  • In the context of the Last Supper, Jesus gives the teaching on the vine and the branches, explaining to the disciples the necessity of abiding in him.
In this video, Dr. Brant Pitre explains what it means in John 15 when Jesus says "He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit..."

As a tree biologist I am amazed at how many levels this story has, like looking at nature under a microscope, it only gets more beautiful. Every story of Jesus is like this, he never said I am the sheep and you are the wool he always chose examples that keep on giving even when we know the biology behind it.

I love that part where you mention that we think we can "bear fruit" even without Christ. As written in Isaiah 64:6 "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away."

God the Father has given humanity Jesus as the Living bread, all people and nation must awaken to understand this Truth. He gives to all food & drink in this life and blessed are they who understand this because they work with the Son to make humanity fruitful with good works and to prepare for the next life to come. I like to see and Listing to Dr Pitre because it is food and strength for the day!!!!

Sir I have question regarding these verses
“I do not judge anyone who hears my words and does not keep them, for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. The one who rejects me and does not receive my word has a judge; on the last day the word that I have spoken will serve as judge,”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭12:47-48‬ ‭NRSV-CI‬‬

If you read the Gospel of John, in context, Jesus is the WORD of the Father. Therefore, the "words" spoken by the Word of the Father are nothing other than the Father's speech; the Son is the Sacrament/Revelation of the Father. The Father is speaking through His Word. Read John 5, wherein Jesus turns the tables on those putting Him on trial for healing on the Sabbath...He flips it to say that they are putting the Father on Trial by so putting Him (Jesus) on Trial...because the Father is acting through Jesus. Look at verses 10 and 11 later on in John 14: "The WORDS that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his WORKS. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves." Does this mean that Jesus is subordinate to the Father? How can this be when at the beginning of the Gospel of John, He's called the "Word" and "God." All throughout the Gospel, and even throughout the Synoptic Gospels, Jesus makes it clear that He is God. At the end, He receives Divine worship from St. Thomas, and does not rebuke him for doing so. Therefore, Jesus, as a Divine Person is equal to the Father and the Holy Spirit, but, in His Human Nature, is subordinate to them (a paradoxical truth). And, as readers, we need to discern when Jesus is talking about Himself as a Divine Person OR when He is referring to His subordinate Humanity. This other video by Brant Pitre will help: th-cam.com/video/-Smgo6D1kEs/w-d-xo.html
In this vein, there are times when Jesus says "I came not to judge" but then there are other passages such as this: "I have much to say about you AND MUCH TO JUDGE, but he who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him" (John 8:26).
The Mystery is as follows: the Second Divine Person of the Trinity, Jesus, even before His Incarnation, is the Father's very own Self-Understanding and Divine Plan. He is everything the Father is, manifested in Another Unique Divine Person (another enhypostasization of the Divine Nature). He is a Sacrament of the Father. The Holy Spirit is the Father's own Presence, and is also a Sacrament of the Father. Therefore, Jesus is the Father, Sacramentally, but is also Another Divine Person (again, paradoxical), and the Holy Spirit is the Father, Sacramentally, but is also Another Divine Person (again, paradoxical). This mystery has a biblical basis in Adam. "Adam" could denote, in plural, the whole human race (both Adam and Eve), as well as just the individual Adam. Before the Fall, it was Adam (all humanity in Adam), and this includes his "side"/"rib" which was Eve. In fact before the Fall they were called Adam "Ish" and "Ishah" (MAN and woMAN), and the woMAN is only called "Eve" later as consequence of the Fall, wherein Adam has to take Authority over her as part of the medicinal curse that was given to her near the end of Genesis 3 ("to name" someone means to have authority over them).
Now, just as God, in Genesis, breathes the Holy Spirit into Adam (called, according to the Hebrew, "breath of LIVES") and God, then, later takes Adam's side to make the Woman (who is later named "Eve," which means the "mother of the LIVING") then, according to a Trinitarian understanding, the Father begets the Son and breathes the Spirit through Him (through His Side; cf. John 7:38-39 and John 19:34...though the verse from John 7 is often translated as "belly," this Greek word actually has a wide range of meanings that satisfies my interpretation). There is ONE God in Three Divine Persons. All Three Divine Persons are God. When the Father acts, we say "He" acts. When the Son acts, we say "He" acts. When the Spirit acts, we say "He acts." We never say "They Act." Furthermore, all Three Divine Persons always act in concert together within every Act. The Father is the Source of the Trinity and the Divine Nature, but the Son and the Spirit are also the Father (His Self-Understanding, Plan and Revelation AND His Presence) manifested to Himself as Two Unique enhypostasizations. Again, paradoxical but true.
This also effects our Sacramental Theology. I'm a human man BUT I'm also the Humanity of Jesus (which is never separated from, nor confused with, His Divinity). Being the Humanity of Jesus (because I eat Him without, in any way, destroying Him), I am, simply, Jesus (His Humanity working with His Divinity, all within His Divine Person)...but I'm just a creature, just a human person man. Paradoxical. This is Grace (the Divine Presence). This is the Eucharist (which literally means "good Grace"). We are being translated out of Adam throughout this Life, receiving a downpayment fortaste of the COMPLETE Inheritance to come, wherein we shall be COMPLETELY Glorified IN Christ (the New Adam) though always remaining human creatures, in accordance to 1 John 3:2 - "Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is."
If this is heresy, someone please correct me. I hope all of this helps.

"I came not to judge the world, but to save the world" gives His sentiment; 'I don't want to see anyone judged; only those who willingly depart from the gospel will have judged themselves; my words, then, will be their judge, and they will convict themselves on the Last Day.'

Jesus comes into the world as the Devine Mercy of the Father.
Thus Jesus's sole purpose is to redeem the whole world.
That redemption means for everyone, for each and every souls, from the very least sinners down to the very lost.
however every time we choose to embrace sin, we pour on ourselves the cup of judgments to our souls.
it is not He (the Lord) who DESIRES, but it is us who PUTS Him in a place where He requires to give judgments among us!
if you wish to know more about the Devine Mercy, may you take time to read of the Diary of Saint Faustina Kowalska.

Uh, if Christ Jesus' rendition of Yahweh is a good father image, then He'd most assuredly *not* give us whatsoever we ask Him for; as some things we'd ask Him for would be definitively evil in their effects on us, and other things we shouldn't get; yet, as we should and would have to work for them to begin with... as a result, the passage "ask for whatsoever you will and it'll be done for you" is most definitely heretical in its very core; as any permissive parent is most definitely NOT a good parent to begin with.
And if God's not a parent to us, then He lied to us, and thus is intrinsically evil as a being to begin with, and thus that confirms the reality that all spirits, without any exception, are really intrinsically deadly to mankind and have to be rejected- thus yielding full obedience to the Church when it says to stay away from all recourse to spirits to begin with- and that'd *have* to include God as He's a spirit to begin with at that.

@@po18guy Actually, that'd be really bad for everyone, myself included, thus the whole biblical appeal is blatantly false, as it is really bad for mankind.
