    I was a protestant for 25 years before becoming Catholic. During all those years I was never sure about the identity of Jesus. Many did not believe he was God in the flesh, though they called Him the Son of God. It was only after converting that I began to understand the Incarnation. There is much confusion and disagreement among protestants about Who He is. I'm very grateful for Catholic clarity.

      I'm sorry to sound like a jerk, but how do you have a personal relationship with someone without being sure of their identity? It's just that so often I see protestants arguing that catholics aren't even christian, and it perplexes me to hear that protestants haven't even figured out who Jesus is. It's also sad to note that 85% of catholics don't recognize the true presence in the eucharist. It's frustrating. How are we supposed to be happy knowing so many people are so lost?

    *I too received my faith this way..I always believed in God but that was as far as it went. It never played any part in my life, besides having my son Christened in 2003 as all in Ireland are Christened. 5 years ago, out of nowhere i suddenly had this amazing feeling, it was love at it's most beautiful, but strangely it was not an emotion. It wasnt how i love my son, but was a strange feeling like light maybe, if it could be formed & put in my heart for a minute. In this minute i knew Christ was God, was real & loved me so much. Also that His Church was sort of "a supernatural entity" & that the Sacraments do exactly what the Church says they do. It was so amazing. My family came back to the faith, my folks going to confession for first time since marriage 34 years before. My mom has fallen in love with our Lord & is blown away by the reality we have been shown, that Christ is truly there for us. We loved the GREAT ADVENTURE BIBLE STUDY and Brant's videos too. He explained the Mass to my mom too in a way that jus amazes her & me too. The Brother in our local Adoration chapel said my experience was an "INFUSION OF GRACE"...I never can put it in words, except to say how lovely it was & i am amazed every day when i wonder, "WHY ME?"...I can only think that maybe my granparents in Heaven prayed for me & maybe God used me to remind my folks & my brothers of his love for us & that He was waiting for us in the confessional..My 1st confession after this was so amazing i cried like a baby for ten minutes with the priest...lol*

    Very interesting. An interesting parallel: Peter (Cephas) vs Caiaphas. And much more interesting was the Johannine thunderbolt.
    I have nevertheless a certain reservation with the parallelism done between Peter (Cephas) and Caiaphas in their respective roles of high priest. This is one question I also had when I read, 'Jesus and the Lord Supper' where Dr. Pitre pointed out St. Peter as the new high priest à la Aaron. For sure the context was rather well argued, showing how Jesus organized his disciples in group of 70 and 12 and then 3 just like Moses did. Even though the parallelism between Jesus as the new Moses was perfect in my mind, not so much with Peter and Aaron. The reason being that Hebrews uses the new High priest position for Jesus himself, hence making it difficult to see how Peter could fit in that same shoe given to the Lord already in sacred scriptures:
    "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly vocation consider the apostle and high priest of our confession, Jesus" - Hebrews 3:1
    Any suggestion on how the role of high priest could be held both by Jesus (Hebrews 3:1; 4:14-15) and Peter? Thanks for any clarification.

    • @Sean-lv6fx
      @Sean-lv6fx 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Eric Gatera - You say; "Any suggestion on how the role of high priest could be held both by Jesus (Hebrews 3:1; 4:14-15) and Peter? Thanks for any clarification."
      The High Priesthood was an earthly ministry, so when Christ ascended into heaven it makes sense for someone to take his role as leader of the Church. In Judaism the High Priest had a type of infallibility when consulting the urim and thummim. The urim and the thummim wasn't in use as far as I am aware during Christ's ministry, but notice that even Caiaphas prophecied about Christ in John11:49:53, John11:51 states something very interesting, it says;
      John11:51 He did not say this on his own, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus was about to die for the nation,
      It seems as though God still used Caiaphas to correctly prophecy about Christ, because of Caiaphas's position as High Priest. This was despite Caiaphas actively trying to bring false accusations against Christ, with the ultimate goal of having him executed.

    Johannine thunderbolt. I never heard that, but this is was i meant by "john" meaning "the beginning of the response of Jah." He teaches this by showing the lightning in the eastern sky. Its light travels across the sky and is "reflected" off the western clouds and back to the east again. You can count the seconds, waiting for thunder; but you're going to hear the breath of Almight God speaking in your ear. In another language "john" means "to coo" and in another it is the "dove." Taken together, i think we should repeat what God says. We should echo his words and reflect his character at least to the best of our ability. I confess, i fail every day. Its possible that this is what the Lord was looking for in Job.

  • @nadzach
    @nadzach ปีที่แล้ว

    "He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone" This would pretty much eliminate justice. Except if any group had received the Johannine portion of faith, this qualifies as a judge. He sits on a council of the sons of God on earth. Like the high priest who was the only person to enter the holy of holies and touch the ark. Is it that he has never sinned? Or is it that his faith extends to a firm belief--a faith. In Christ, i have forgiveness for thoughts that haven't yet crossed my mind. Uzza had gone only six steps. I think it requires 8. For each grace, your eyes and ears are opened. But you must also believe and confess. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom, understanding, cousel, might, knowledge, fear...and to breathe in the being of God. One begins in the outer court orcourt of the gentiles as a servant (the young Levites would be running messages and doing janitorial work.) The second court is where the business of the temple takes place. The third court is the Holy of Holies. But the most holy place of all must be the face of God behind the wings of the cherubim. That would be if and when the glory cloud descended on the Mercy Seat. (btw, there is no Q.) מערה. מאת. לוק. יענה. These lesson notes were taken directly from the "script" bag of one student in each of the fourth classes. The notes could be copied and gathered into a codex. It is Judaiic tradition to title the work acording to the first words of the book, poem or song. Mark is the notes of the newest disciples, "the other 70." Here the student enters a type of the courts of Moses and is "established" in the court of heaven--a holy place. Adding the second court, he will, here, gain righteousness as God the Father is with him in the person of Jesus. מאת. With the alpha and omega, mat`theou. I think that would be Ματ-θεου. Then we come to the "latter" part (לוק,) but it's not the last. This third court or holy of holies encompasses the ark of the covenant/Mercy Seat. Here you may be surprised by the labor pains because born again takes on extra meaning here. Job suffered the loss of everything before his change. He was a man who knew pain. At the last supper Jesus showed those close to him that they would become servants again. A careful comparison of the four gospels in their local Greek shows the same progress of moving forward in faith. More faith carries your boat farther in a storm and more light gets the attentions of outsiders. You become more childlike. And while your clothes may become those of the servant, there is a glorious wedding garment waiting for you. You definitely dont want to show up at the wedding banquet without your wedding garment.

    • @jamesm5462
      @jamesm5462 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edwardlongfellow5819 admitting being the Messiah was not the reason Jesus was sentence to death by the sanhedrin. Nor was "the son of God" (if the sanhedrin got it implisitly) the reason. Those were not the reasons for blasphemy. It was "you will see the SON OF MAN sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." Mark 14:62. And the high priest tore his clothes and charged Jesus with blasphemy because he and the rest of the priests knew Jesus was alluding to Dan 7:12, God that looks like the son of man coming with the clouds of heaven.
      Jesus didnt want to get his identity known as the messiah because the apostles themselves still did not get the kind of messiah he was supposed to be. Just like most of the jews at the time, the messiah they were waiting for was an earthly powerful king that would drive the romans out of israel and brought peace and prosperity. Thus, it would have made his heavenly mission almost impossible to achieve. His hour would come when he would reveal he was the messiah but not in the way the people wanted the messiah to be. After the ressurection, the apostles understood fully what kinda Messiah Jesus is.

      Hello James,
      I wonder, if the priests or elders who conspired to get rid of Jesus, ever really considered Dan 7:12 . Let us instead consider the time when Jesus foolishly rushed into the temple grounds with a whip in his hand, overturning the tables of the money lenders and scattering the lenders. A violent image that does not sit well with the image of a man of peace. And it was this folly that would ultimately lead to his arrest and eventual death.
      And while it is reasonable to find that Jesus was certainly on a mission it was not a heavenly one. Jesus we find was executed for sedition-treason!

    • @jamesm5462
      @jamesm5462 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edwardlongfellow5819 first, let me correct my mistake on referring to Dan 7:12. It should be 7:13.
      When Jesus "made a trouble" ("unholy") act at the temple He was fed up with the scribes, particularly the saduchees who basically controlled and ran the temple operation and profitable businesses. The AREA where the money traders, animal dealers, etc., were doing their businesses was an area not supposedly occupied by anyone of them because it was alloted for gentile worshippers (see 1 King 8:41-43). Jesus was fed up because those in charge of the temple were so corrupted by turning the special space for gentiles to worship into a filthy market. You see, the scribes could not really charged Jesus with sedition or any of that sort because they knew Jesus exposed their hypocracy.
      Jesus' opponents could not find fault with Jesus no matter how hard they tried to trap him to make an unforgivable mistake. The only way to put him to death was trapping him to make a blasphemy. The sedition part was forced by the scribes to Pilate by treathening him by saying "We have no king but caesar." Pilate gave in and ordered his men to make a wooden sign "King of the Jews" as the "sedition." But we know Jesus was sentence to death because He clearly confessed as the Son of Man coming with the clouds of heaven (Dan 7:13). The hour was right for him to offer a perfect sacrifice so God would not invoke His wrath upon us. His kingdom is far far far grandeur than that of David. Much grander than that of Salomon. While gentiles did came and pay homage to Salomon, Jesus' kingdom reaches far and beyond Salomon's kingdom. Jesus kingdom was already prophesied to Mary when the angel told Mary that she would bear an Immanuel whose kingdom would last for eternity. Jesus' international kingdom is also the fulfillment of Amos 9:11-12. David failed. Salomon fell to idolatry in the end. His kingdom fell apart miserably. But God kept the promise of everlasting kingdom in Jesus. The royal ministers of His kingdom are no longer administrators and politicians but the apostles and prophets. Missionary outreach, instead of military might, is the way to penetrate and expand His kingdom. Martyrs and love instead of tyrants and power are the way to win souls after souls.

      Hello James,
      Unfortunately, for those wish to believe, Daniel, like other so -called prophecies, was never a prophecy. rather it was a weird dream. which disturbed Danial. Being neither clear or concise. It certainly never identified Jesus by name. Much the predictions of Nostradamus is we find of a similar ambiguous nature.
      And was Jesus fed up with the Jewish elders who oversaw the administration of Temple business? We should ask why now in this time of
      his life did he choose to make violent protest? After all, he had worshipped at the temple all his life. His parents had even purchased doves there as an offering to God. Yet he had never once made a protest over the miss-dealings of the moneylenders. Why not?
      The simply fact is that Jesus was riding high on the crest of a wave of popularity. The would-be-king thought he was untouchable when he made his move. However he badly misjudged the situation.
      Of course the time was never right for a perfect sacrifice. The truth is that Jesus was never sacrificed.
      And if ever there was a Kingdom of God then it most certainly was the Kingdom of Israel. But, alas this kingdom had been long destroyed by hostile armies before Jesus was born. Hope for a new kingdom is found in Gospel scripture as follows- "for the Angel who came secretly to Mary, said: “Thou hast found favour with God...and thou shalt conceive a son and call his name Jesus. He shall be great...and the Lord shall give him the Throne of his father David...and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”
      But the truth is that Jesus never sat on the throne of David.

      and the False Prophet (Cesare Borgia as Jesus)
      LOOK IT UP
      They dont see that they are worshiping this Dark Trinity already, this wicked doctrine coming out of the mouth of the Dragon, from the devil.
      There's more proof to support this, do you want more? ..... Nope, because the Bible says the Darkness hates the Light.

      @@lenormand4967 you do know that you already worship the human god you were warned not to worship as a god in these end times right?
      You do know people were deceived into worshiping this thing as a god according to Scripture? So that means more than likely you worship this human already, and there is no other man god around to worship 🤣😂🤣 and the Bible perfectly describes this false human god.
      Revelation 13:14 (NLT)
      14 And with all the miracles he was allowed to perform on behalf of the first beast, *he DECEIVED all the people* who belong to this world. He ordered the people to make a *GREAT STATUE of the first BEAST, WHO WAS FATALLY WOUNDED AND THEN CAME BACK TO LIFE*
      What other man god that was fatally wounded and came back to life has statues and is being Worshiped as a god with billion of followers in these end times?
      Your judgement is here
      Matthew 24:44
      So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
      Amos 5:18
      What sorrow awaits you who say, “If only the day of the LORD were here!” You have no idea what you are wishing for. That day will bring darkness, not light.
      THERE IS NO RAPTURE FOR YOU TO ESCAPE YOUR JUDGEMENT
      Isa 44:10-11
      Who but a fool would make his own god- an idol that cannot help him one bit?
      11 All who worship idols will be disgraced along with all these craftsmen-mere humans- who claim they can make a god. They may all stand together, but they will stand in terror and shame.
      Hell is your home in the hereafter.

      The cross is the mark of the beast, the beast that was fatally wounded and came back to life. (Died and Resurected)
      They place the cross (mark of the beast) in your forehead on Ash Wednesday and they perform the cross with their right hands
      The Spanish Inquisition killed you if you didn't accept the Mark of this Beast, you cannot buy or sell if you are dead.
      The false prophet who is the face of Christianity, is a model after the Pope's son, Cesare Borgia.
