For sure. Toto, in general, is one of the most important band in history. People always remember them for Africa but forget that they helped forge the success of Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, Michael Jackson, etc. The list goes on.

"She's a Beauty" is definitely one of the greatest songs of the 80's. Believe it or not, the other co-writer of that song was none other than super producer/musician David Foster. Very talented guy but he wasn't exactly known for doing sultry hard rock songs.

He's a great player and definitely a great song writer. I got the pleasure of catching the Toto and Journey tour this year in Columbus OH. Both were really great, but Toto stole the show. Bravo!

Such a humble and great musician. Saw his solo act back in 2008 at a club called Durty Nellie's in palatine IL. He had a tour bus outside and I got to meet him after the show and just talked to us and answered questions right on the stage. Got to check out his rig on a small stage. Most musicians his caliber wouldn't play a club like that, let alone hang out after the jam. Great night. I think it was a Monday night too.
That rendition of Crossroads is badass. Best thing I've heard come from Hagar's voice in a while... Sometimes a group of musicians just jell... I want to hear more from Lukather and Hagar

Luke is probably THE nicest guy EVER. I used to deliver his gear to the Steakhouse back in the day, and he was always next level kind to everyone. I remember him breaking a string on his new Luke model guitar at the Village on a Peter Gabriel session. He came out and handed it to me and said "I need this in one minute". Even in the highest pressure situation he was the best. Him and Michael Thompson, just absolutely world class. Congratulations on your sobriety, Luke. You look 10 years younger already. All the best to you!
Lukather is the most chill dude ever, I love his vibe. He can improv like no other and his sense of rhythm and melody is why he is ones of the session GOATS. Sammy, what a great interview.

He's got more connections and degrees of separation with players than you can shake a stick at. I call 'em "LukeLinks". Mind-blowing stuff, for real :)
Wow, the humility. Not only a virtuoso guitarist but a singer, songwriter, arranger. A track sheet second to none. One of his best friends was Jeff Porcaro - those two ruled the studio world.
#1 Steve is my favorite rocker, all time, then EVH. #2 Steve is also my number one-if I could hang out with a Rocker, he is so cool, down to earth, and seems so dude easy. I was extremely disappointed in Rolling Stone a few years ago leaving him off the top 100 players of all time. Still mad about that one. Legend.
Probably many good guitar players that these guys know that should belong on the list that we may never hear about. Steve certainly deserves major props for his arrangements and overall contributions. His playing is stellar, to say the least. Singing, he says, is meh (thanks Michael McDonald for helping on I'll Be Over You). But, nah, I'll listen to that song again (and again and again, and again) when I need a good deep thought for a moment. I'd like to believe many, many others who recognize his talents do the same.
Whenever I get into one of those "who's the greatest guitarist" type of discussions, Steve's name is one of the first to come out of my mouth. Just an excellent player all around.

One of the best renditions of Crossroads I've heard in a long time. Steve was awesome …. And Sammy? You can't keep him down! Well done. Great interview!
Steve is an amazing guitar player and obviously has been since very early on. I can remember playing “Hold the Line” when I first was learning electric guitar. Everyone was really into it. That made the difference. Sammy’s voice was hitting those high notes effortlessly and Kenny, well that drummer is just so damn versatile it’s insane. Thanks for the video and wish them all great health and many years of making the best music that inspires and allows us to temporarily escape this crazy world!

There are no limits on how much love and respect I feel for this guy, apart from being a fantastic musician and guitarist, he is humble and genuinely interested. I happened to bump into him at a restaurant in Sweden about 20 years ago. My friends and I were leaving the place when Steve and someone else in the band (possibly Simon Phillips) plus a few others in his company were walking in. I was very surprised But at least I got a hello out of me, and said that I just wanted to say I admire you and you're my favorite guitar player. There is probably thousands of others that have told him that before me but he stopped, thanked and asked if this restaurant was any good and what we had eaten, if I lived in town and if I could recommend some place else in case his friends didn't like the place, I was completely speechless but I said I was satisfied with the food and service and said there was another place a few blocks away that I knew was good. Seen Toto twice, In Stockholm in the late nineties and last month in Gothenburg, they were great. I would like to see Steve do a solo tour but that tour would not reach Sweden I guess...Cheers!
Wow! Great interview and performance! Steve,Sammy and Kenny. True talent and legends of music making!!! Sammy keep up the great sessions as you are doing an unbelievable job!!
What a guy and guitarplayer. Saw him in Orange France with TOTO august 2024 and they rocked the place, incredible. They don't make them anymore like he is. Love him.
I give Sammy props for being down to earth and being a great rock singer. Steve and Kenny are legends obviously.. but always down to earth. These are musicians worthy of admiration!
Steve Lukather is always serious as a heart attack, genuinely humble and the most loveable person in the room at the same time. A very had act to follow especially if you are one of the greatest musicians on the planet. Hats off to you Steve, you're a wonderful human being and a permanent inspiration.
A lot of people turn on the car radio on the way to where ever they are going and listen to the music. When they listen to that tune that clicks with their mood and they end up buying that album they are happy. They read the sleeve notations but it's the music that takes hold of them. Sammy Hagar gives those music buyers a chance to meet those musicians and learn about them and the motivations that inspired the songs they write. Thanks for the video
Sammy, I like you every day more and more. Steve has with pretty much everyone awesome guitarist, composer, singer. Love Toto, and his footprints on endless songs. Rock on🤘
THAT was Luke using the Force! Any other player would have been like “nah… it’s a tv/internet spot… I’ll play the chords and the changes and noodle a bit…”. Luke does what? He opens an entire case of Whoop-a$$ and slays! Love that guy!
All of Rock n Roll.... The best n' the worst together, compile a puzzle that represented, in the beginning, a mystery that drew billions into it's universe with an attraction that was for too much for some to survive and for others that rode it's energy like surfers on a wave with the genres' ability, in music, to morph, shape shift, copy, assimilate and improvise all the God Blessed Way down to Twist n' Shout. It was amazing to hear Steve's history and his contributions and I hold unending respect for Sammy too. Crossroads, here, has never been done finer.
Luke and the late Tommy Tedesco are the most recorded guitar players of all time. That should pretty much tell you everything you need to know. Luke = LEGEND!

I was very surprised But at least I got a hello out of me, and said that I just wanted to say I admire you and you're my favorite guitar player. There is probably thousands of others that have told him that before me but he stopped, thanked and asked if this restaurant was any good and what we had eaten, if I lived in town and if I could recommend some place else in case his friends didn't like the place,
I was completely speechless but I said I was satisfied with the food and service and said there was another place a few blocks away that I knew was good.
Seen Toto twice, In Stockholm in the late nineties and last month in Gothenburg, they were great.
I would like to see Steve do a solo tour but that tour would not reach Sweden I guess...Cheers!
Steve is the rock master! What a great musician and songwriter with such a humble spirit. One of the best! Rock On!
The onstage Chemestry between Luk & Sam is so great to watch.....adding K Aronoff makes it even greater....
Love him.
Sammy can still sing! God bless him!
..and scream!
I give Sammy props for being down to earth and being a great rock singer. Steve and Kenny are legends obviously.. but always down to earth. These are musicians worthy of admiration!
Definitely one of my all-time heroes! Great musician, writer, performer. Just awesome 🙂
I don’t know why you don’t have 2 million subscribers yet. Or 10. This is the best TH-cam on the planet.
I think I could listen to those two talk all day. Specially the stuff the would talk about when there are no camera's..
I could listen to Lukather solo for hours. Such fresh approaches to blues.
Sammy plays a mean air guitar, lol! Seriously, he's one of my all time favorites, still putting out great music & live concerts... AT 75 YEARS OLD!!!!
You're kidding, right? 75? Is that real? I'm stunned.
Steve Lukather is always serious as a heart attack, genuinely humble and the most loveable person in the room at the same time. A very had act to follow especially if you are one of the greatest musicians on the planet. Hats off to you Steve, you're a wonderful human being and a permanent inspiration.
Steve Lukather, along with many founding members of Toto, is the best musician that somehow a bit underrated
Boy, did I just stumble across a gem of a video. Great interview, clever graphics and some great loud rock and roll!
Steve is the sweetest, coolest guy in the biz! What a gem! And Sammy is such a great host and all-round stand up guy! ❤
Sammy sounding damn good on those vocals. And Steve….what can you say? The man knows his guitar. 🤙🏼 🔥
This is probably the best version of Crossroads ever ! Ballsy indeed !!!
Steve is such a great musician. I got to see Toto in May and he was unbelievable. Love the solo on “I Won’t Hold You Back”
A lot of people turn on the car radio on the way to where ever they are going and listen to the music. When they listen to that tune that clicks with their mood and they end up buying that album they are happy. They read the sleeve notations but it's the music that takes hold of them. Sammy Hagar gives those music buyers a chance to meet those musicians and learn about them and the motivations that inspired the songs they write. Thanks for the video
one after the other.............love ya Sammy, all of this is music history, present and future
Sammy, I like you every day more and more. Steve has with pretty much everyone awesome guitarist, composer, singer. Love Toto, and his footprints on endless songs. Rock on🤘
When Steve blasted his leaf blowing neighbors with baddass guitar licks...classic!
Everytime I watch one of the Red Rockers videos it like discovering something undiscovered
Why this may be the best version of "crossroads" that I've ever heard. It may take the cake, seriously.
Out of nowhere an allstar band appears. Nice.
I love Steve's voice as much as his guitar playing. Thanks for being who you are. Toto gave me the taste of excellent music. 💖🙏✨🎶
Killing it with Crossroads.
Two absolute legends here. Sammy is PURE CLASS...Luke ain't no slouch either. Great video!
Always look forward to another video of yours Sammy! Thank you. This was truly awesome. Such talent!
Loved this guy's playing all the way back to the late 70's! Steve is probably my favorite guitarist ever.
THAT was Luke using the Force! Any other player would have been like “nah… it’s a tv/internet spot… I’ll play the chords and the changes and noodle a bit…”. Luke does what? He opens an entire case of Whoop-a$$ and slays! Love that guy!
Brothers in arms - 100% resonance.. thats the energy and joy I love so hard from this guys music!! Rock on forever...
LIbra is the sign of "balance". Hence VH's album name? Things that make you go Hmmm..LOL
Absolutely loved this! Steve is fantastic.
Steve is one of a chosen among many guitarists that holds a top place on my list
Awesome jam. I must add that it's great to see Steve playing the very guitar that he endorses with EBMM
I’ve grown to respect Steve the most out of pretty well all musicians still relevant today, the same goes for Sammy, I love them both🎸
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE both of these dudes!!! Maybe the hottest version of Crossroads ever!!!
That dude is a wicked guitarist!
... And he can write songs
and sing! 😁
Steve Lukather
You truly are a great singer!
You just are!
It just is!
Luke and the late Tommy Tedesco are the most recorded guitar players of all time. That should pretty much tell you everything you need to know.
Luke = LEGEND!
Steve has been climbing the ladder steadily over the years and is definitely way up there among the greatest of guitar heroes for me
