I am curious if insurance companies will give full coverage on a car like this. Parts so rare and expensive it could be tough to fully insure a car like this
I had a friend who followed the same logic for his blended family of 5 kids. Instead of a gas sucking SUV or mini-bland, he bought a used Lincoln limousine...not a super stretch but big enough for everyone with facing back seats and all the toys of a limo. He put a roof rack and hitch on it to tow a tent trailer. And he paid so much less that a used trendy SUV or van and parts are cheap like Russian tank scrap. Another great review. When are you going to tow a trailer with it? The world is waiting. 😆
I sat in one of these at the Meadowbrook Concourse De Elegance. At the time there was much to do about the rear seats being first class airline seats. Lots of stuff that breaks.
I knew his daughter was going to play the role of Queen sitting in the back like the owner perfectly. The bit with the partition and intercom was by far the best thing about the whole video. Just imagine when that girl grows up and wonders why everyone else is so "poor" and drives really awful cheap normal cars.
Great deal! At $40,000! It’s better to do this with these expensive high end cars. Wait some years then get one in good condition. Low or lower miles. This would be a car great for kids. You must have a very understanding wife to be able to do these kind of things. Usually wives don’t like it. Great deal! Love the color too. Inside and out.
I was lucky to have access to Wayne Newtons Chrysler Executive Limo, this was back in 1985 when he had property in the Poconos. Basically an extended k car, very cramped up front.

That is an awesome family hauler. My wife and daughter would own the back seat. Now when the first repair bill comes...Can't wait until Wizard starts pricing out Gultstream private jets once he gets paid. :)
Well, considering just a regular inspection could run you a million bucks or even more on a Gulfstream, I don't think Wizard, even with Hoovies maintenance work will ever be able to afford one. Probably cost nearly 2 million a year for the airplane and 4 pilots as employees to run one of those. Most large private jets have at lease 4 pilots so the airplane is never grounded for lack of crew.

I'm so attracted to Maybachs that I'll watch every video I come across. This was one exceptional car, a real beauty even at it's age (which says a lot for the design that it still looks like a late model car). They definitely move into the affordable category fairly quickly considering the depreciation on them, but well worth it when you can pick up a well cared for vehicle at a fraction of its original price. Enjoy the new wheels!
I once built a bunch of hidden compartments in Charlie Sheen's 62 for guns, and uh, pharmaceuticals? There's so much space in those things, and at least the armored ones are sublimely quiet on the road. A bit fiddly to work on, but on the up side almost everything is screwed together, very few of those little plastic clips that always break when removing panels for service.
Starting out with our first 3 kids we had a ford crown vic that was great for 3 kids. We ended upgrading to a minivan when we had a 4th kid. We for a few years used the vic as our commuter car for work. Once the vic had a bad rusted frame that broke apart and took out the steering we replaced it with a Toyota Camry that gets 10mpg better fuel economy.
And ....I walked......8-10 km. And my first car was a early 80s Ford escort with a hatch beaten in by a front end loader and no engine. Seriously. Bought a car 2 years younger from a guy who had the rear end beaten off in a drunk driving accident. Made the engine fit. Hockey pucks! Very useful! Wiring harness was different. Alligator clips are also useful. Lol.
The other guy bidding saw Hoovie throwing down a bid and figured that meant the car would need a 100k in repairs (at Wizard's price), and went "nope, I'm out.". Didn't even counter it.😂

@@boyracer3477 That reply wasn't to you. It was to wojak telling me the golden rule was no kids on YT. For the record, your advice was actually welcome and useful. :)
A power-operated glass partition is by far my most important feature when shopping for a tow vehicle. Thanks!
He should convert the car to electric too - I hear that does wonders for the towing ability
@@ksytube Well, it does already have the solar panel ...
@@ksytube
It'd increase the weight of the vehicle substantially, so it might not be worth it!
The tech might be old but I am amazed it depreciated so much when everything else is so awesome. But I’m sort of glad it did so we get this look at it. Stock up on spare parts unless you are going to sell it down the road. This is pretty cool and I wonder if JR is jealous
This is a great video hoovie. Your editing and style is really getting good.
The ending was golden 😂🙏
Hoovie gets dad of the year for sacrificing his own leg room for his kids luxury!!💪
I have been watching this channel, for years...
Today's episode was easily the most entertaining homage to the Good Life yet!
Well done to everyone involved 👏
I laughed out loud pretty damn hard when I saw the juice pouches and snacks in-between the back seats where billionaires would have hid their coke lol.
Now i see another use of the table ... :o
Drugs are bad
Well Coke or perhaps Pepsi ;-)
A great minivan, I agree. If I ever could convince my wife, I'd drive one, too. You just have to appreciate the engineering and attention to detail on these things, absolutely Fabolous. If they had a designer as good as the engineers, the brand would have put RR out of business. But everything happens for a reason. Enjoy the experience and don't just sell it again only because you have to pay 10 grand for a headlight, please. I sure hope this one will stick around.
Love it. Super cheap, ultra luxe old cars are 😎 Am currently considering getting a 20 year old Toyota Century…
I am curious if insurance companies will give full coverage on a car like this.
Parts so rare and expensive it could be tough to fully insure a car like this
For collision, it’s probably an agreed-upon indemnity (i.e. if it’s in an accident, $x amount is paid out and that’s that)
I had a friend who followed the same logic for his blended family of 5 kids.
Actually, the total production number of w240 was 3,300 units, not 2,000 units. 1,200 of them came to USA. Maybach 62 was also very popular in China.
I knew his daughter was going to play the role of Queen sitting in the back like the owner perfectly. The bit with the partition and intercom was by far the best thing about the whole video. Just imagine when that girl grows up and wonders why everyone else is so "poor" and drives really awful cheap normal cars.
I bet she's going to grow up to be a pretty grounded young lady. Looks like Hoovie and his wife are doing a good job.
When she started singing and Tyler raised the partition, you could see her arm reaching for the intercom button! 😂
Great deal! At $40,000! It’s better to do this with these expensive high end cars. Wait some years then get one in good condition. Low or lower miles. This would be a car great for kids. You must have a very understanding wife to be able to do these kind of things. Usually wives don’t like it. Great deal! Love the color too. Inside and out.
That roof was way ahead of it's time.
Yeah, but it also looks like foggy headlight lenses, IMO. The later SL models did it better 😅
In a very real sense. I was doing work on electrochromic glass at university in 2011. Crazy this car had it back in 2004.
I was lucky to have access to Wayne Newtons Chrysler Executive Limo, this was back in 1985 when he had property in the Poconos. Basically an extended k car, very cramped up front.
"Have a drink"
"I dont like gatorade"
Full on maybach lifestyle!
Hoov your daughter is so cute & you can tell she's smart as heck . You & your wife are doing a great job!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this review from start to finish! Was that Spock's Brain (and not The Enterprise Incident)?
Nice one, you're right! 🖖
1:05 can we take a moment to appreciate the madness of Hoovie to send a drone through a car once worth half a million dollars?
not really like it was gonna cause catastrophic damage if he did crash it inside the car lol
No
Madness? What's the worst that can happen? It's not going to damage the car, the worst thing that can happen is break a rotor or something on the drone which is easily replaceable.
@@jeffreynunya4716 I've been flying planes and drones for 16 years. You can definitely damage stuff with the rotors, like your own flesh
I'd really love to see a TH-cam creator mashup of Hoovie, Fab Rats & Matt's off-road. Hoovie buys a hooptie 4x4, Fab Rats fixes & mods it then Matt rescues Hoovie when he inevitably gets stuck/breaks down.
It's funny, of all the channels about cars, trucks.. you name it, Hoovie, Fab Rats and Matt's Off-Road are the ones I watch regularly too. I'll throw in WatchJRGo for the extra Kansas connection and Robby Layton for extra Utah..
@@gwomp61 ditto on the hoovie, WatchJRgo, fab rats, Robby Layton, Matt’s off road circle, with added legit street cars thrown in
As long as Matt brings Lizzy I’m down for that video
How about Western Chaplain ?
Now we respectfully understand that Western wouldn't fit in the drivers seat, his remedy would be to extend the steering colum to the back seat ,add some more turbos, drag wheels and tyres, but hide the Snacks 😎
RedneckMaybach
I have bought a w140 600 SEL in from 1992 in 2010 - I only payed 3 percent of its new price and only small repairs in the first 3 years
That is an awesome family hauler.
I'm usually very happy for you but this one really has me sad for myself. I would love to roll around in this thing. Great find Hoovie.
Robin Leach's voice of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous was in my head when Hoovie played the music while driving this car. LOL
That Maybach still looks absolutely gorgeous and it does not look even slightly like an S class.
the wheels are the ugliest part of these cars and ruins the look on the outside imo
@@jaggal16 Needs a few inches bigger to compliment the rest of the car.
@@Mitchell.Is.De.Naam. That goes against the whole point of this car. Smaller wheels with bigger sidewall tires gives better ride quality.
The front end still screams Hyundai XG300.
yes it does, almost like a fusion of w220 and w221
Honestly one of the best purchases Hoovie has ever made! What an awesome car
funny joke
I hope no major problems crop up as could be very expensive. Maintain it to specifications. Your kids are going to get spoiled.
I can't help but think this would make an amazing stealth Camper with the only downside being having to get out (unless you're a Contortionist) to move it as that rear is like a rolling fancy Living room which you probably could survive a Car show weekend in.
Needs a way to run in shore power from a generator or a plug so the rear A/C and all the interior functions work without running the V12 endlessly.
@@hendo337 Solar power from the roof will do most in the day, wonder if it has a 2nd accessory battery you could hook up to a charger?
Not much stealth about this one. It will draw attention like crazy 😄
@@hendo337 already kinda has it, running a 2nd battery if it doesn't already have one shouldn't be too hard either and tbh in Summer it shouldn't get cold enough to need to constantly heat the Cabin.
@@digglerdiggler you'd be suprised how well even at this size they blend in, unless you know what you are looking at most will just see a large black German saloon, which is part of what put people off buying them and it's the last kind of car you'd expect someone to sleep in, you'd expect them to be off in a Hotel and not in the back under an electric blanket watching Star Trek.
This is one of the finest engineering, luxury, and artistic cars even in today's date
Facts, they wanted to show off
This has been my ultimate dream car since it’s debut. Many years later I decided to convert a hearse into a similar experience.
Beautiful piece of automotive history
Drone skills on point in the beginning flying through the car!
😂😂😂 I think Tylor will drive this thing more than any other car in the garage now
This is such a good video and the kids played their part prefect you will not find a video like this anywhere else on TH-cam!
I thought "damn I'd pay $50k for that anyday" so I started looking online. Cheapest base model I could find is $200k. Top model with the convertible rear is online for $2,000,000. Needless to say it'll be awhile before we can find one IN THIS CONDITION for $50k 😂
Jeffrey Tyler .... Now that I think about it, let's wait until Wizard has inspected it before we continue to say it was cheap.
You sure you weren't looking at 2022 maybachs?
@@hiroakiii4125 Not at 'only' $200k. :)

Even a Maybach is not kid proof.😆
"Don't make Daddy stop this Maybach and make you do your homework, young lady."
Congrats on a great car and a great family too.
This would work even better if he was talking to his wife.
Kids- Sorry, we can’t hear you way back here! Back to gaming

Congratulations on buying this beautiful piece of luxury!
Hilarious, especially liked that you picked up the kids from school in this boat. Go take the wizard and his wife for a ride, they just might decide they like this better than the bus. Great job, your videos are getting better all the time, had to show my wife this one..
Tim Corston .... Wizard will get plenty of time driving this beast during test drives after expensive repairs .... LOL
What a find for $44K. I love the Maybach and your kids seem to like it too. Thanks for the subtle humor. As always, Hoovies Garage never fails to entertain the viewers. Well done.
I like seeing ppl providing the best for their kids 🙌🙌🙌❤❤Baby Girl is already use to the life
That is definitely a sweet ride. The maintenance costs are the only problems owning a car like that.
I thought the same thing, maintenance costs on this vehicle are way higher than a Toyota or honda minivan.
@@blakewinters1381 wow maintaining a twin turbo V12 and very complex 20 year old electronics is more expensive than a Toyota??? Wow thanks captain obvious

Looks dated AF, nothing modern looking about it at all.
Then the fuel pump blows and it costs $35,000 and takes 4 months to ship from Germany
I just took my S550 to the shop to change spark plugs, and bill was $900 … I can’t even imagine how much it cost to maintain this thing
Always wanted to ride around in one of these. They are soooo cool
The intercom had me laughing so hard
The ending was by far extremely hilarious....... absolute gold 😂😂... Somewhat sad that the other one went to car heaven though
Now that it's been scrapped, he'll probably find the misplaced paperwork for securing it's title.
Tyler saying “..but it should be an easy fix.” Is one of the best things ever.. especially for CarWizzy and his Yacht 😂
I must have missed it, how much does it tow?
And ....I walked......8-10 km. And my first car was a early 80s Ford escort with a hatch beaten in by a front end loader and no engine. Seriously. Bought a car 2 years younger from a guy who had the rear end beaten off in a drunk driving accident. Made the engine fit. Hockey pucks! Very useful! Wiring harness was different. Alligator clips are also useful. Lol.
The other guy bidding saw Hoovie throwing down a bid and figured that meant the car would need a 100k in repairs (at Wizard's price), and went "nope, I'm out.". Didn't even counter it.😂
I’d buy it just for the kid partition 😂😂
They should have put those in mini vans.
Go to a neighbourhood garage sales, in the Maybach, to buy DVDs for the media player, would be fun. No Grey Poo pon.
Hoovie, do more videos with the kids! The ending was making me laugh…hilarious 😂!
I can’t wait for the day when you pick your daughter up from school in one of your luxury cars and she calls you Jeeves 😂
Oh yes! Jeeves and Wooster could be brought back with Tyler as Bertie. The two are just alike. Hilarious series and well awarded based on a series of stories by P. G. Wodehouse. It was a series on PBS and well worth searching for. But Hoovie and Wizard could be a great series too.
The whole point of this car is the rear passenger compartment. What better to sit ion the lap of luxury without dealing with the outside world? With the curtains & partition window, you are in a self-contained cabin with plenty of privacy and exclusiveness.
Mr Hoover I believe that a updated set of wheels that look like modern Maybach would really improve the looks of the car
I LOVE THIS CAR Hoovie! Really knockin it out of the park with the cars, recently.
Wow Hoovie, you just keep them coming one after another. Hats off to you dude!
