Tuned Maybach 57 - 625hp BiTurbo V12 Limo! (POV Binaural Audio)

  • This 2004 Maybach 57 has been tuned by RENNtech and now produces 625hp and 745 lb-ft of torque. The smooth 5.5L Biturbo V12 delivers this power in a smooth constant wave throughout the rev range.
We do, however experience a Limp Mode fault when the kick down switch is depressed at the end of the throttle. Luckily we're able to restart and carry on.

Very much appreciate your viewpoint on such cars. Its relaxing to listen to you talk about them in a way I don’t hear many other people doing, not just straight line speed or performance, but also how they feel and respond while driving. Keep up the good work and I wish you continued success

Gotta love the subtlety of that engine, very understated, very smooth, and is accelerating faster than many sports cars. Though I would definitely agree with the sentiment, if you want a 20 year old luxury car and don't want to have to worry about expensive parts and issues, get a used Lexus

I can feel the smooth wave of torque from here. A Maybach 57s is a dream car of mine, along with the CL65. I’ve driven a w220 s600, w221 s65 and 2 SLs with that 12cyl. The way they put down the power feels so weird at first. It’s like the trans is trying to dull all that power by slipping a lot. Something I wouldn’t mind getting used to. Gotta love a twelvie❤

My friend had a Cl600, he went flat broke on it.
just replacing the Sparks, not 12 but 24 because of Engine Management System..., and replacing special type Bobine.
Doing a donut, had to replace steering pump...
And I remember he also had a issue with the ABC suspension...

For all old cars, i use the 2x1 equation.
What's the expected cost? Can i afford twice as much?
If the answer is no, you've got yourself in a financial rollercoaster, with the anxiety of it not becoming a train wreck

    • @omostim2385
      @omostim2385 ปีที่แล้ว

@@skelejp9982 Ahh yes. A simple tune up is hella expensive. I’ve had a twin spark plug V6 and 2 V8 MBs of similar vintage. If I’ve had a coil pack problem I can just replace that one and keep going. The difference with the V12 is more spark plugs and one big $1000 plus dollar coil pack per side. Also the ABC system is tied to the power steering. You could delete the suspension system and get coilovers and a steering pump from a lesser Mercedes but it’s all gonna cost.

This shows you how far tech came because the Maybach in this video looks like an upgraded 2000 Mercedes S class. A lot of people will like these vintage 90s 2000s Mercedes with the leather, wood trim, non touchscreen gauges, car is broken in like a wallet. It seems like the new flagship Audi BMW Mercedes full size sedans worried about their 0-60 under 5 seconds showing people how far cars evolved.

I feel like these are the perfect candidates for EV conversion. Just as quiet, just as powerful, just as smooth, but most important part that is liable (nay, certain) to break on a Maybach is replaced with direct-drive goodness. Well, other than everything else about it... but such things are mere pleasantries on the repair bills.

3:00 I wonder if the car would have sold better with the classic Mercedes badge? To me, from a branding perspective, the three pointed star carries a bit more prestige than that Maybach M. I don't think most people outside of the car world really knew what that this was when it came out, and that obscurity may have influenced potential buyers.

    • @TerrasClip

And timing played against them, too
Fundamentally too similar to the W220 and by 2005 the W221 was out, the Maybachs got instantly outdated
