They are THE most underrated hard rock band in the past 20 years. They don't have a bad song. Every song is thought provoking and full of meaning. More and more Alter Bridge!!!
Mark Tremonti (lead guitarist) also has quite the set of pipes on him, but gladly takes a back seat to Myles. These two can be considered the dynamic duo with their vocal and guitar capabilities!
I was at that show. Was supposed to go with the drummer from my band af the time. But he couldnt go cause of the cancer which was discovered a few months before. I went with his brother. He died shortly after. This song still to this day hits hard. Especially this live version cause I know I was in that crowd crying my eyes out.
Quite simply, THE best song EVER recorded. Saw them play this live and I cried. Just such beautiful lyrics mixed with the most rediculous guitar, drums and harmony. BREATHTAKING.
"At the risk of sounding judgmental, I think I've figured out who the weak link in Creed was." I laughed so hard I started coughing. My wife came in from the other room to make sure I was going to live.
Finally AB came into The Daily Doug!!! One of the most incredibile bands. One of the greatest voices and sensibilities. One of the most engaging reactions!
Myles had said in numerous interviews that he has always been more comfortable as a guitar player than a singer as you can see some of his guitar skills in this video. He kinda just became the singer out of necessity. You should check out what he does with Slash. Look for "Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators".
In Loving Memory (Kerrang! Studio version) and Watch Over You (Myles Kennedy Billboard Studios) are two acoustic performances that really showcase Myle’s vocal abilities and are just absolutely beautiful versions. Definitely worth reacting to.
Just heard this today 2/29/24. WOW !! An exception song and performance. I like Tremonti as a guitarist but had no idea that a song this powerful from Alter Bridge. Magnificent!!!
Thanks Doug for getting to this one and doing the Amsterdam version. Mark Morris, whom the song was written for, sold Myles Kennedy his first guitar. I consider this Alter Bridge's epic song. As some in the comments have stated the next one to do is "Words Darker Than Their Wings Live at Royal Albert Hall" There are others, but I go there next. Mark Tremonti, the lead guitarist, also has a band and I would strongly recommend doing the studio version of Marching in Time. A very uplifting song. Like you said, for all that have lost someone close, this song goes out to you.
Great song. Miles could make singing the phone book sound awesome. Dudes got pipes. Anything by Alter Bridge is great. Can’t wait for you to listen to Fates Warning do Still Remains live n Athens or The Ivory Gate of Dreams. 😉
I told you you'd like Alter Bridge! Keep digging into their catalogue...the music and lyrics are deep and meaningful on many levels. Their acoustic versions are great too.
One of my favorite bands. You'll hear a lot of requests for 'Words Darker' from Royal Albert Hall (with orchestra), but I'd also suggest 'Cry of Achilles' from that same show. It's a more technical song and I think you'd enjoy picking it apart. Thanks for the great reaction.
Another poignant memorializing song that Alter Bridge has is ‘In Loving Memory,’ which Mark Tremonti wrote to honor his late mother if I’m not mistaken. Wonderful Life is also a good song as well. Definitely recommend Words Darker Than Their Wings
Years after finding them out, this song still gives me chills. Lately their songs haven’t had that much power on me, but I’m sure they still have such a power to perform this live.
YESSS, this is one of my favourite songs EVER. I am so hyped you did a reaction to them!!! I took a different meaning to the song but it really helped me get over a breakup sometime ago.. it was my most played song on spotify last year.
I’ve seen this song live several times with my BFF Carol, and I felt like I had witnessed perfection. The beauty & power of this song is stunning when you’re right on the rail staring up at them! It’s like you’re transported to a place you’ve never been but it feels perfect when you’re there.
I had the distinct honour of being there and the Royal Albert hall show's. For 12 years I went to go see them every time there toured in the UK or western Europe. Back in my younger, single days.
One of the first song I learnt with my new band :) I never paid attention to the lyrics and it was a mistake. I suggest also Cry of Achilles from the same band, it's a great great song and it's incredibly fun (and also pretty hard) to play !
I do appreciate how you just listen and pay attention to every part of the song and even the lyrics. Some that react to music don't get the meaning or the feeling behind it. Thank you sir.
We watched him 5 years ago in Spokane with our friends. Our friend since passed of brain cancer so your words at the end hit hard today. Miles dad spoke at my friend’s celebration of life as they were good friends. Miles voice is amazing and I’m happy to hear he has another fan.
Doug, You need to review them performing Words Darker than their wings - Live at the Albert Hall with the Parallax Orchestra. Mind blowing, especially the high note towards the end. Myles Kennedy has an absolute brilliant voice.
Doug, they’re an amazing band live. I’ve seen them twice in concert already and hoping to make it a third in December when they tour the UK. More Alter bridge please !
Another tidbit of info on Miles Kennedy. He has a pretty serious case of Tinnitus. He’s got a lot of hearing loss, and to me, for him to be able to sing with the voice that he has, is an incredible thing.
Great reaction, Doug! Thank you for doing the live in Amsterdam version! It's the definitive live version of this song. You should check out this entire studio album. It's their best in my opinion, with a bunch of stellar songs. Thank you again! 🙏
Wonderful reaction on one of my favorite songs, Doug! Glad you liked it 👍🏻😁 Might I suggest listening to ‘Ghost of Days Gone By’? Powerful, dark and yet hopeful song. By the way, major congrats on the 200K subscribers! Well deserved! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Man, seeing someone hear this song for the first time is an absolute treat. Seeing someone really GET IT and FEEL IT is something else, though (as if it's possible not to feel this in your gut). Glad you loved this, Doug! Subscribing.
I’m watching this, as an avid fan of Alter Bridge since it’s inception, I’m reminded of my grandparents who passed in 2018 and 2019, respectively. This song has been with me every day since I first heard it and has helped with many losses since then. ❤
Must look into these guys. Heard Miles Kennedy on other things but not Alter Bridge and nothing suits a singer more than their own sentiments, words and passion put into their own instruments. Nice reaction as always Mr Helvering.
Unfortunately I don't think they have many tracks on this level. All of their albums have a standout track or two, but by and large they're full of generic rock. Blackbird was a rare moment of true inspiration, and I'm glad it's found an audience. It's a shame because Myles is a superb singer, and Tremonti has grown leaps-and-bounds as a guitar player since Creed, but they're one of those bands that almost never take chances or risks and stay rooted in a particular sound that was already dated in the early-00s.
@@jonathanhenderson9422 I respectfully disagree. Some people say Cry Of Achilles and Fortress is better than Blackbird. And This Side Of Fate and The Last Hero are on the same level. And all Alter Bridge albums have its own distinctive sound.
Great choice in your first reaction of Alter Bridge!! And probably one of the better live performances of this song as well. At this concert in Amsterdam, Myles' voice was amazing! Try to check out more of the live set from this concert and react to them because any song from there is amazing! Two notable songs are "Watch Over You" and "In Loving Memory". Check them out! Thanks!
Wonderful Life / Watch Over You Live and as others have stated Words Darker Than Their Wings Live... crazy how we all recommend the live versions over recorded for this band. They're seriously my all time favorite.
Just the progressions along stirs deep emotions within me. I am brought to tears any time I listed to this. And then there is the lyrics. This bands music bears my soul and leaves me vulnerable, in the best way possible.
Scott Stapp is an amazing singer, writer, and composer. I wouldn't call him the weak link of Creed. Just different than Myles. I love it all Creed, Alter Bridge, Myles solo stuff, and Marks solo work with Tremonti. It's all good stuff and very different from each other.
I've been hoping you'd cover this one on the channel, definitely recommend you listen to Words Darker Than Their Wings live at the Albert Hall for an epic performance.
This is the first reaction video of yours that I have seen, and without the music even beginning, I already appreciate you for doing your homework and not making a bunch of assumptions or wrong statements thus making yourself look ignorant. Nice stuff, dude! As others have said previously, Words Darker than their Wings live at Royal Albert Hall will knock you off your feet. Also, Cry of Achilles is another phenomenal song of theirs, among so many others. Please react to more Alter Bridge whatever the song(s) you choose! Please, please, please!
Glad you finally checked these guys out. You must check out Words Darker Than Their Wings from the Royal Albert Hall performance. Even if it's just for your own enjoyment.
How have I not seen this before? Blackbird is one of my favorite songs. And how was I not subscribed already? What?!! Anyways...excited to hear your reaction to this.
This song is something that I use to help me through my dark days since losing my wife almost six years ago. The grief can be overwhelming still today.
After Words Darker than their Wings, please consider Cry of Achilles and Fortress. Both songs are epic. Thanks so much for finally getting to the masterpiece that is Blackbird!
Doug. Thankfully for finally getting to do one of this bands finest tracks. On the subject of grief and mourning family members etc I found Hold on to the Memories by Disturbed a brilliant track and would love to see your reaction to this.
Top 2 songs and Miles Kennedy is a true rockstar and MUSICIAN!!! This guy is very, very special. Thank you for highlighting this man and this band. They are truly great!! Thank you Doug...
You must do “Words Darker Than Their Wings “ Live at Royal Albert Hall with the Paralax Orchestra. It is absolutely Epic!
This is it Doug. This is the one!
The first time they had ever played it live.
In terms of the lyrical content, this I think is their most thought provoking track.
Yes, please do this one live from Royal Albert hall. 🤟
A must!!
They are THE most underrated hard rock band in the past 20 years. They don't have a bad song. Every song is thought provoking and full of meaning. More and more Alter Bridge!!!
Perfectly said.
Absolutely
Even their B-side songs are all gold
Well said.
100%, and they are NOT Creed
Miles Kennedy is the most complete rock star package. His vocals are amazing, he can play guitar really well and he's got the look. He's a star.
And he was in the movie Rock Star!
@@sorrynotsorry5589 ..and his voice was the only one that wasn't substituted. Myles is THE most amazing muso..🤘
@@sorrynotsorry5589 I came here to say that
Mark Tremonti sings too... and he sings great like Frank Sinatra ;)
And modest and nice, unlike typical “rock stars.” A great all around person
Mark Tremonti (lead guitarist) also has quite the set of pipes on him, but gladly takes a back seat to Myles. These two can be considered the dynamic duo with their vocal and guitar capabilities!
Abso-f***ing-lutely!
Tremonti is the only reason I would listen to Creed
Tremonti - My last mistake is fkin awesome, i had no idea his vocals were like that
You gotta check out words darker then their wings live. Absolutely incredible.
Second that!
I’ll third that then 😂
I'll fourth it :)

Please do! It's Live from Royal Albert Hall.

Quite simply, THE best song EVER recorded. Saw them play this live and I cried. Just such beautiful lyrics mixed with the most rediculous guitar, drums and harmony. BREATHTAKING.
You should definitely check out words darker than their wings live at the Albert Hall! Probably the best live performance I've ever heard.
I must've listened to that song hundreds of times and it still hits me in the feels.
I dedicated this song to my father when he died after long agony. I have a deep connection to this song.
Wow - that's really something.
"At the risk of sounding judgmental, I think I've figured out who the weak link in Creed was."

Said it for a long time... Myles has the best voice in modern Rock and Metal. Nobody has come close for a long time
Miles reminds me of Chris Cornell. Hadn't heard this band before, thanks Doug.
Enjoy your journey! I just discovered them about 2 years ago. By far my favorite band👍
I don't have the words to express how powerful this when you see it live, it stays with you.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It gives me chills every time i listen to it. Glad you included it on the channel!
I had never heard of Alter Bridge, but after listening to this I will have to check out some more of their music. Thanks for the introduction Doug.
Enjoy! Every album is great front to back! No need to skip. Epic songs ! Great band. 👍
That is the same way I discovered them last year. Listening to reaction videos from Rebecca Vocal Athlete. Been hooked on them ever since.
