#Hellboy
"What the hell is that thing?"
"...Lemme go ask."
Hellboy's dialogue was so great.
Also how he wanted to be peaceful at first.
It really showed Hellboy although liking to fight supernatural creatures also hears them out if they’re willing to talk things over
Take lessons, marvel. This is how you quip.
Take lessons, marvel. This is how you quip.

if that was a line in marvel movie you would probably complain about it like a hypocrite you are
I love the fact that Del Toro goes for both practical suit and CGI creature effects in order to bring Samael to life. You rarely see directors go that route nowadays.
He was supposed to do the hobbit movies can you imagine that?
@@Betito1171 Gosh that could have been hilarious, without any doubts. Too bad he never got the chance to do the filming, then there would at least have been some hope of seeing something like a Del Toro's Cut for the "Hobbit" as it indeed has happened with the Snyder's "Justice League", for i highly doubt there stand more enthusiastic and caring fans behind the Snyderverse than there have always been to be found behind the Professor's works (that said I am not trying to deprecate or criticize the Snyder's take on DC comics, on the contrary, while being a huge fan of his DC-universe based movies I simply very much believe the chances of Del Toro's take on the "Hobbit" finding its way to the big screens one day would not be that small as the success of the Snyder's "Justice League" has already shown).
Actually Steven Spielberg went that route when filming Jurassic Park.
@@Betito1171 "Why does it hurt so much?"
@@Betito1171 And get this, when he was attached to do The Hobbit movies, he couldn’t do a Hellboy 3, but The Hobbit projects Del Toro was working on fell through. His commitment to The Hobbit was what stopped Hellboy 3 from being made immediately after Hellboy II, and we never got a true Hellboy 3 after that.
Even after so many years, the CGI is still at it's golden days
There is not so much CG in this clip, in most closeup shots they using costumes and animatronics.
Outside of the cars
They use AI cgi now which is kinda lazy
Movie turns 20 years old in 2024.
was thinking the same
Ron Perlman was born to play Hellboy. You know what? He is Hellboy. That voice is just awesome.
How he matches withe costume and tone of voice. Really speak true to how the character would sound in real life
David Harbour was awesome too both are amazing
@@Quayd_McMahonThey both did well but I have a soft spot for Perlman's rendition of the character. I'd imagine this is what Hellboy would actually be like if he was real
Mignola's first and only pick for the guy who could ever play Hellboy was, by his own words, Ron Perlman. The fact Perlman put his all into the roll, coupled with Del Toro's direction, and the close communication between the three, really immortalized his depiction as _the_ quintessential Hellboy.
It's like trying to compare Christopher Reeve's Superman with all of his successors up to this point. Anyone who dons the cape and mask of such legendary characters may do an absolutely stupendous job, but it's going to be quite difficult to outdo the person who essentially did so bang up a job that they made the character practically their own. The bar they need to raise, much less cross in order to not simply live up to, but somehow surpass the best of the best, is quite a herculean feat in and of itself.
“RED MEANS STOP” we will always be a badass line to me
Exactly!
Y'all say “badass" to just about anything give it up lol

Ron Pearlman was perfect for this role. He knocked it out of the park IMO
ok now I perfectly understand why fans love this one...
yeah bro gotta watch it first before judging
It's a very underrated film.
@@ClassicHarleyQuinn how is it underrated?
@@nocturnalrecluse1216 It doesn't get as much love as it should.
The creature design is fantastic!!
The most badass and epic Hellboy that will ever exist.
“What the hell is that thing?”
“Let me go ask”😂
Not counting how much it deviates from the lore, the movies still hold up beautifully.
That’s true but on the other hand if you follow it or try to follow it too closely you’ll end up with a bogged down mess like the 2019 film
Yeah who cares. I never heard of hellboy before this movie and only this movie got me interested in this character. Hell I wouldn't even bother to read the comic.
same lol
Deviates how much? I haven't followed this Series much.
@@buildertherobloxian4731in the comics, it wasn’t Samuel that attacked the museum. It was a gang of mutant frog men. Pretty sure the Cthulhu-esque elements were just added by Guilmero
Not gonna lie, Hellboy is my favorite comic book movie. It's so damn fun and over the top, and I love every minute of it.
Hellboy: "Red means stop"
Hulk: "Im always angry"
these lines has the same vibes.
Maybe controversial, but I missed Myers in the second movie. While people have made the point that a audience surrogate character like him overall isn't technically "needed", I still liked his inclusion and felt having a regular BPRD guy with just a gun and some wits worked well with Abe, Hellboy and Liz.
I thought that he was a good character too. Plus I really enjoyed the chemistry between him and Hellboy, and he made a good interpreter for when Hellboy and the monsters were spotted in public. His exclusion from the second movie and the sloppy way they explained his absence was one of the many things that I did not like about the second movie despite liking the art direction.
@@Firstborn0Raz
I agree, while it can be argued that his character is bland, the little touches of characterization here and there does endear him to me. Much like here - 2:09 - where he looks obviously frightened, yet still pushes on and fights back, and of course what lead him to it of wanting to help Hellboy out despite the fact that Hellboy usually works alone.
He's the regular Joe, but he's got heart.
@@jocosesonataexactly if they do the 3rd movie bring him back
And it would have worked well with the theme of the second one. Since the prince wanted to kill humans but hellboy protects and works with them
I love the little details like the Tracker bullet glowing from inside the barrel, it's "unnecessary" but was a nice detail to pay attention to.
That leap and the camera-work...😳
3:29
We have tô admit: that was a good movie, with a cool mythology
I agree. The mytho had a somewhat HP Lovecraft feel to it
@@aaronkenyon7112 Slavic i believe.
I love how it combined humor with dark fantasy. Gives it a very unique charm.
@@aaronkenyon7112 Lovecraft was a horrible human being that should not be given any credit for his works

To be fair you do only need one
@@BombasticFlagFish "Hound of resurrection" means NO
He wasn't lying.
4 out of 5 actually. Which is weird because his gun only got 4 round capacity
See, I'm not a great shot, but this Samaritan here fires really big bullets."
God Ron Perlman was so perfect in this role
I love Samael's design. It's different from the comic, but still has all the important traits.
Every line and expression made by Ron had me laughing my ass off. 0:45 Prob my favorite next to every time he just goes "oh crap" 2:44
Yeah, I don’t think anyone can top Ron Pearlman’s Hellboy.
This was so great in the theater. Holds up remarkably well. One of my childhood favorites
“Hound of resurrection.”
“See, I don’t like that. How do I kill it?”
“Hmmm, doesn’t say.”

Lol
"I am Sam. Sammael"
"That Sammael, that Sammael, I do not like that Sammael."
Andrew Skinner I get it Green eggs and ham 😂😂😂😂
@@pricemoore2022 Yep, ain't I a stinker? 😄
I always loved how the cars on the road in this scene were literally more dangerous to the civilians than Samael 🤣😂
0:14 Hellboy: Oh, crap. LOL! 😂
You can see The Samuel is so intelligent he can kill many people on his ways but he wont, he knew he was chasing and might be dead so he need somewhere to create an army then come back to rule the world... This is why we love gullimo so much all his work was made from heart of all comic fans
Ron Pearlman is the perfect casting choice for Hellboy. No better choice than him
I miss Ron Perlman for being Hellboy
that bit with the hound of ressurection lol
Weird how all those drivers saw three pedestrians, including two monsters, crossing the road and thought "Yeah I'll just floor it, nothing bad ever happens at 60 mph."
That’s how people usually do in reality they rather go flight mode rather than just staying there
This is how you mix CG and practical effects did amazing result and effect
I'm just wondering why there is a HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY directly next to a fair! Those cars must have been doing at least 55.
Dramatic effect
It's something really common in latinoamerican countryes. I'm argentinian, Guillermo is mexican. I'm sure he want to put little details about our type of culture in things like that, plus to the dramatic effect. Sorry for the writing, I suck in english haha
😂
It's called *"Hollywood"*
And why they're all willing to commit vehicular homicide rather than stop.
If they ever make a tv show for hellboy, Ron Pearlman should definitely return as hellboy.
He's getting old though. Putting on that makeup every day for a tv series might be "hell" for him at his age since he's been putting on makeup/prosthetics for half his career.
@@robwebnoid5763 exactly he's 72 he's not ever coming back, especially with where comic book movies and shows are at
@@HunterMagunter ... Yep, however, he did say in one interview that if del Toro is going to make Hellboy 3 & asks for him back, he will definitely do it. When that different studio/director that made Hellboy 2019 asked him if he wanted to do it, he said no, as he will only make del Toro's Hellboy version. That is loyalty. He's done a lot of shows using makeup & masks (Beauty & the Beast comes to mind), but if he wants to do it one last time, then perhaps Hellboy 3 might do him honors, despite age ... unless Ron was ill or dying, of course, which would suck for us fans of him for all these past 4 decades since Quest for Fire.
@@robwebnoid5763 problem is the studio wouldn't give a movie like hellboy back to a creative director like del torro, they want yes men and del terro is the opposite he gives us art. Movies aren't allowed to be good anymore
Bro if I was a rich man I’d pay soooooo much to see Del Toro and Ron make a 3rd Hellboy film together
The reason why the CG looks as good as it does even after so many years is because Del Toro insisted on creating Sam animatronics first, thus giving the cg team actual lighting reference from something tangible!!!..
3:38 : The guy in the armor suit is Del Toro himself, the one on the dinosaur costume is Mike Mignola
3:48 That's close to same motif from the incredibles when mr.incredible is finding out all his friends are dead
"hound of resurrection" "😑 see I don't like that."
i like how he is grumpy, but never mean,
and his first aproach was talking it out
takes shit like a champ and moves on
Ron Perlman will always be hellboy in my heart
I absolutely love seeing how these practical effects and costumes were so well done in this movie.
Totally mind blowing.
I also enjoy Hellboy’s attitude and mannerisms in the movie.
Ron Perlman did a stellar job with the role he was put into. A great movie to watch no matter how many times it is seen :)
“Red means stop!!!” XD my younger self was so excited to hear that everytime i see this movie
This movie looks fantastic
The only hellboy and the only CGI that I adored the most
".... Hound of resurrection "
"SEE................ i don't like that"
“No body helps me! It’s my job!”
2 seconds later… “you wanna help? Here.. load this for me”…. 🤷♂️
How? How does the CGI look so good even now?
Looks like they blended it with practical effects.
Hellboy has best cgi that most nowadays films are lack! Really appreciated del toro's approach on the Hellboy
I love this movie to death. But now I can’t help but see the issue at 2:30 where the parasite isn’t there even though we clearly see his arm. Then at 2:40 just *poof*. Maybe it was under his skin and was trying to escape after laying the eggs?
Also can I just add, I love the undertone of Hellboy’s theme at 3:00.
The parasite could be moving from behind to front of the hand
I always saw it like the parasite just grew that fast. What better way to propagate than really quickly
I always assumed the parasite was hiding under his jacket sleeve
They could've at least gave us a third movie
Ron Pearlman is actually still trying to get a third movie made
@@hipperdry I hope this is true but unfortunately the reboot film came out and uhhhh, yeaaahhhhhh.
Mignola is jealous of Del Toro, I doubt he let Guillermo make it.
Samael yeeting hell boy got a laugh out of me
Always, always, always reload before you holster your weapon.
What the hell is that thing ?
Lemme go ask.
😂😂😂
Let me see:
-Pretty good effects
-movie is fun to watch
-astounding fight scene
But WHAT DID THEY DO TO MA BOI SAMAEL?
Why they didn't continue this series and decided to make a new universe is beyond me
They like yes men, del torro makes his own movies at his own pace and marvel doesn't like that, they want their directors to do exactly what they want
Male protagonist. Hollywoke want to bury all Strong Male Character.
1:21 Dude sat him up straight like “Alright right here is good.”
This movie is everything to me
Still gives me the chills in 2024… Whats super great movie
Love this hellboy more than all new hellboy
One of the reason is non excessive gore and good effects
Man, he really is the best Hellboy ever.
This was a fun movie.
seeing him hit the crazyass driver was so satisfying
really?? why did it had to stand him up? 1:22 that was unpleasent move 🤣
Maybe he felt bad for hitting him while he was down?
What an underrated movie.
The Golden Army was a good movie too! Del Toro is good with costume & CGI blend!
I wished Prince Nueda appeared again in a trilogy with Ron! (As allies)!?
Hollywood ruined that & didn’t use Ron too!🤔😤
This is the reason why trench coats aren’t ruined for me
It’s criminal we didn’t get the 3rd/last movie
They dont make movies like this no more
I love that for a lot of the shots samael is a dude in a suit
1:31 pain...
Fun fact: The Guy in Dragon Costume and the one in Knight Armor at 3:38 are Both Guillermo del Toro and Mike Mignola
Best roll that this acter ever did in my opinion one of my favorite movies wow
After Watching this I can't help but wonder if Hellboy and the BPRD are the perfect contenders to combat the White Spikes (The Tomorrow War) and The Death Angels (A Quiet Place). If Hellboy can handle this monster like that, then could be very useful to other causes!
Well in the comic book he literally dealing this level even the apocalypse type of monster daily
Agreed!
Red means stop! Awesome

“Stay here” *in the middle of a freeway*
4:34 I think that car is deserved it. What he was doing. ?? Drive over an injured man ??? He didn't try to stop it. He was trying to overrun..
“That voice…”
“HEY! Vsauce, Michael here!”
I blame Abraham on this, he should have gone straight to the point, instead of reading every other title except resurrection, he knows Hellboy doesn't have the patience nor interest on those details.
Hers my question “Why did Samial run at first?” Did it see Hellboy and think it was gonna get in trouble for messing with the bosses son, did it know Hellboy is vital to Rasputin plan, or did it think that it didn’t need to waste time with this other demon when there are plenty of humans to eat.
Yeah, it knew hellboy was vital
Hellboy is scary, he's a near invincible demon with a hand of a literal god grafted on, can punch a truck doing 60 and flip it without much effort, you could drop a building on hellboy and he'll keep coming.
I'd run too.
never seen a film look this good in 04

Hellboy depuis mon enfance chuis aller le voir au cinéma ça me beaucoup plus j'ai aimé 👍👍
It's immortal little parasite 😁🤣
What's funny was how the creatures looked really good, and what takes you out of the immersion is the horrible unrealistic physics when he gets hit and knocked back. Like they got the hard part right and the easy part wrong.

Why oh why did they not do more Hell Boy movies with Ron!!!?!?!?!
Del Toro too! (Blade 1&2 , Pacific Rim,Hell Boy 1&2!) Prince Nueda was awesome martial arts scenes!
They should have went back in time & saved him & his sister!
And have them join forces against the next foe!
He told the injured guy to stay in the middle of the road lol
