially fond of Barbara, but i might like the songs better with another vocalist 😉
Then this is not a dream, it exists and you should look at these:
- Yentl Medley : Papa can you hear me / Piece of sky th-cam.com/video/zW8lalHMwxk/w-d-xo.html
- Evergreen : th-cam.com/video/I604AU2_shg/w-d-xo.html
Lara is a fan of Barbra since she is a child.
And Barbra loves her interpretations very much. She also covered this song Broken Vow from Lara but apparently only a few times in one of her tour and it was not recorded.
Lara has a very funny story about what did happen when Barbra called her to get the charts for Broken Vow

I was not sure that by responding to Didy’s response you would get notified. So I decided to wrote this one also
@@ericsicard910 Thank you, it's divine. I've been on my mind with my dad every day since 1999😞

So, you see why Dimash has had a crush on her since about age 12?
❤❤❤❤❤
Love ❤️ your reaction to Lara. You are absolutely awesome 👏. She sings with full emotion and passion. Your next reaction should be her duet with Johnny Halliday. The name of the song is “ Requiem pour un fou “. You will witness the marvellous passions of them. Great reaction. Thank you from Vietnam 🇻🇳. Please check it out. You won’t be disappointed !
Beautiful reaction💗
Glad you enjoyed
The accompaniment of the melody calls to mind Mozart's Abendempfindung. However, Mozart's melody is totally different.
I heard Josh Grobans version and it was beautiful❤😊
Another great reaction from you. While I’m not an expert in classical music, it doesn’t remind me of any classical performance I’m familiar with. Perhaps it’s just the beautiful classical backing that makes you think of another composition.
Irregardless, it was beautiful, and I may have to add Lara Fabian to my playlists.
I've just subscribed. Great reactions😊. Seeing your taste in music, I'm pretty sure you will appreciate Hua Chenyu as well!!. Start off with Fake Munk or Nunshucs - you will NOT regret. And I agree with others here: please do Ti amo cosi !! Enjoy👍😊
Great men also cries
You should check out Love By Grace, which was from the same album this song is from and for me was the other standout song from the album (others are good too, as you've already seen, but this one and Broken Vow are amazing songs).
To clarify the 1999/2000 question about this concert:
- the album "Lara Fabian", which serves as the basis for this show, 4th album from Lara but 1st with english songs, targeting english and international audience, was released on November 1999.
- My understanding is that the concert was recorded in December 1999
- But then it was broadcasted by PBS in 2000 and released in VHS also in 2000.
That makes sense. Thank you so much Eric 💕💕
I have the DVD of this concert and it's one of my prized objects. The entire concert is a masterpiece.

Title is ''Lou'' and its written from her for her daughter : th-cam.com/video/TUtrbgtdMSo/w-d-xo.html
Hi Didy.
I looked forward to seeing one of your reaction again.
Thank you for this great reaction about one of my favorite Lara's song and performance.
In this performance, she sings like an angel: there is another performance where she makes you feel like you were in heaven. m.th-cam.com/video/wR-52dc1wvg/w-d-xo.html
This song is never suggested, but to me it shows an other amazing part of her talent.
Ti Amo Cosi, you get the best of all worlds. Dimash, Lara, Igor Krutoy and a few other surprises. Dimash has covered many of her songs and she sings them with Igor, too.
Hi! Thank you for another grand reaction to Lars. The only other singer who brings me to tears is Angelina Jordan. She and Lara are at the very top, of my "must watch and listen"videos.
I recommend two more "must react to" performances by Lara. Beware, they, too, will bring tears to your eyes.

Hello Diddy, It's a long song and yet too short. Lara sings so moving. Wonderful.
And again a song that I know but under a different name. It was sung by Jackie Evancho as "Imaginer" at a very notable concert in 2011 when she was just 11 years old.
I suggest you listen to it as a comparison. You will be impressed - very impressed. Do you know Jackie Evancho? You haven't reacted to any of her songs yet. She sang the US national anthem at Donald Trump's inauguration. She was just too young to understand that you shouldn't sing for him.
- Imaginer (from Dream With Me In Concert) - th-cam.com/video/hX3s2v6qGYo/w-d-xo.html - this is a great concert of her - wow, wow, wow - nothing more to say
- Pie Jesu - th-cam.com/video/IbjWz_WIhSE/w-d-xo.html
