I’m glad Luke AND Toto are finally getting the respect they deserve.
I agree. Thanks for checking out Lukes Episode on my podcast. : )
I remember Steve giving a speech at a prestigious college and getting in trouble because of dirty jokes, classic. He’s one in a million
yes he is one in a million.. I love that guy
that was a funny story 😅
Berkelee music school. Paraphrased: having chops is like having 20 inch cock (as opposed to being good at playing rhythm guitar)… what are you gonna do with that? (ie when you’re a session player)
I think it was at Berklee in Boston 😝

The music world doesn't make wonderful guys like Luke anymore...amazing...
I totally agree.. He is so amazing.
Luke is the best cat in the biz!
He is also so great and kind towards his friends and fans! I am honored to know him! Love his new album, REALLY loved his book too!
I agree,, I have to check out his new record.
It's amazing book and music
@@_Tressala_ Thanks : )
@KennyAronoffOfficial I feel Steve's new album is definitely among his best work . Steve really let his soul shine through in his guitar playing when it comes to his taking his time and letting his impeccable phrasing and vibrato guide the ship. No wasted notes ,but turning on the jets only when the song or solo would be enhanced by it. And his songwriting and vocals are top on this new one as well. Definitely check it out Kenny. 😊
@@stratcat9432 Thanks for your message.. Yeah I checked out Lukes latest record and I love it . : )
Love the hair Luke!
lol.. I love his hair also. very cool. right?
That's always my favorite answer of Lukes... That's the Job.
lol I love that answer also.
I was 13 years old watching you guys in the movie ‘Hired Gun’ now 5 years later at almost the age of 18 starting in the music business as a guitar player all I have to say is thank you thank you thank you!! Lukather is my favorite guitar player (alongside EVH) and even though I’m in no way a drummer you still had an impact on me musically. Hopefully one day I’ll be up in the ranks enough to have the honor to work with you two!
Nico... Thanks for your cool comments.
Steve Lukather is in the Hall of Fame one of the best musicians ever he has a great singing voice and shreds the best LA session guitarist ever!!Songwriter/vocalist/ guitar God and a very super cool cat!!I am so happy to have been into Toto since I was very young hearing Hold the Line and hearing his brothers in Toto on Silk Degrees been a major fan ever since God bless Jeff and Mike and Joe Porcaro all greatly missed
YESSSSSSSSSS
Hope Luk goes PAST 5 years. I'm just 65 and retiring from my 'job' in 16 months. COUNTING DOWN THE MONTHS... DAYS... HOURS...[cannot wait] So then I can do my dream. But I hope I'm good past 70. Yeah, you two are really lucky to be paid to do what you would do in retirement! Dang! Livin the dream... when it is good. God speed and keep doing great stuff, keep being 'real' b/c there is waay too much bullshit in this crazy world.
I LOVE STEVE'S HAIR!!!
lol I know. Isn't it great?
I love Cool hand Luke!!
He is our Tommy Tedesco!
yes he is....
Tommy Tedesco ? Didn’t he do a chapter in the Musician Institute Publication book TEN in 1982 ? …. EVH was involved in that too.
@@walterevans2118 I have no idea, but he was a god as a guitar player
@@KennyAronoffOfficial Was he a JAZZ player ? ....I remember other guys of the TEN guitarist with their chapters in that book were the great JOE PASS ,,,Instructor DON MOCK and I believe possibly LARRY CARLTON.
Tommy was part of the LA “Wrecking Crew,” that recorded the instrumentals for virtually everyone in the pop/rock genre in the ‘60s and ‘70s.
*Kenny Aronoff* I am Sorry brother.Sometimes i get so excited with the interview i space out on who Brought this AMAZING INTERVIEW* *The Kenny Aronoff Sessions are truly amazing* *THANK YOU BROTHER for ANOTHER BANGER*
Steve Lukather has achieved a level of success that is simply unimaginable for 99.999% of people who even tried to learn to play any instrument. Even with his worldwide success and the countless millions of dollars he has made, he is one of the most grounded, pleasant, and humble human beings in the business. Steve has always been a very approachable, well-spoken and highly respectable class act with a work ethic that is absolutely second to none anywhere. There are just not very many people left in this world like Steve and we can all learn a lot from his approach and work ethic.
I agree with you 100%
Seen LUKE 1st time on TOTO IV tour as young kid. Couldn't believe what I was seeing! He had jump suite/ strat style with Floyd but stylistically his versatility was insane! Been massive fan ever since & even had the pleasure 🙏 of meeting him. LEGENDARY STATUS FOR SURE!
Oh Yeah.. Luke is one of the greatest of all times and he is so humble.
@@KennyAronoffOfficialhe is def a legend but so are you!!!!
Saw Luke back in 82 when I was a teen and Toto4 dominated the charts . He was amazing then and just saw him this year opening for Journey and he is even better now.
Another Great Guest!!
Another one!!
Thanks so much.. More coming
Another Touchdown!!!
I love touch downs. I was hanging with Tarik Glenn today on the Colts jet talking about how he would block for Marshall Falk so he could get touch downs.
Kenny your so humble & real!!! Awesome work
Thanks for checking out my podcast.. : )
Steve has to be the hardest working man in the music business! And with the humour and humility to boot! I love his enthusiasm and his respect for everyone he shares the stage with. He's brilliant at translating the energy from the stage to the audience. A master musician, storyteller, and let's not forget, that warm, soulful voice! God bless you, Lukather! Love, a millennial ❤
PS: Thank you, Kenny, for the fantastic interview! New fan here. You truly know how to make your guests feel comfortable and just let them express themselves. I felt like I was in the room ❤
Thank you so much!😀
@@KennyAronoffOfficial You are most welcome! Much love from the Caribbean! You guys need to tour the islands!
@@AmandaLaggan yessssssssss : )
@@AmandaLaggan I love that idea.. : )
: ) I appreciate your comments.
I love these guys! Steve is special, very few people are as smart, funny and humble.
2 of the all-time very best just chewin the fat. :)
Thanks so much.
Steve is a monster shredder, but he's unparalleled as a rhythm player. Killer groove and tasteful beyond measure.
yes yup yeah!!
I don't think people realize that it's Luke playing that killer riff on "Beat It". All anyone talks about is EVH's solo (iconic as well) but Luke deserves credit for his guitar work as well.
and also for the bass part on that song!
@@MWRush2112
AMAZING. STEVE L. THANK U FOR BEING U❤🦋🥰🌞🦋
Thanks for checking out my podcast. : )
Again, you hit it out of the park with this interview, I absolutely love Luke I hope he doesn’t mind. I call him, Luke, even though I’ve never met him. At the age of 12 years old, I was introduced to rock in 1970 ever since then, I’ve been on a journey of following guitar players, Luke is phenomenal and what I like most about him is he gets embarrassed when you talk about how many records he’s been on total class! Keep up the great job your channel is awesome and I look forward to every time you put up a new post. Thanks for all your hard work.
epic interview from 2 legends!
Thanks for checking out my podcast.. : )
This hour ripped on by.. you guys are amazing..
Thank you soooo much.
Steve's version of Guitar Gently Weeps is definitely on the Rushmore of Beatles covers.
Another great guest, Kenny!
Thanks so much.. Lot's more coming.
I totally agree!! It is so good!!
@@scotta7082 Cool Scott.
Wholeheartedly agree!! I see uploaded clips of Prince's solo on the tribute and agree it was fantastic but I always reply saying if you think this is great you need to check out Luke's outro solo on the Live in Amsterdam concert because he set the bar!!
@@porcaro4everThat outro solo makes me want to cry, out to the very last note. Perfection.
Luke!!!!! Great presentation
Thanks Kenneth
I have been blessed to have met or jammed with so many of my guitar heroes. I met Steve and he was awesome. What a sweetheart of a guy. Great interview!
Thanks Chris.
My two favorite musicians!!!!! Yay!
Thanks Jed.. : )
Man I never knew how many Musicians Steve has either recorded for or played with amazing Artist and Kenny is a awesome drummer ,im a few years younger and never knew how much either of you guys have contributed to the Music Industry ,not just one Genre but ALL blows my mind

Great interview. How great it must have been to be part of the magical LA music scene back in the day!
Thanks.. It was so amazing back then.. Amazing times
Same here 🫶🏼
Great Stuff, Thanks Kenny!
Hi Don.. Thanks for checking out my podcast.
I love Luke, dude is one of the true greats!
yes he is.. I agree
Wow. Simply outstanding - felt like a fly on the wall just watching two buddies hang out and share a lot of great stories. Thanks Kenny! You just have a real knack for making your guests (friends) so comfortable and these sessions are top notch! I appreciate everything you’re doing! (And I just ordered Luke’s bio - and yours too!)
Kathy thanks so much for everything you said.
Well, I will never forget how his music on candy man helped me through the hard times I was facing in the 90ies, when in a span of two years two of my band members both died of a brain tumor. All I can say is thank you Steve for all the great music you gave to us! God bless you, your family and friends! Cheers DimiZ
wow.. Thanks for sharing that.. Very heavy. very real.
Great spending time with these seasoned rock & roll road warriors! What history, talent & stories🎸🎼🎶🔥💣.Love your hair Mr. L!
Luke is fast becoming rightly (and finally!) regarded as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. and an interview with one of my favourite drummers since "paper in fire" hit the radio is the icing on the cake.
So humble but so talented great interview thank you 💙💎🎸🙏
Thanks you
I love Luke, he is a beast of a player and such a cool cat ❤
yes he is.. Thanks for checking out my podcast.
I wanna be just like Steve when I grow up.......I'm 72 now I figure I still got time.......
lol Go for it.
Last night I watched the podcast with Sklar, and now Luke? Someone pinch me!
I have been a huge fan of Steve Lukather since I saw the "Rosanna" video back in 1982. He was a cool looking dude with a good voice and a killer guitar solo. It's great hearing him be so humble about his amazing career.
Thanks for your comments Mark. Very cool.
The best audio book I’ve ever listened to! It’s like Luke was sitting next to me in the car just shooting the shit and storytelling on a long drive! This was just as fun to listen to! Kenny, Thanks for this and all the great conversations with my musical favorites! So glad I subscribed!
Thanks William.. Yeah.. Need to get Lukes audio book. Thanks for reminding me.
I felt exactly the same way I loved it I couldn’t get enough I had it with me at work and in the car. The strange thing was I was listening to luke and it was the part where he learned jeff had died Aug 5 1992, which is a week before my birthday sadly and it just happened to be Aug 5 2022… I felt the darkness and twisted almost like I was there that day with him… I’m a drummer and huge jeff Porcaro fan and loved everything he did. Kenny great interview and I thank you for moments like this. I want All those intimate stories thanks so much to all of the amazing tracks and love for the music.❤to both of you my man.

Mad props to SL for the Jeff Healey T-shirt!

Thank you Thomas
Two legends and personal musical inspirations, really glad I stumbled onto this today!
For all of Lukathers greatness as a Musician and songwriter.
He’s one of the most humble musicians you’ll ever hear in his interviews and what a great story teller.
Yes I totally agree.
I too loved his book, I listened to it, and it was a treat he was the one who read it. I loved hearing his times when the session musician circuit was a thing.
It's always better when the artist reads their book.. I did the same thing with my Autobiography.
Great interview! A pleasure to watch!
I keep Luke's book on my nightstand. Whenever I travel, it comes with me. I even have his Audio book...with HIM narrating...absolutely cracks me up every single time! Great interview Kenny!! Great stuff!
oh man.. that is so cool. Thanks for sharing.

The gospel according to Luke is a must read!
I can't wait to read it

@@KennyAronoffOfficial You guys gave us all something to strive for. We (my generation, im 60) dissected every song, listening and learning. Many years of lessons, I learned more in smoky clubs from trying to figure out "WTF did he he just play?"
Or "HTF does he make that swing like that?"
Thank you sir.
