One of my favorite character traits of his.
Probably because you wouldn't expect him to be a cat person, but the fact that he is is just wholesome.
He likes kids and kittens. He was similarly disgusted by Baba Yaga
I like how Abe immediately knew that Hellboy didn't know what "unconscionable" meant and explained it to him without needing to be asked.
A testament to how Ling they've known each other, also shows how this just what they do due to how Abe never talks down to him or even tries to dumb it down

This is why the reboot failed. It barely explored the universe it's been set. I mean not just only exposition but details can improve any movie
There would have been a sequel to HB2, but no studios were interested. Also Ron Perlman refused to do the movie without del Toro's involvement.
I feel like the reboot was supposed to be an Etrigan movie but they decided Hellboy had more “star power”
They’re not wrong as much as I love Etrigan these movies pretty much made Hellboy a household name.
The Reboot Movie was actually more true to the comics than this movie, the problem with the reboot is the execution of the film, the director looks like someone who just graduated freshly from a film school😂😂😂.

The variety of monsters in this movie is what made me love it most.

Old, unfortunately. I heard he wanted to do a 3rd one years ago but the studio kept saying no(which sucked cause he was like in his 60’s playing Hellboy and still had enough left in him for another round, with how much time has gone by from then he probably won’t be physically up to it)
He is old now maybe if they had some great cg and he voiced him then he could be hellboy again

This is what I love about Hellboy. He loves cats and cares a deep number for them. If anyone tries to hurt them, they die.
I'm hesitant to say *no one* besides Ron can do Hellboy justice, but he left some mighty big shoes to fill. He's just so damn charismatic.

My 2 favorite things about this part of the film:
1) Hellboy's insecurities shine here as even though there were those people all cheering for and asking to talk with him, he let the words of two random deadbeats weigh him down. As someone who's struggling with insecurities myself, the negativy bias is VERY rough and often even the best of things get played down because of one random negative thing.
2) I absolutely LOVE how Hellboy was totally unfased by so much carnage (the corpses whan he first met Samael in the first hellboy film), but YOU DON'T MESS WITH CATS around him!
I feel that cats are probably the animal that Hellboy relates to the most out of anything. So when he sees them in danger, he sees himself and possibly others like him in that same situation and therefore jumps into action.
Could be a stretch tho

Fun detail, the effects artists cared enough to have Hellboy's tail articulate/move like a tail would. Not just swing back and forth with his hip movement. Example during the walk into the troll market through the big meat freezer door. If you watch his tail, it actually has character while it's just in the background. The artists had to worry about Krauss effects but still took the time for the background. Pretty impressive
